J.Wong vs Daigo

japan will only bother to get good with/understand console characters when they are included in the sf iv dash or whatever.

Yeah, if I was in the finals, againts one of the best and I evened up the set, I would be pumped too. You see pro athleats get pumped during finals all the time. People handel their emotions differently. Daigo is calm, and that works for him. Wong is animated, and that works for him. It has nothing to do with being an asshole. You see them shake hands before and after matches. The respect is there.

Amazing matchup. Even though he didn’t win it all, I think Wong really redeemed himself from the Gamespot tourney and proved that he can hang. Wish I could have seen it in person, but watching from the stream was incredible.

Need a DVD of this.

Man I was like Justin go with Balrog go with Balrog!!! Good shit to both players. Justin will be ready for SBO.

lol ive noticed a lot of people saying shit like the japanese dont play console or use console characters at all. i play sf4 on console in japan and ive met good to great console character players. enough with the ignorance.

well at least the main competitive players, because they are spending time at the arcades : P

^I don’t know about Daigo specifically, but I believe most if not all of the top Japanese players have the game on console (I believe 360) and play it regularly along with their arcade play.

Basing on what ? Respect when he says he has better footsies ? (interview) He just said he was a great player but who can say the contrary.

Hype doesn’t mean being retard and taunting.

Basing on nothing again.
If you have no argument don’t answer my posts please

I don’t see the relation, if you’re good you can be cocky but if you’re not you can’t ? wtf ?

@Fatal Error :
you’re right, it is normal to get pumped when winning, but I don’t see it that way and it seems I’m not the only one thinking that.
There is no jealousy in it, we all say he is a great player and he deserves by his hardwork to be here and winning all those tourneys.
I think we just don’t understand why he is acting like that.

gamers in general pussies. manners aint important cause in the protective buble they play in nothing bad can happen (that jpn vf player kickin reall ass was funny as hell to see). i dont think theyd be yelling and screaming like that lets say, in front of ms13, or arian brotherhood or any other group of people who might not appreciate shit like that. theyre among other gamers who all share the same views and pretty much the same culture and manners.

also it does seem real american to yell and shout BS, just to make yourself heard? you guys are always easily recognizable. thats without even looking. is everybody drunk or just acting like it? especially those guys with the load yeah’s, somebody needs to knock some teeth into them.

This match was incredible. There were so many deep and intense mind-games that were revolving one after another. From an outstanding display of footsies and normals, to mix-ups, to ultra set-ups, and clutch moments…It was an amazing match to experience. I can’t wait for the Evo2k9 DVDs.

If you can back up the shit you talk there should be no problem. Just don’t make people mad enough to want to physically hurt you lol

Truly epic!!!

Simply put, the best sets of matches I’ve ever seen at EVO, PERIOD. And I’m not even that hyped over SFIV anymore but that match was beyond intense, you cut cut the tension with a katana. I was genuinely flushed after that match, it almost felt I was there, watching it live. (special thanks EVO organizers for that)

JWong was “Marvelous” in his initial 2 sets and Daigo was having a hard time fully adapting to his Boxer. Justin Wong brought his A-game to those fights, effectively doing the best footsie/ in-&-out game I’ve ever seen IN MY LIFE! I’ve never been one to go gaga over a good footsie game but damn, Justin was always within pixels out of Daigo’s range, it was beautiful.

Daigo had a strong range game as well- especially during the 1st round of the first set, but didn’t know how to handle Boxer’s range and attack speed as well. He made some incredible clutch predictions and by Set 2 really was trying some seemingly random rushdown to throw Justin off.

Both definitely seemed fearful of one another and were second-guessing themselves a lot to the point where they both reduced their their hit confirm execution significantly. Not a surprise since they were both under unimaginable pressure. Unfortunately for Wong, by Set 3 he seemed to completely run out of steam, he looked mentally exhausted. Daigo on the other hand returned to top form and could sense Wong’s lagging and adapted instantly.

All in all some epic shit. **EPIC! ** <— not the retard internet type epic people use for random shit but 100% uncut puro EPICNESS!!!

it was madness, pure, unadulterated, madness.

Daigo’s ability to adapt during a match is just insane…One has to wonder though if Daigo meets Sanford’s Cammy during the Semi’s…what will happen? Will he has the same fate as his friend Dan? Pretty sure Daigo has no or very few experience vs Cammy or console-only characters…

i think if justin used balrog a little more often(in his sf4 exp), the matches wouldnt even have been close. shit woulda been free. his basic knowledge vs diago’s ryu mastery, was still tight as fuck tho. the man is a genius

clear advantage for high level US players using balrog vs japanese players

Didn’t they state like 50 times that you’re gonna have to buy IGN to get the videos

You just had to ask yourself, what level is he playing at?

lol what made you so sure? oh wait i know, because japanese players dont play the game on console at all

ok thats cool 2 know. they should be better prepared then, although i doubt they spend toooo much time on console characters, as they probably are practicing for the arcade.

They just shouldn’t have brought Triforce up there. He was supposed to be commentating, but he spent the whole time egging his fellow East Coasters on or giving advice like they could hear him. It’s what he should be doing, but not on the mic.
