Watching NerdJosh’s Frank reminded me of something: Frank West players need to be careful about killing characters before the Snapshot and level ups.

I just saw Frank roll past Hawkeye’s super.

Frank is a monster.

Been playing as Frank now for 2 days now and I found my main. He is such a great character and dat Roll is Godlike.

I faced another Frank player and he did a double team super with Dante and after Frank finished his super, he was constantly taking Snapshots while Dante was still going at it with his super building levels dramatically.

Very clever, too bad I’m not a Dante user.

Some minor things so far. The “Weapon Attack” assist is just Tools of Survival L. Also, Survival Techniques just has invincibility in later levels, contrary to what the OP says.

What happens when you hit assist characters with the camera shot, are assist worth any point?

It adds to the counter, but if it doesn’t hit the point character you won’t level up.

I think they are but I could be wrong.

OK a few notes to take in, when on lvl 4-5 dont go all wild spamming :h: etc although i got mad range. Roll + instant overhead (need i say more >.>). Frank pretty much is ass lvl1 u can just push block and he cant do shit period, i really dont know how he will open u up on lvl 1, he needs a beam assist for sure . The only thing Frank have is cr.:l: st.:m: cr.:h: zombie thats up close, far range he needs beam assist, so send slow zombie call beam assist and go in…

is it possible to get a snapshot with frank west when u thc with nemesis cus im planning on running Frank/Nemesis/Vergil

Can someone give a quick rundown of his specials and the commands? The first post kinda stops midway, lol.

Camera is :qcf::s:, Drinking is :d::d::s:, Tools of Survival is :qcf::atk: I get, but what about the zombies? Or the zombie spin thing? Or the command to throw pies? And hypers?

^Based on what I’ve pieced together from sugar packets:
QCB+ATK is Zombie Giant Swing
F+H is Projectile (Pies, then OJ)
Charge back, F+atk is hammer throw zombie
Not sure on hypers apart from SRK+3atk being the servbot helmet one.

I don’t have UMvC3 yet (it’s arriving later today if all goes well) so had a non-idiot friend test this. As in, someone who reasonably understands fighting games and knows how to test engine-level things. He set things up such that a training dummy was blocking all low and mid attacks every time, then had Ryu try a f.M overhead. It hit.

Then he tried Centurion Rush assist. It hit. I’m willing to accept this as “Centurion Rush assist hits overhead.”

I have no video, but I also have no reason whatsoever to doubt my friend’s results; he has no reason to lie when I can verify them in about 12 hours, and he’s not incompetent at fighting games (he explicitly listed what was being blocked and what was hitting, on what training AI blocking settings), so I’m pretty sure the Rider Kick assist hits overhead. Frank/Nova/Amaterasu is go for me!

Adding to that, hypers are QCF+AA for Shopping Cart, QCB+AA for Blue Light Special and DP+AA for Servbot swing.

You can get 2 pics with Frank/Nemesis. One pic with Frank/Vergil. 2 pics when it’s all three.

It works, but the follow up sometimes is hard. The slash pushes them really far so the follow up when using Frank is dependent on your screen positioning. THe closer to the wall, the easier. Also, when doing this be very careful because it has a bit of startup. It’s easy to get happy birthdayed.

Just tested it out myself. It’s an overhead.

I posted a combo a page back talking about a way for Nova to get a bunch of hits for Frank’s leveling up, but that is way to inconsistent and difficult. There is a ridiculously easy way to get Frank to level 4 (one combo away from 5) with only two meter and no assists.

Basically, just do any combo with Nova really, and get the opponent in a launch jump for the last hits. Once they are in the air and you hit them with an :h: to keep them there, do a Super Nova. Ending the Super Nova before it gets a certain number of hits forces the opponent in a HARD KNOCKDOWN STATE. You’ll notice because instead of being launch in an arc, they kind of just fall down, similar to how Thor does his mighty tornado loop in Vanilla. End the super a little early with Frank’s Survival Techniques. The super should whiff against the falling opponent, which gives you ample time to take a picture with about 80 or so hits stored. All you need is one combo with Frank, which is ridiculously easy at level 4, to get to level 5.

Edit: An easy way to tell if you DHC’d Super Nova with Survival Techniques at the correct time, is listening to Nova’s quote. If it sounds like he’s saying “Power of th-FRANK,” then you did it perfectly. However, I usually DHC so it sounds like “Power of Frank!” Just to have some sort of cue in there helps.

That sounds pretty cool. I’ll test out some ideas with that myself when UMvC3 arrives. “Late airplane,” UPS says. I can see that. Why the hell did you clowns ship my copy of the game halfway across the country in the wrong direction?

Anyway… if Power of the Nova Force provides about 80ish hits, I wonder how we can tack on the rest in a Nova combo so that Frank gets a full five levels off this. Seems like it’d require using a few bounces? Assuming HSD doesn’t make them fall out, at least.

If I can somehow work Zero into the team (Doom is my current anchor), then I’ll be getting that Mega Nova Corps team (with X alts for both characters, lol). Should be awesome.

Anyway, I’m pretty sure Nova can pull something like that, but the combo would be a bit difficult to set up. Doing the regular magic series into relaunch - :h: Super Nova nets you around 80 hits. If you don’t cancel it, you’ll get around 90, but then they won’t go into a hard knock down state. I’d honestly rather play it safe, because the changes for Frank from L. 4 to L. 5 is miniscule. Plus, one more combo with Frank after the Nova set up guarantees a level 5 snapshot into a Super of your choice.
