I’m looking to get back into HDR and IV…but not without an arcade stick. Is the regular SF IV fightstick good enough? I’ve seen some people mention “Sanwa” or whatever, and it seems some people make their own sticks. What’s the difference? Will I be at some disadvantage if I purchase the regular fight stick?
TE stick is the best but consider another store or website other than gamestop like amazon or something like that or here on srk. Gamestop’s customer service sucks and you’re gonna need good customer service after you order something and it doesnt come at all or it comes damaged or broken(which gamestop is notorious for doing and has done it to me before). Read the reviews about them to get the gist of this, although I want to give gamestop the gist of my fist(mk reference~Johnny Cage)
Ok, let’s say hypothetically I walk into a store and buy the thing tomorrow. How long might it last me if I use it regularly and don’t upgrade the parts? Thanks for the insight so far.
Correction: the SE parts suck, but the case is good. They will suck from the moment you perform your first move in-game (even before that!). You will want to swap them out for better parts ASAP.
So, buy a TE and play as is, buy a SE and mod to better parts, or get one of the other sticks. (customs or other top sticks)
I know where you’re coming from, I was the same and so are most others. You just want to get an affordable stick without the hassle of modding and stuff.
BUT, you get what you pay for. Get a TE or mod your SE with Sanwa/Seimitsu from the get go.
I would go with the TE Stick. Like Bull Suggested, Amazon has them for slightly under $100. Or you could get an HrapEX SE or SE Stick(I dont see the SE Stick much anymores but you’ll need to mod the buttons on both and the stick on the SE Stick as HrapEX has Sanwa stick in there already). Goodluck.
Hey, guess what? _/ Care cup empty. I play with most of the users here and I “know” them, therefore I like to hear their insight. Go cry about my off-topic post in the premium forum, I’m sure many nerds will be there ready to hear your grieving.
Fulanni - Yeah, you get me. I’m not willing to take this thing too far because I just want to be able to sit down and kill a few matches. Obviously I have a goal to be competitive because I did pretty good with a pad, so I’d like to see where the stick takes me.
Anyway, I’m going to get the Mad Catz stick this weekend or next. I’ll be getting the regular one. Hopefully you guys give me some adjustment time, I’ve always been horrible with analog sticks in fighters :S
Back when TE sticks were impossible to find for MSRP, I’d say going with a modded SE stick was the way to go, but nowadays you can get a TE for around $100 so there’s really no reason not to get one (unless you prefer the smaller size of the SE). You’d spend $50 to upgrade the SE to all Sanwa anyway.
Also, be sure to know that the HRAP EX comes with Hori buttons, which will have to be replaced because Hori buttons are shit.
Speaking for myself, I say that huge and hefty is good. When you’re reaction buttslamming, you want your stick to stay on your lap, not jump up in the air a bit every time.
I hear the TE parts out of the box aren’t that great…I remember buying a TE stick & then selling for a lot more then i paid for. I really didn’t like the feel to it, i do like the SE sticks though.
As for the reason why my stick is so loud, my setup is connected to my Hyper Fighting cabinet. The microphone is right next to the buttons & im masher too…:razzy:
