I've covered wars y'know - Frank West thread

Dude who told us about level 5 right after Frank’s reveal said it’s just a damage boost. Since he was right about the blue glow I’m inclined to believe him.

There may be something else he didn’t notice, but let’s just go with damage boost for now.

Screw Real Mega Buster, we got “Yeah, now we’re BOOYAH!” now.

I’m really surprised by how much I like this guy.

It is because of how true he is to Dead Rising 1.
One of the primary reasons I fell in love with Frank was because his voice actor really knew how to sell the character. There is a certain ferocity to everything he says, and it gives him alot of power as a character.

Since when was Seth “just a PR guy”?

Upon review of his trailer, he definitely still uses a plunger at level 2 and uses a sledgehammer for him normals at level 3. So the stab move isn’t directly connected to his normals.

YEEAAAH NOW WE’RE

BOOYAAAAHHHHH

What does he say in the startup of his weapon hyper? It sounds like “Time to go to town!”

Well, perhaps I am downplaying his role in things. However, I have been following Marvel vs Capcom since almost around the time it was announced, and Seth primarily just handles relations with the public (PR). He just kind of goes through things quickly and rarely gets deep into anything.

On the internal side of things, perhaps he has alot of things going on (It is why I always assume that he just kinda rushed through things and misinforms the public by accident). Regardless, to me he has always been a PR guy. Like, “the American” in a room full of little asian developers.

More importantly (though yes that’s what he’s saying I believe), what the HELL is he saying at the end of his Servbot super.

Sounds like he was already drunk and slurred out crap.

Sounds to me like “THAT’S O-K.”

I think he says “That felt great/good!”

I think he just says “Huyugh”

It’s not like he CAN go in depth. The majority of the people who watch his breakdowns don’t want to be mystified by unknown terminology or complicated explanations.

The guy has been a part of the scene for years, to the point where I sometimes feel that he doesn’t always buy what the dev team tells him to say but says it anyway because he overall loves what he’s doing right now.

Not the slam down. The end of it, after the explosion.

…I have to ask. Where’d this “Yeah, now we’re booyah!” thing come from? I know the line was originally “Yeah, now we’re talkin’!” because Frank says that fairly regularly in DR1 and DR2OTR… but where’s the ‘booyah’ from?

In his cart hyper, the BOOYAH interrupts the “Yeah, now we’re talkin’!” in such a way that it was just too funny.

I’ve been crunching numbers based on the vids and what’s been said about leveling up in this thread.

First: BnB looks to be something like, LMHS, sj.M,M, stabby move X2 (10 hits), H, S, otg camera, for a 19 hit combo (seen in theird gameplay vid). Just barely avoids leveling up to 3 in one combo (assuming the levels gains are at 5/20/50/100).

With assist to continue after otg, pending on the followup and hitstun deteriation, you can add anywhere from 4 (assist, launch, s, camera) to ?? hits before the second camera otg. Combo counter is 23 at minimum, gaining you at least 23 exp for the second camera, and you are REALLY close to lvl4 with a total of 42 exp. Can possibly hit lvl 4 in one combo with an optimal followup, no XFC, no meter use, no aerial tag shenanigans… Kind of cool right?

One last neat thing. In one of the vids, the zombies when they grab, look like they give Frankie enough time to drink up, and jump in with a combo. Meaning our BnB camera otg will end with 20 hits, and 40 exp for an instant level 3 combo.

If you CONTINUE that combo with an assist, you can bring the combo from 23 to questionmarks, making the entire combo worth 86 exp, at MINIMUM. Guaranteed Lvl 4, possibly level 5 pending optimal followup (literally only 7 more hits), and you can end in a shopping cart super DHC to get frank out before drunk vomiting happens.

TL,DR; Frank’s zombies are godlike on hit.

Also, a question, in one of seth’s gameplay walkthroughs (the one that’s actually a match), the frank tries to land air grab super off of shopping cart super wall bounce, and seth says he did it “too soon”. This implys that it’s possible to combo into his air grab super? Anyone see anything on this?

It’s possible I’m misinterpereting it, but that would be SO COOL. BnB to camera XX shopping cart, bulldog super, Camera XX ANOTHER SUPER? Oh PLEASE let that bulldog be comboable.

INH: Yeah, now we’re thank you! for clarifying that.

Pandaman: Interesting numbers. We’ll have to see how that turns out in the lab!

I think you put how PP works incorrectly. 19 hits isn’t almost Lv.3. 24 is. When it says 5/20/50/100, I’m pretty sure it means “5 from one to two, then another 20 from two to three,” etc.

In other words, you’re making it seem like 5/15/30/50, which would make leveling up way too easy.

Also, in the interest of clarity going forward (we’ve already seen the confusion wrought by Frank having “level 1 supers” and “level 3 supers” of entirely different concepts of ‘level’), I would like to propose that we adopt special names for the Frank West Character Levels. For example, you may be familiar with “Fighting Seriously Mr. Karate” from SvC Chaos, “Aura of Murderous Intent Awakened Ryu” from SF Alpha 3 Console Ports, etc.

Level 5 Frank West could be referred to as NFAA Frank West, or “Not Fucking Around Anymore Frank West”.

Edit: A more serious proposal, we could multiply by ten when referring to Character Levels. Frank West in Dead Rising games starts at level 1, and his Level 10 form in those games is fairly close to how Level 1 Frank in UMvC3 behaves. For example, we could call Level 1 “Level 10”, Level 2 as “Level 20”, etc. up to Level 5 for Level 50.

This makes it easier to understand whether you’re referring to Frank West’s character levels, or super meter expenditures. What do you think? Would this solve a real problem on our end? Or is it largely unnecessary?
