anybody have the video of the final match?
Jesus man…youtube search for “EVO 2009 Justin Daigo Final” and it comes RIGHT up.
Great match! I was on edge for pretty much the whole thing. Always cheering for Daigo, though. I can’t stand that fat, cocky little bitch that is Wong. God you just want to kick him in the teeth sometimes. His lack of sportsmanship and his shittalking makes his loss all the better.
… where can I find “live” footage? the stream version is giving me a headache
The attitude thing is cultural. New Yorkers are all cocky little bitches and Japanese people and Eastern cultures in general are known for not displaying much emotion
You know maybe it was just the hype vibes I’m feeling from that Justin vs Daigo battle, but I got the feeling that SFIV might be closest thing to fighting game perfection. Unfortunately as we get deeper into the game, it might turn out to be broken in one way or another but I hope that’s not the case. Capcom has been struggling to make a game that could bring together competitive players with completely different skill sets, like mindgames, execution, footies, parrying, rush down, zoning, combos, resets, etc into one balanced game. For those people that just watched Justin Wong vs Daigo battle I urge you to go back and try to see all the SFIV matches as they show really how much depth the game has.
A big thing you’ll notice in the tourney is that some really strong players got eliminated because of some unknown skill or match up they’ve never practiced and couldn’t counter. People that couldn’t deal with Sakura’s reset mix ups never letting them hit the ground, or Cammy’s rush down style, or even Guile’s footies, or didn’t know the match ups simply got owned. Simply picking character’s that could dish out huge damage and/or could turtle didn’t get players very far, this really goes to prove just how insanely skilled players like Justin and Daigo are. What made that fight and now the whole game itself exciting to me was simply the display of their mastery of all things technical in a fighting game on each other.
And then we get to see stuff like Daigo’s Yomi abilities being able to stuff or block attacks from top level players that the average person couldn’t even see, and Justin’s Wong factor forcing other players to whiff moves that they would have landed on anybody else, and Wong pushes hard for it. Finally adapting, always adapting to the opponents tricks, the hardest skill a competitive player has to learn, and we saw this displayed in full force in SFIV, probably due to the game’s huge variety and balance.
I know a lot of people won’t agree with me about how great SFIV is, and this is all strictly my opinion on the matter anyway. However I think we can all agree that SFIV is really a great addition to the Evo line up, and will probably be here to stay for a long time.
Street Fighter IV revived interest in Fighting games period. It became an underground interest only for the last 10 years or so once arcades died over here but Capcom fed off that nostalgia perfectly and the whole Madcatz TE tie in was genius. Bravo and I hope they give us more DLC soon.
I think that really shows Daigo’s level of gaming for him to be able to ignore the those chantings… I don’t mean to be riding Daigo’s dick.
Alot of the chants gave Wong some spirit and Daigo knew the whole crowd was on Wong’s side, and he was still confident whilst playing.
I really like the chant where they said " LET’S GO JUSTIN LET’S GO!"
It’s so catchy… I kept saying it all day today.
I find it hard to believe that someone who names himself “Daigo Jr” is not dickriding Daigo
not really. chinks are generally very racist and fucking hate nigggers, apart form chink women, they really want to get fucked by a niger cock.
But yea, balrog aint popular in japan because of the yellow mans fear of the black mans penis.
Luckily, you’re not racist at all. Please die in a fire.
That’s quite possibly one of the dumbest post I have seen on srk and I have seen a ton of them.
Enjoy the permaban buddy. :arazz:
Great match, but it shows you how Daigo is completly on another level. Daigo’s play dictated the the matchup. JW was the one that had to change and adjust his game to Daigo with all the counterpicking.
I know it was a top class match, but somehow as a Rog user i find this match pretty boring. a Al Fuertre Vs Blanka would be good. LOL.
Still i’m not sure why people hate JW that much. It’s not like he slapped Daigo after he lost. it was still that ‘sportsmanship’ handshake. You cant expect a bearhug after losing a close match between 2 hot rivals.
Give this man the credit for using each character to such high levels.
lol @ complaining about usa chants, apparently patriotism is now unsportsmanlike/racist in this crazy politically correct world.
To me, the chant seemed more to antagonize. Screaming “Fuck you Japan” would have been the literal equivalent imo.
That may just be my line of thinking though.
Either way, I’m glad Justin was stuffed. I just can’t respect someone who gloats like that. I mean he got up half way through a match to jump around and polish his own ego ffs. There’s being happy and excited you won, then there’s spitting in your opponents face. Justin typically does the latter.
It’s not quite there yet,but SF IV is already a great game.I am almost certain that it’s the best competitive game to watch, even if at first I was missing the flashiness of 3rd strike or speed of marvel or kof/GG.
The game is just one update away from being timeless, especially if they can implement lobbies and a great network code.I am sure that if the japanese arcade scene is updated with a revision, the console characters will be fine tuned and we will end up with the modern ST as IV will be at EVO for years to come.
I still prefer VF series, if only they could push the hype up like SF IV.
