J.Wong vs Daigo

Daigo vs J. Wong, I can’t find a good quality vid from the 2009 EVO final…

While I’m personally not huge on Justin’s personality (more from vids, seems more relaxed in interviews), he’s more like a big kid who gets caught up in the moment than an arrogant SOB.

Just going from tournament personality, I don’t even see why people would assume Daigo is some how more “classy” or “respectful.” Because he just sits there and doesn’t talk? Plenty of assholes who are quiet. He might not talk or otherwise emote 'cause he thinks Americans are morons and not worth his time. Now, I don’t believe that from what I’ve known outside of that, but first time I looked at him play I didn’t think it was any more or less a possibility than anything else.

Don’t jump to the conclusion that that’s why he is the way he is. Daigo plays quietly. Justin plays loudly. Don’t like how he plays the game, then don’t like how he plays the game. But let’s not get all Freudian and psychoanalyze who these people are.

Does anyone find Daigo a little creepy during that finals match? Justin was jumping all over the place after his comeback and Daigo just sat there staring at the screen.

Buy IGN Insider.

If you ever watch anything with Daigo…he’s basicalyl ALWAYS like that.

I believe both are showing their personality actually and it has nothing to do with showing off.

A friend of mine who plays SF4 is very loud. If you hate Justin for jumping around then you guys will want to kill my friend. When he wins he just shouts out that this is how you win or what a rapage that was and stuff like that. When he loses he blames the controller or that the day was bad.

It doesnt annoy me that he says stuff like that when he loses but when he wins after 5 matches of losing and he goes on abt how he is now better than me, just makes me want to stop playing.

So what justin does is alright. Only thing he does is raise his hand to show he achieved something. And in a tournament with lots of people watching, thats excusable and actually perfectly acceptable. Also makes it funny when he loses next round.

Yeah. Justin Wong is here. In fact today at 4:30ish PM he came to Pearl City Fun Factory to play the locals. I got to watch him play for a bit, but his Ken lost to a Sagat and Wong’s friend (?) started beating everyone with his Boxer. Didn’t stay long enough to see if Wong got back on, but I’m sure he did.

heh, you should’ve seen his face when Itabashi beat him on that Japanese show (the one with a female model in it)

pure blank stares …

Some kid on Eventhubs said this about Justin Wong.

You guys agree that Justin needs to lose weight, buy new high fashion clothes, and get a better haircut?

Link I searched that site and found nothing on justin Wong.

Daigo is a jerk:

i’ve seen that match, it’s from may. justin was talking about the time he was there.

man people are overanalyzing both players. whether you’re a fan of either player and the way they carry themselves in matches, it would be boring if every player was like daigo, or if every player was like justin. i appreciate the fact that different personalities clash.

in what world does daigo have an athlete’s body?

I swear some of you sound like you never been in a competitive environment, if you compete with other humans in anything expect a lot of shit talking and energy. Part of being a good player is having confidence, you can’t be good and have some sort of insecurity about you, your opponent is going to smell it from a mile away. Justin celebrates just to feed off the crowd just like when someone scores a touchdown or Lebron ducks on someone and the crowd goes crazy, you feed off that and get you even more amp to do better.

Believe it or not, not everyone who competes in sport or elsewhere behaves like that. Sometimes it’s a cultural thing, for example the New Zealand All Blacks perform the haka before every rugby match as a war cry and to intimidate their opponents. It’s accepted as part of their culture, and it’s become a tradition so noone really has a problem with it. However, you won’t often see this anywhere else, and it’s not often you’d see people taunting and intimidating others on camera, after the fact. In fact, more often than not, if a player gets in another player’s face they’d get penalized or even fined.

I don’t think there was anything wrong with Justin’s celebration (other than the fact that it was careless). It was like someone celebrating after scoring a goal in soccer (although you can get penalized if your celebrations are too extravagant). Stuff like what Marn did though is just plain stupid. People shouldn’t really make excuses for those types of antics IMO.

At what point did we start giving a fuck about these guys’ bodies?

:frowning:

His post is discussing Triforce’ aim to make Justin a star. Where stardom is concerned, image and appearance definitely are important.

Even if you think asshole thoughts it is classy and respectful to keep them to yourself.

Behavior says a lot.
If you can’t say something nice about someone don’t say anything at all.

Except in the NBA and NFL. (At a minimum.) And before anyone bitches “oh, that’s just American sports” I imagine I could find quite a few obvious, shit-tastic examples if I bothered to watch international football but since I’ve probably watched less than 10 hours of pro sports games in my life I don’t really know offhand of any other obvious examples.

Terrell Owens is a prime example of an NFL Showboater.
