Its official MvC2 is back with online play!

so i played the demo today for ps3. i was so excited to actually try it. little did i know there were only six characters selectable. ryu, strider, spiderman, ironman, wolvie, and i forgot who was the other. didn’t really care. Straight to the point. The menu selection is pretty intense. As for the gameplay…ehhhhh. whenever i do the ironman inf. there are some major slowdowns. some glitches with the screen trying to catch up with the fast frame movements or something. but the timing is off. I could only carry 4 reps at most before some kind of slowdown would lagg the screen. I know that for a fact cause I don’t F$%k up on dc or the arcade… hmmm the graphics have a slight enhancement. I was then pondering to myself…if this game goes on PSN or live…the slowdowns are just going to kill everything. esp if you’re a sent player. Those reflies are going to be very tough to pull off. sigh… oh well hope the development improves in the final version release.

??

Don’t come off at me like I’m some noob. Strider health is shit, period. So STFU! Marvel is far from perfect. Shit would be perfect if 90% of the cast wasn’t ass vs the top 4. Please don’t try and tell me something I already know.Been playing this shit since 2000.

Could be HDTV lag.Try playing on a CRT and have the game on 4:3 mode.

And you still don’t know that Strider/Doom can wreck shit. Strider’s health is low for a reason.

Hey, Magneto’s health isn’t as high as Sentinel’s, lets increase it while we’re at it because that Storm/Sent dhc is a pain.

Did I say strider was shit or his health? I know strider/doom can fuck with the top 4. Again, don’t tell me shit I already know about.

Magneto is top 3 for a reason. He doesn’t need anything, but the same couldn’t be said about Strider.

Hold on there skippy. I was just asking a question. I wasn’t saying anything about the game from my point of view.

EDIT: Thanks for clearing all that up guys. I was getting a bit discouraged reading all this stuff about Mag/Storm/Sent just smashing the planet all the time.

Nah, Strider doesn’t need anything. The better your execution gets the closer your Stider/Doom gets to unbeatable. I remember way back when that strat first came out and everyone played it, everyone thought for sure it was the end all of Marvel until Magneto got cracked. I used to play anti-Strider/Doom trap teams because I couldn’t hope to keep up with the execution of people that practiced the trap an hour or 2 a day. I remember my main was seriously Guile/Jugs/Ken for a while because of the trap. Ken assist eats up Strider with rings and Doom assist, Guile and Ken supers both catch Strider through holes in the trap then DHC to Jugs and mash and that’s the end of Strider. I think that team is the reason I can always mash 8 hits out of headcrush.

Reading that I started to wonder if any other teams will come up to “fuck with the top 4” as you guys are putting it. With a new release of the game and a larger audience able to play it at such a cheap price, do you think that some other teams/characters will get “cracked” and just start wrecking shit?

The fact is, we’re only humans and we’re going to fuck up sooner or later.Strider gets hit with random assist and supers and that shit hurts. One fuck up with strider and u could be done.

For years EVERYONE thought Chun-li was STRAIGHT trash, but some dude found some broken shit with her(infinites that work on just about everyone).I can’t say if she can handle the top 4, but I know Iron man can hang with the top 4 and maybe cyclops(along with strider as stated earlier).Oh Dhalsim has lots of broken shit too.Magnetro made a DVD tut on the guy.Really amazing stuff.

i have harder time playing against my friend’s clockwork team then i do playing there msp team

strider could use a few things speaking from the perspective of a strider veteran player. He could definitely use better assists types. I would add the bomb and gram as his assists. Change the recovery time on the bomb to that of an animal. Hmm, he could definitely use another movement option. Maybe that mid screen teleport he had from mvc1 to give him different angles of attack. I’d probably speed up his normals to.

8 hit head crush is a fuckin ugly mash. I still can’t do it right…

the simple fact remains that if you fuck up once with any character you’ll be eating some life. Probably dead depending on the player and team you’re up against.

its much harder to fight against strider\doom if you don’t know much about it. Matchup knowledge is very vital in this fight.

