I've never had an Arcade Stick for fighting games... And im not rich. advice please?

It is worth it if you are going to use it over and over and over.

HRAPs are good, EX2s are not. I’d recommend a Madcatz SE though, especially since you can get them so cheap now.

I think i was refering to the low-end hori sticks, the EX2 and FS3.

but yes, the HRAP’s are great sticks, even the NON-SA/SE versions. the buttons are fine, and when you need to swap em out, its easy as pie.

Okay… like

I have no idea what the hell any of you are talking about… when you get into parts… im just waving a big WTF Flag.

Im a n00b to arcade sticks :\ i mean i know how to put things together… but if its gonna take me forever to do it… then… no thanks… you know?

What about this arcade stick? i also save a little bit more with Cash Back’s program too.

Buy a Madcatz SE stick, save up more after that and mod it.

Newegg’s 72 hour sale has TE’s goin for $119.99 SHIPPED.

Go to Gamestop and ask to see if they have any sticks. if they dont then pre-order the marvel vs capcom 2 TE stick. if you dont have the money then trade in some games for store credit or cash. I have a hori ex 2 stick that i dont use and that thing is a piece of crap compared to my TE for 360. its best to save your money and invest in a TE if you are serious about playing fighting games.

maybe get a new qanba 2 that they are advertising currently

Thats fucking too much money… god… you guys act like i can afford that kinda shit.

cry more plz. Get a fucking job. Seriously. Work at mcdonalds for a week, and you should have enough.

Yes, get the Hori EX2. This thread should be over

It’s not the best stick out there, but someone who has never touched an arcade stick isn’t going to nitpick about the small things that are wrong with the EX2 anyway.

That’s a good deal for the EX2, too. They used to retail for $40 but you would expect to pay well over $80 to get one nowadays…

edit: actually scratch that, the deal is so good that they are sold out  If you can’t find another deal for the EX2 as good as that, you may as well pony up the extra $30 and just get the Madcatz SE. Or consider learning to build your own stick…

motherfuck, you’re 24 and can’t afford $100 on a joystick?

This is a fighting game forum where a good portion of folks like to have arcade sticks with arcade-quality parts - those parts don’t come cheap.

If $100 is too much for an arcade stick, then buy whatever you can afford - just don’t expect a $20 stick to be a joy to play on.

^agreed. Don’t expect sanwa/seimitsu. JLF is like $25 and buttons are like $3 each. You say six 30mm buttons and three 24mm buttons? That’s well over $50 for JLF + Buttons when you add the shipping.

Edit
Here’s a low cost stick with free shipping - http://cgi.ebay.com/PS3-PS2-PC-Street-Fighter-4-joystick-Fight-pad-stick-NW_W0QQitemZ170386200069QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games_Accessories?hash=item27abcf1605&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 I bet its mayflash quality but 3/5 the price.

If you can’t afford the stick from the above link, this might suit you well - http://cgi.ebay.com/NINTENDO-NES-ADVANTAGE-TABLETOP-CONTROLLER-TESTED_W0QQitemZ160301972218QQcategoryZ139969QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3907.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DSIC%26itu%3DUCI%252BUA%252BP%252BFICS%252BUFI%252BIIUM%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D12%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D54

I reckon if you could get an arcade quality stick and buttons on sale you’d have yourself a fantastic stick for less than $80

Also, OP sounds very trollish.

I don’t how it will add up less than $80 if you are going to have a fantastic stick. Even if your arcade joystick and buttons are on sale, you still need a XBOX 360 PCB + enclosure. Lets say enclosure was $10 from somewhere and xbox 360 PAD was $15 from somewhere. That’s already $25 and you would have to pay either shipping or tax or may even both… now you need wire strippers, soldering iron + solder, desoldering wick, and wires. All that and plus shipping or tax or both again. :looney:

If you’re talking about that $30 stick, then yeah, that’d be great. My only complaint is where the start/select buttons are, tbh. Possible re-wire to where the L3 and R3 buttons are at the top? Seriously, who’s gonna click the sticks in for a fighting game.

Not bad, really. But that’s if your a PS3 user, like me. If you’re talking an Xbox Mod, then yeah, it’d definitely be more than $80, in which case you should just get a Madcatz SE.

As for the button placement, agree with Cobra. I have reset PS2 games too many times while trying to press start with my fingers, inevitably hit select along with start, restarting the game.

This is better deal on the EX2 than the SC4 version. Not by much but it’s something.

IMO they’re good while they last, but I’d recommend saving for a better stick. A good one will last you FAR longer. Meaning you’d end up spending a little less in the long run.

What is your monthly income vs your monthly expenses? I’m sure there is something you could cut out. Beer? Weed? Go for the McDouble instead of the Chicken Selects?

I understand not all of us are as privileged as others but if you are living the check to check lifestyle then you got some other priorites besides an arcade stick.

I your case I would save up for a Hori RAP SE because any cheap thing you buy you will eventually replace.
