what kinda damage are you guys getting with solo Dante? I’m running him on anchor so as much as possible I’d like to omit assists.

my best combo in the corner is around 703k: j.H, cr.L, st.M, st.H ~ Stinger bc Volcano, j.H xx Airplay, j.H, S ~ Clay Pigeon ~ Prop Shredder, SJ, Hammer, Volcano ~ Beehive, dash back, S ~ Clay Pigeon (2 hits) ~ Stinger bc Sky Dance (last hit whiffs), Acid Rain, Volcano, j.S, Volcano ~ Beehive xx Million Dollars.

Get rid of crL and your combo’s dmg should go up a bit.

In the corner, you can just do the Jam Session infinite if you have XF3

If you wanna play Dante without learning BC then more power to you but it is an essential part to his game. Sooner or later, you’re gonna reach a skill level where the extra dmg and meter from BC combos will be essential.

For playing Dante without BCing, I can suggest a few things.

  • Dont use DT in the middle of combos. It wastes a bar and limits you from building meter meaning you need two bars to do anything
  • Stop using :l: in your combos that way the dmg is better in the end. Only use :l: to punish unsafe moves.

Dont know the dmg/meter build but you can replace the Stinger BC Volcano by doing crH xx Volcano however the difference in dmg is huge (around 100k IIRC).

In the corner I suggest using

jH land MHS sj jMM Killer Bee land S sj jMMH Sky Dance (bounces) two shots of Cold Shower xx Stinger BC Sky Dance Beehive (catches them as soon as they’re falling) then another Volcano xx Beehive. Good meter and dmg IIRC and the only time you BC, you have to wait for Dante to jump. The only hard part in that combo is linking Beehive after Sky Dance which can be done consistently after a few tries.

Well there’s nothing you can do with the tenderizer assist. That is impossible to do combo extensions with. But you can somewhat benefit from nova’s centurion rush. You can reset the ground bounce if you’re in the corner. Just do the basic starter>:f:+:h:>BC>volcano>j:h:>air play>j:h:>:h:>:df::h::h:>prop shredder>hammer>volcanoxxbeehive>:df::h::h:>:f:+:h:>Bold move>hammer>:a1:>volcanoxxbeehive>:f:+:h:>BC>volcanoxxbeehive>million dollars

Outside of the corner though you can do this off of a j:s:/hammer confirm j:s:/hamme>volcano>j:m:>j:h:>killer bee>:s:>:h::h:>:f:+:h:>BC teleport>hammer>:a1:>:df::h::h:>grapple shot>:s:>:h::h::h::h::h:>reverb shock>fireworks>million dollars

Both do about 750K for one bar. And that last part of the second combo can be done in this midscreen combo too

Guess you never played DMC then. Also the combos are more reliable because stuff like LMHS doesn’t even combo anymore so you’re losing out on damage because you’re not front loading your combos with the more damaging options. With the meter gain nerf in this game you’re gimping yourself using DT mid-combo. Dante’s new scaling has toned down his damage a bit, but he’s still one of the best, if not the best, battery in this game and DT combos give that up. Food for thought. Bold blocking is also really dumb, in the good way.

On another note my fraudulent ass finally adjusted my combos for Ultimate, just wondering if this is up to par/where it can be improved. Both combos are roughly 700k.

Both combos aren’t utilizing the ground bounce reset into beehive so I’m curious if I really should be trying to go for that. Also, any tips on shoot loops? In the corner I know I can do at least 2 reps before stinger, but I’m not that consistent with it. I do really integrate it into my play though. Not to mention it’s stylish as hell.

Any tips for this? I don’t see how there is enough time to do Acid Rain, then Volcano. I can do everything up to that, but while I’m doing Acid Rain, the enemy gets up. And the last hit of Sky Dance IS whiffing, and I’m trying to do Acid Rain at the earliest possible chance I can. Anyways, I’m just getting back to Marvel. Spent a lot of time playing with Dante in Vanilla and I’m trying to figure out all the different changes and if there any combos that I can still pull off.

timing is really strict. you need to do Acid Rain then Volcano as early as possible. anyways, I don’t even do this anymore since I can groundbounce reset with Hidden Missiles. after Prop Shredder, SJ Hammer, I just walk back, 4 shots of Cold Shower, Stinger, Hammer, call Doom, Volcano ~ Beehive, delayed Stinger bc Skydance, Beehive, Stinger bc Jestream. gets me about 760k off a j.H if I’m not mistaken.

Two things I still haven’t gotten down with Dante: Charge Shot loops and Beehive after Sky Dance in the corner? Anyone mind helping me out with the setups for these?

still don’t know how to do Charge Shot loops but Beehive after Skydance is pretty easy. just need to make sure the last hit of Skydance connects then link Beehive. just make sure you’re going straight into Beehive, so skip Volcano and do 623MM, then it’s all about timing for linking the Beehive after recovering from Skydance.

After any hard knockdown or bounce do only two shots of Cold Shower into Stinger so that when you BC into Sky Dance, it fully connects. Then it’s just a matter of timing

After Stinger wallbounce you need to plink S~H while doing a QCF, then H again for grapple. It has to be done late after the stinger or the grapple will miss, which is why the plink is useful.

You should get some Beehive ground bounce resets in there. He can do them solo and you have Sentinel on your team. If you have Sentinel on your team there’s really no reason to not utilize them. Each Skydance>Beehive adds a respectable amount of damage to your combos and a lot of meter.

Yeah, I’m working on getting that stuff down but for some reason I can never get Beehive to come out after Skydance.

Yeah it just takes practice. Once you figure out the timing, it’s ridiculously easy.

You want them to be above you but not too high where the last hit of sky dance will whiff. It’s easier once you get it the first few times. You want to be completely done with Skydance before you start inputting the Ms for Beehive. You should just input the whole DP+MM really fast when you get out of the recovery of Skydance and they start flying away.

basically, if Dante is level with them and looking right at them you did it wrong and it’s probably gonna whiff on Beehive.
