Man Justin almost had it. He was on a streak for a while and then daigo brings it back at the end. Really great match can’t wait for the next tourney.
J Wong in Hawaii
I guess Wong is getting R&R in Hawaii but also getting his practice on against the local pros. Found a couple vids of him completely destroying the comp.

For anyone who listened to Gootecks podcast where he interviewed Justin Wong, Wong had a lot of interesting things to say. He mentioned that he played Daigo a lot in Japan and was consistently losing with his Rufus. So this is why he wouldn’t give Rufus a shot in the Evo finals.
He also mentioned that Daigo was getting beat all the time by this lame Blanka who’d always try to turtle Daigo to death. He considered using Blanka, but couldn’t play that way so didn’t. He also considered Sagat but Sagat players weren’t doing good in the money matches. Hart did win 3 to 2, but LI Joe and floe went 0-20 against Daigo combined.
Wong also said that Boxers in the US are far better then Boxers in Japan. And that he hadn’t played Boxer for a while and actually forgot things like the fact that Boxers turn punch goes through fireballs and his ex armor. He mentioned that he thought that Daigo also knew this and played with that in mind.

I was wondering “WTF is that guy doing”. But after hearing what Justin had to say, I can’t blame the guy. Going by what Justin had to say, it works most of the time. I guess Daigo is just clutch though since this isn’t casuals.
Maybe it was Apolo Creed type outfit that Balrog had on but, when wong won the first set I was reminded of the scene in Rocky 4 just after he cut the Russian his corner was telling rocky “You cut him! You HURT him! See?! He’s not a machine! He’s a man!” After that it was clear whatever fears Wong had about Daigo were far gone. I’m not much of a Wong fan, I was cheering for Daigo the whole time. But at the end I found myself clapping for both. A fantastic performance from both competators. Can’t wait for the next EVO.

He is just basically taking care of business. This is one of his perks, as chilled as he plays in the local arcades is how he plays everywhere… That whole i need the crouds support or motivation is not needed. This is what a bunch of players suffer from. They get too nervour causing a lot of mistakes. Now please do not consider me a good player at all cause im just basically starting but em i right or wrong. Everyone did a good job at evo considering how stressful it is.
Rocky IV came to my mind a lots of times watching the finals jejejeje Drago vs Rocky.

See, I KNEW something was up here. People were like “naw he was just saving for super,” but I kept thinking to myself… ok he knows better than me, but it seems like taking away safe fireball spam is worth an EX bar.
At least the match makes more sense to me now.

Rofl sorry man, I usually keep quiet about the whole Justin vs Daigo discussion even though I hate Justin with a passion. I just to think to myself “eh, to each his own”
But this constant downplaying of Daigo’s victories by Justin is so fucking pathetic. Like he would ACTUALLY forget one of Boxer’s most basic strategies against fireball zoning. It’s just…sad beyond words that one of the game’s finest is such a pathetic loser. Literally and figuratively.
