I've never had an Arcade Stick for fighting games... And im not rich. advice please?

Bassically to sum it up.

Oh and hi, im Allan Caesar, a pretty hardcore Balrog player on HD Remix for the 360.

Anyways! i need an arcade stick, but ive seen them go for so much online… it drives me nuts. I was thinking of maybe buying a good PS2 Arcade stick since those are pretty cheap and buy a mod adaptor that allows me to use it for the Xbox 360.

I pretty much have reached my limits i think that i can do on my analog stick. which is screwing up pretty bad now where down motions don’t work right. and i need to figure out what to do.

Any help would be nice for either my idea or just a straight out Xbox 360 arcade stick. thanks.

And while it would be nice if it was a square gate cause i hear its alot better to use those with charge characters it really does not matter.

 thanks in advance.

I think gamestop sells some fight stick for 360 I’m not sure though. they go around 30-40 dollar which is decent for that amount , call them up good luck

Well if all you have is an Xbox360, then there wouldn’t be any harm in getting just a dedicated stick for that console.

Where a PS2 stick comes in handy is for someone who has a PS2/3, and an Xbox, since there are now adapters for PS3/360 that work well.

The Hori arcade sticks are OK for starting out, but in the end, i think its better just to spend some extra cash for a really sturdy one that will last you a while.

If you do buy a 360 stick, and later want to make it compatible with more consoles, you can always get one of Toodles MC Cthulhu boards and wire it up for PS2, and get adapters.

Also, pretty much all arcade sticks are going to come stock with a square gate.

Unless it’s American style.

Right… any Happ/iL parts are not square.

but anything japanese will have square gates

Just get any lower end stick that’s easily modded so that you can swap in better parts later on.

What is your budget? The HRAP EX SE is coming out soon. You can pre-order from Amazon for $129.99 i think and get free shipping.

I know a bunch of poor people with nice arcade sticks.

Save some money.

You forgot to put in your little bio that you are also a rage-quitting douche. I think you just need a stick that has a Start and A button.

^This.

Save some money. Pack a lunch everyday, don’t spend money on unnecessary things, etc. If you have a job, I don’t see how it’ll be a problem in getting at least a MadCatz SE stick. If you’re barely surviving on your paycheck, then I guess you need to re-think your priorities or manage your finances better.

I was in your situation and I now have 2… nearly 4 custom sticks. Just build 1 over a long period of time so you spend money on it in small amounts as and when you can afford it. See slagcoin.com

Arcade stick = MUST be rich.

Get a goddamn job, Al. You’ve got a negative attitude.
That’s what’s stopping you. You’ve got to get your act together.
I’ll help you.

Do you know how bad you smell? The stench, my God.

Do NOT buy cheap arcade sticks (IE SE Fightstick). If you want the best gameplay possible without nonsense happening with your buttons or joystick, buy something with parts that are gonna last. One button not working can ruin your gameplay by a mile. Save up your money. My suggestion.

Infinite rep for American Psycho quote!!!

Building a stick is pretty cheap if you make it bare bones. MDF + screws will cost you $15, parts will cost you 30-50 for happs + madcatz controller. If you have some basic tools at home (jig saw, sand paper, drill, ruler) you can make a pretty cheap stick.

If you don’t have tools, see if you have any friends/family in construction who are willing to help you out a bit.

The hell are you talking about? A HRAP is all you need.

you fuck…

I almost wanna donate one of my stick lol…

IMO, standard HORI fightsticks are fine to play with. I played SFIV on a Hori SCIV stick and got to near top 100 players on PSN (Grade Points) with no stick problems. I later on sold it to my cousin when I bought my TE, and he plays ST/HDR with it all the time now. If $40-$50 is too much for you to dish out for something you’ll be using all the time for a year or longer, I don’t know what to tell you, man.

Check ebay for good deals. I got a HRAP on there for $60 in great condition. Others have gotten better deals than me ($73 for a TE). Also, check craigslist.

I know some are against it, but maybe get the SE, see if you like the feel of it. If you don’t, return it.If you do, keep it and mod the parts out later. I say worry about the feel because the weight/shape of the unit is something that isn’t easily changed. Also, keep in mind that getting used to stick takes awhile, especially if you started with pad. Took me about a month since I got my stick to get used to it, mostly due to the square gate (Alpha 2 has no short cut inputs though and so it’s still a bitch to do supers :frowning: ).

For me, part of the fun stuff is making the stick your own and modding it.