Seriously as a newish player there are way worse things to worry about then Mag/Storm/Sent.
If I had to start over in Marvel my biggest gripe would be traps. I think that is what you’re going to be hearing the most gripes about when MVC2 goes live. A good Spiral/Sent sword trap can be a bitch to escape from and Spiral happens to have the best teleport in the game on top. Blackheart/Doom traps are pretty much a nightmare for noobish players and a basic one that will beat 99% of the new players is easy to learn. Then of course Strider/Doom but seriously anyone who has a good Strider trap could probably beat a new player anyways.
Then my #2 problem would be AHVB. Incase you don’t know Cable, the #4 character in the game, has this super where he shoots a giant laser that does dickloads of damage. On the ground it’s slow but in the air it’s almost instant. So what you do is tiger knee the move so it comes out an inch off the ground and has almost instant startup and recovery. Then you can usually chain 2 more on after that so basically if Cable has 3 bars one little mistake and you’re dead. Then when a character dies Cable can basically make it so they can’t block the next super. I hated this so much when people first started doing it I refused to play Cable for over a month when everyone else picked this up. I didn’t play Cable for so long I had learned the engine so well I AHVB x3 the first time I chose him (noting MVC2 was my first serious fighting game).
Of course now I feel stupid for being so hateful, really all that stuff is just part of the game and when you embrace it it just makes it more fun, but there will be roughly 10000000 complaints the day this game comes out.

I’ll do my best not to throw bitch fits about traps… on the SRK boards at least. In my head I might be smashing cats.

There are some out there, like Strider, Anakaris, Spiral, Dhalsim (in theory), IronMan, etc for example, but people are too lazy to actually learn how to play characters so they just pick whatever everyone else is winning with.

You do realize that if that one fuck up doesn’t happen the opponent’s entire team is done.

Alucard just doesn’t know how to play Strider. A perfect Strider trap is pretty much unbeatable, luckily only a couple of players have the dedication to actually learn how to play SD.

I don’t know, you have to remember this game has been out almost 10 years now. I think the only thing that would break MVC2 now would be some kind of unbreakable trap. I mean to put in into perspective Ironman has an infinite so easy almost anyone could do it to 100% and he can guardbreak into infinite and still almost noone picks him. I think at this point the only thing that might change is the way certain characters in the Top/Upper tier are viewed. Specifically I think BH and Spiral are slightly underrated and CapCom is overrated.

If the Strider/Doom trap didn’t exist I would agree. Things being the way they are I think if you made him any stronger than removing the wall climb you’d have to take away the Doom trap somehow.

I can’t really agree with this. Lots of people have been playing different characters and finding revolutionary things for a long time now. The God tier just has obvious advantages over everyone else. That’s not to say we know everything about this game but most people serious about MVC2 have sat around countless hours in practice mode and in game trying different things looking for that next level shit. I mean not to say I’m godly at Marvel but I’ve beaten some very good players (read: people who play for money) in my time with Megaman/Servebot/Tronne and that’s because I sat around for countless hours and figured out every angle of those characters. For every character in the roster there’s hundreds of thousands, if not millions of collective hours that top tier players have put into trying to break them.

How so?Vs someone that doesn’t know shit about Strider/Doom, then fuck yeah. But if someone knows what to do vs Strider/Doom, it’s beatable(u don’t have bar forever u know). Not to mention random assist calls hurt, along with random supers (Storm’s ice super). Then it’s team chemistry issues.Strider assist are also ass. With team clock u don’t really have a AAA(drones are good but nothings beats a true AAA),so storm can play run away. What can u do with sent/doom when strider is killed off by random BS?

I’ve been playing Strider for years, so please don’t tell me what I can and cannot do.Yes it’s true a perfect trap is unbeatable, but let me tell u a secret…you’re only human. We can not play perfect 100%. So in truth, what is a perfect trap?Just look at clockwork. Best S/D player in the U.S.A., if someone is close to having a “perfect trap” it would be him, but yet, he still gets beaten by other top players.

Yes. Just play the game for yourself and learn as you go. I could say that Sagat runs sf4 and there’s no reason to play but we all know that’s not true.

aw, i played the MvC2 HD remix demo on ps3 and it sucks that you can only play a local match if you have two controllers, i dont want to pay 50-60 bucks for another dualshock XD

I LOL’d. Yeah the most unbalanced game to be taken competitively serious is perfect. It’s good but its certainly NOT perfect.

Ur right. The game sucks. Don’t get it when it comes out cause you don’t want to buy the game AND another controller do you? Fuck no you don’t! THAT’S BULLSHIT. OMG PS3 GOT SHAFTED.
