It's showtime! Come on! Dante Combo Thread -Will be updated to UMvC3 standards soon.-

You could of let Beehive finish for the ground bounce, and do another Volcano-Beehive or Jet Stream-Fireworks for additional damage.

I feel so dumb for not even trying that lol. Average damage is 725k~ now, pretty good IMO. Haven’t bothered trying Volcano, Revolver~Fireworks but I don’t even think it’ll work because of HSD.

thats pretty funny thats the exact same combo ive been working on yesterday glad to know im not that far off the mark since i havent been able to get on this site much at all since the game came out.

after the first beehive you can do downshots (twice) >stinger bold cancel J.S into another volcanoe>beehive followed by jetstream fireworks mill dollars and it still works but i dont even think you get any extra damage than the 710k you get for the shorter variant.

main prob ive been having is getting the opp to land on the stinger after the upward shots, since the different sizes and weights of the characters vary the timing quite a bt and the timing is already pretty damn tight for it. try it out against she hulk and youll often go under her so you need to delay the stinger very slightly.

most reliable way ive found is to press the H button twice after the S which gives you 3 shots (i think). im probs gonna hit the lab again for a more reliable version of it since im not a fan of having to adjust combos for every character in the game.

I use nini’s method, which is basically just press h once (2 shots) stinger. You can link the stinger during a good portion of the ending frames, so try canceling as soon as you notice the character falling. Don’t wait until you think the shot recovery is done, just time as you would think the stinger will hit. I went from like 20% success rate to 80% like this.

Wouldn’t you get more doing Cold shower into stinger lvl 2 then Sky Dance, acid rain, volcano, j.S, volcano xx beehive super?

Yes that damage is including the starter.

How does one get Beehive after Falling Sky in the corner (after Stinger LvL 2).

You mean Sky Dance?

Sorry, yeah.

Also, is anyone else having problems getting BC Grapple from Stinger LvL2 after Beehive? It wasn’t a problem in Vanilla, but due to this game’s even more retarded input system, I’m getting Jet Stream on the regular, despite the fact that the motion is in the complete opposite-fucking-direction.

(after a hard knockdown) Do 2 shots of Cold Shower into Stinger BC Sky Dance then link a Beehive (note: Dont wait for Volcano to come out, go straight into Beehive)

The 2 shots make it so that the Sky Dance doesnt cross up

It’s bc Capcom made it so that Stinger crosses up more. Although even when doing it right, 90% of the time I get Jam Session instead of Grapple

I think I kind of have a solution to that. instead of doing :f:+:h:>:qcf:h I’m getting grapple more when I make the :qcf: a full half circle forward. So like :f:+:h:>:b::db::d::df::f::h: if that helps? Honestly I never use grapple in a combo. I only use it to trick people into thinking im doing hysteric missiles.

I dont use it in combos either but Im always tryna find something stylish so I was trying it out before and at midscreen I always got Jam Session instead

Thanks a lot guys.

ok wth is stinger lvl 2 about? i keep seeing it…what the difference btwn that and regular stinger?

I dunno what change capcom made but if you’re too close when doing the Stinger, Dante will cross up and your inputs will be reversed. Which is why using 44S~H>Stinger is a lot more reliable than cold shower>stinger now because the cold shower actually moves forward a bit. If you absolutely have to use cold shower, try not to be too close. I know Richard “Dickwin” does a slight backdash whenever he has to use cold shower to get it not to fuck up.

In Vanilla and probably in this one as well, you can just walk back before doing Cold Shower when in the corner. I always saw Josh Wong do it but I wasnt sure why and I dont think this is why.

There’s no difference really besidest that Stinger lvl2 is the one that causes a wallbounce. They look exactly the same and have the same input, Stinger lvl2 is just what it’s called when you use it after a gun move (Cold Shower and Up Shots)

The height at which stinger crosses up an opponent is different in this game than in vanilla. So Dante crosses through the opponent and your :qcf: gets interpreted on the other side as :qcb:. In vanilla the only time it happened to me was occasionally after Launch > Charge Shots > Stinger. The cross up happens at a lower height in this game, about the height that OTG’ing an opponent with all 4 hits of Cold Shower would put them at. My solution was to only do the first two hits of Cold Shower before canceling into Stinger, or to do Volcano~Beehive first to get the opponent up higher. They also solve the double cross up BS that sometimes happens with Cold Shower > Stinger > Air Trick at midscreen.

Slow down the motion/return to neutral before inputting the :qcf:, I guess.

I completely stole dickwin’s tactic of, after a hammer knockdown, casually walking back for a moment before the Cold Shower -> Wallbounce extension.

As for Grapple, you have to do it a certain way now, I believe. You have to wait considerably after the stinger… and then do a raw Bold Move xx Hysteric xx Grapple. You can practice it while standing dead still, but basically, the motion is 2, 3LS, 6H. I do it with a Index on LS, other finger hits H, etc etc. Very much a drumroll, plink sort of thing.

This was, IMO, the better way to do it in Vanilla too(Pretty sure you had to do it this way, if you wanted to do Cold Shower(2 shot) -> Stinger -> Grapple in the corner, in Vanilla). But, it’s easy to tell, if you were accustomed to doing this in vanilla, that the window to bold cancel is a little tighter. It presses you pretty tight between Bold Moving and getting a Million Dollars. I’d err on the side of the MD, so at least it’s not a waste if it doesn’t come out how you wanted it to.

More people really need to start realizing how gdlk Grapple is. It forces a neutral grounded recovery, without requiring an assist. That makes it just about *the best reset in the game, *realtalk. The first match in my Honzo set(videos thread) has an example of this in action, etc.

cold shower bounces higher compared to vanilla, so you cross under sometimes. happened with cap sometimes in vanilla

after level 3, if combo is too scaled you wont get a level 1 after otg super. instead, do a (very charspecific) dash up volcano>beehive, cancel to super as soon as the kicks start hitting

What is Dante’s go to bnb combo? Like, not something easy mode for scrubs, but something that is practical, consistent, and damaging.

I really want to pick this character up, but I feel so behind. I don’t know where to start with his combos.
