i was practicing smexy’s J.:s: bnb ( i think its number 7 on the first page) and ive come up with a slight variant, does a little more damage (about 720k), and i find is a bit easier to pull off (i for the life of me cant get the timing down for volcano or jet stream after a killer bee, timing seems kinda tight), seems to work in the corner and midscreen.

props to smexy for helping me improve on my old J.S bnb.

J.:s:,:dp::m:(volcano), J.:m:,:qcf::m:(air play),J.:h:, S.:h:, :s: ,J.:h:,:qcf::l:(killer bee), S.:h:,:s:, (mash):h:(up charge shots),:qcb::l:(reverb shock), (mash) :h:(fireworks), :qcf::atk::atk: (million dollars)

you need to wait for them to drop just in front of you before the reverb shock, or else when you mash H for fireworks they can sometimes cross you up and drop out of the combo.

Hmmm, I must be doing it too slow, because they always seem to fall out right as my second J.:h: is about to hit. I’ll practice with it a bit more later.

Try doing Volcano>J.M>J.H>236M66>J.H>Launcher. You get more leeway this way IMO.

I’m kind of having a “combo crisis” right now. Midscreen I always do the non-char specific BNB that everyone uses (prop shredder teleport hammer blahblahblah) but I really can’t decide what combo to do in the corner. Is it worth spending days in the lab to get acid rain loops down? From what I’ve gathered it’s pretty inconsistent for more than 2 loops on average sized chars. Basically what combo is truly the best one for dante right now in the corner

Two loops of acid rain is worth it for the meter alone, if you ask me.

Acid rain loop isn’t as daunting to learn as it may seem. If you have precise inputs, it should be a breeze for you. If you’re mashy like me, you’ll have a bit of trouble.

Still, it’s worth learning. The meter gain from it is very good, and the damage increase, although slight is still a damage increase. As for inconsistency beyond 2 reps, I only find that problem mid screen. In the corner, you can loop it for a while on everyone. I’m pretty sure it could be an infinite with perfect execution and the right conditions(tip of shredder)

As for your question, I don’t know about the best combo, but stuff>shredder>acid rain reps>hammer>wild stomp>stinger>BC>the hammer>volcano>beehive>stinger(corner only)>BC>jetstream>fireworks into super or crazy dance into DHC glitch seems to be pretty decent.

probably somewhat char specific, j.M>airplay>j.H>5h>5s>shots>shredder is really nice as midscreen acid set up

I’m having trouble connecting prop shredder in the corner. I’m doing m,h,f+h, bold cancel into volcano j.h, air play, j.h, h, s, h,h, prop shredder andddd I miss most of the time. I’ve tried adjusting the timing or shortening the combo. I’m new to this character and I wanted to know if I was practicing a corner combo that doesn’t work.

skip the st.H after j.H in corner if you don’t want to do a corner starter/don’t confirm it in annoying stages where you can’t see the corner

otherwise, 7 jump against most of the cast if you’re close to the corner, j.M>airplay>j.H.5h>3hhh>etc

tron=easiest, just do it to get inputs right

everyone else… you have to get a feel for how long they stay in the air (via confirming how many shots hit on the way down) and decide if you can go into another loop/skip to j.S, or if you have to do 5s>j.S, or worse case scenario, you have to cancel to DT/millon dollars since 5s won’t hit.

generally, you do NOT want to do acid rain ASAP since it usually ends up with them at the top of the possible hitbox, and the shots falling down fall too fast, causing less total air time. optimal spot for them to be is just below the celing, but not too far down that you only get 1 volley

diff chars have different weights and fall faster/slower, so you’ll have to do it on most of the cast and associate a certain weight with them.

So for the first acid rain you ideally want them to get hit by every shot? when I do prop shredder is it better if they’re in front of dante or on top of him?

On top. The best is when Dante looks like he’s slightly in front of their bodies while the sword is spinning. The rain pushes them sideways a bit when it dissolves which is why getting more than 2-3 reps midscreen is hard/impossible on certain charact

And yeah you got it. In the corner, it’s more about how high you launched them, and how fast you can input acid rains I find. If twister didn’t exist, we could just mash 236A repeatedly and keep it going much easier.
If they’re falling out before the nth rain falls back down on them, you can launch them back into it with S and go into hammer/J.S/TK Revolver/TK Volcano-Hive to salvage the combo

Jump with 7. Look at the number pad on your keyboard. In other words, jump back.

This is the combo Feli explained. You either backdash after killer bee or walk back a few steps, then launch with :s: charge shots, reverb, fireworks.
The point of moving backwards is so that fireworks won’t crossup and miss.
I’ll also point out that after doing 2 reps of the charge shot loop, I got anywhere from 750-770k. I’m pretty happy with this combo right now since I haven’t even mastered the corner variants ending with stinger and the damage/ease of execution is already really good.

Is it just me or is it really hard to do acid rain reps on ironman?

i think the most optimal j.S/hammer bnb (so far, anyways) is:

j.S or The Hammer, Volcano, j.H > Air Play, j.H, [S > Charge Shot x 2] x 5, S > Charge Shot > Stinger > Bold-cancel Air Trick, The Hammer, Volcano > Beehive, Stinger > Bold-cancel Jet Stream > Fireworks > (Million Dollars) or (Devil Must Die, dash-in, Volcano > Beehive)

its godlike because it gives him does more damage and gives more bars more than anything besides combos that do more than 5 acid rains. you get more than enough bars for the level 3, in fact.

there are a lot of ways to go into prop shredder in corner without 7 jump, but what i use is j.M>airplay>j.H>st.H>3hhhh>prop shredder

and yeah, charge shot loop into stinger wall bounce is definitely the best combo after j.S. i myself can’t really use it well because hitting the stinger/the actual charge shot loop varies between each character and i’d rather not drop my combo.
