that shit was incredible. I love Wongs play, but I really don’t like his antics sometimes. but i also can fully understand that he was beyond any hype ever experienced at the points when he was excited.

but to be honest I think that if Justin just pulled out Balrog a bit earlier, he might have sent Daigo to Losers ;).

It was the first time I had seen Wong looking nervous. During various periods of the match, he literally looked like he was about to be sick. It has to be tough on Wong - it’s always the same guy that gets in his way, and who is to say Daigo will even come back to next year’s Evo? This could have been Wong’s last chance to finally close that chapter in his life.

An amazing game from two great competitors. Here’s to hoping that Justin and the rest of the US crew does well in Japan.

lol @ all the people saying Justins antics make him a douche or make america look bad or that he was taunting Daigo or other crap. He was getting the crowd HYPED. The crowd was so hyped that random people from the casino were wondering in to see what the hell was going on. More people are going to get excited and want to watch if they see someone with passion playing the game, rather some emotionless robots playing a videogame. Its just showing how much passion and enthusiasm the players have in this game.

Great grand finals but face fact folks. Justin LOST plain and simple. He got beat clean in the final match 0-2. Daigo got serious, dialed him in and beat him in convincing fashion. It was not nearly as close as you make it out to be.

Justin didn’t pick Sagat because Daigo knows that match up inside and out. Balrog doesn’t get play in Japan because of the Army of Sagats. This gave JWong an advantage (at first) in the match up.

In the end the better player won and Justin gets the crown as first loser in MVC2 and SF4. He is still a heck of a player and I will probably never beat him ever.

Justin is the best in the USA…but not even close to the best in the world. Being best in the USA is bush league. It’s like playing American football in Canada or Europe.

Even Daigo himself may not be the best in the world…just crowned as the best because he showed up.

I wish Mike Ross would pick up Sagat and give up Honda for good. he would be more successful I think.

I predict an early exit for Marn and JWong @ SBO 2009. Both of their characters are weak against REAL SAGAT PLAYERS.

Question: Is it just me or were both Gootecks and Mike Ross big let-downs at Evo? I mean, they kept bragging about how amazing they were and it CLEARLY didn’t show at Evo.

Personally, I think Puerto Rican Balrog showed he had both a better Rog and Honda than the two of them. AND he isn’t a media whore. I feel this way because for the past couple weeks their self-praising really irritated me. And I’m not alone in this notion; clearly the crowd at Evo who were chanting “Gootecks sucks” agree with this notion as well. That wild-card team would of done much better had it not been for Mike Ross’s losing streak.

I guess I can understand where people are coming from in regards to Justin’s personality vs. Daigo’s personality. If Justin had won, I imagine he would have shouted “Only in America, baby!” and then put on a nice suit and sunglasses and sat back on a fancy couch between two hot women with stacks of cash lined up around him.

You’re right, I wasn’t there - but then again I didn’t call the US Playerbase a Bush League. Regardless of how JWong/Marn and other top US based players perform in SBO, they worked damn hard to become top players here in the states, and although Daigo won he was still pushed to the limit.
