I know nothing about Dante. I really don’t. I haven’t even touched him until today and I know he’s been through a lot since Vanilla MVC3, so rehashing the thread would be a great help for myself and other like me who don’t even know a basic BnB much less a high damage combo applying a major amount of his move set.

I’m going through it right now and am already trying to practice Bold Cancels. Been doing this low damage BnB to help me get used to BC:

:l::m::h:, Stinger, Bold Cancel, Reverb, Fireworks, Million Dollars.

Having trouble getting the timing on the Bold Cancel, of course. Trying to press Bold Cancel mid :qcb: for Reverb. Just wondering if anyone new of a sweet spot or an easier way to do it.

I’ve also been trying Stinger, Bold Cancel, Teleport, but seeing as I’ve only just picked up Dante today, I have no idea what it’s combo potential is but it looks good for mix-ups.

Just think of it like inputting the bold cancel allows you to 2-in-1 your Stinger.

You time the bold cancel like you would a cancel out of the move (like a low forward xx hadoken) then input the reverb/etc before Dante leaves the ground.

Does anyone know any 2 meter combo with Dante/Vergil (Rapid Slash) that does 1 mill??
I’ve been on the lab, but the most I can get is around 960-970k. I was hoping someone might have a better version.

These are the combos I’ve been using. I can do them reliably online so I dont think they’re hard.
You can add an extra super at the end of both to reach 1 mill, but I want to stay on the the two meter range. They’re both in the corner.

You guys have any tips on Dante’s neutral play? I’m having trouble with his spacing and movement, and getting in safely in particular.

Looks like the marlinpie combo should be our go to easy BnB. Pretty much the same as the regular bnb but with a Million Carats thrown in after prop shredder

And no don’t press buttons. Use double jumps to cross up and high lows thats the strategy. Thats how most good dantes like pr rog and yipes play. Also for safety he has plenty of good block strings into jam session(i think) can’t remember which one at the moment.

^lol did James Chen’s commentary get to you dude? naw, only kidding. it’s Reverb Shock ~ Fireworks. I’ve actually managed to save myself by jump cancelling Volcano into Reverb if I don’t block-confirm fast enough, wonder if you guys do that too.

But isnt that only viable in the corner because of the low height the opponent must be at in Prop? AFAIK, the only way to get that height midscreen is using the Killer Bee variation which uses your ground bounce.

Also, do you know why/how to get it so that they dont cross up after Cold Shower xx Stinger BC Million Carats (wait) Stinger BC Volcano xx Beehive? They cross up after the second Stinger 80% of the time making me do Revolver and end up behind them.

Not sure, that almost never happens to me. Try delaying the 2nd stinger or something

Is Volcano jump cancel-able on whiff though? I don’t think it is, so if you get pushblocked early you’ll be forced to spend a meter on DT to stay safe.

On whiff? no but it jc on block. But you’re right, it’s still unsafe to adv. guard. I’ve actually been playing people who are smart (or lucky) and adv. guard before Reverb touches them which is why I’ve been working on getting Fireworks to come out even if it doesnt connect

Haven’t posted in a while, I’ve come up with some stuff but my main computer is a wreck right now so I don’t feel like trying to make videos.

  • You can hyper cancel j.:s: the moment you touch the ground, just like bold move. Forgive me if that has been discovered already, but through the miracle of input errors I also discovered that you can dash cancel the moment you touch the ground. Strangely, it is impossible to mash it (It fails consistently using turbo) but anyone who can do it consistently should get blatantly ridiculous frame advantage for free, in addition to making landing much safer. You can also do stupid shit like: Morrigan super jumps to starting chucking soul fucks > teleport > j.s > dash cancel upon landing > cross under sword hilt, etc.

  • For setting up acid rain at midscreen, you can abc > stinger > volcano > j.h > air play > j.h > dash > s > charge shots > prop shredder > acid rain x1/x2 and so on. Doesn’t work on Zero, because he floats too high up in the air. Works on Rocket Raccoon though. Speaking of whom, this deals with standing s whiffing due to pushback on j.h on characters such as Rocket Racoon.

  • This moves Dante up close enough to the opponent, that instead of going into charge shots > prop shredder after the :s:, you can instead follow them up and sj.mh > killer bee > back dash > s > charge shots > stinger > etc. for more damage than any prop shredder combo I can think of. Have yet to find someone it doesn’t work on. It’s essentially the old vanilla easy mode combo.

  • Someone online (Terry Bogard 18 on xbl) showed me that after acid rain, to avoid the opponent not floating long enough after the rain hits on the way back down for j.:s:/hammer to connect (i.e. acid rain > s/volcano > j.s/hammer) you can do j.m or j.h and then hammer. Holds them in place for the hammer to connect regardless of whether the rain would self-juggle on the way down and no time is spent on the jump cancel from a grounded move, making it work very reliably. Works off essentially any prop shredder, they can be incredibly low to the ground and it still works very well. Doing so off of a connected j.s/hammer > cold shower > prop shredder > acid rain allows Dante to build over a full bar by himself at midscreen but does even less damage than the combo would without the acid rain. This of course very useful for building meter during air throw combos as well.

Question: I’ve been having trouble getting my Cold-Shower to go into Stinger consistently. I usually input Stinger too early, or too late, and it’s never consistent, it always seems to be different, but that’s cause Mashables give me trouble.

Is there a method people have of doing this accurately? Or is this just a tempo issue? I’ve been trying for almost a week, and I can’t get the CS to come out the same each time.
