Its official MvC2 is back with online play!

How do you know for sure? Did Capcom say? It seems they kept the button config the way it was in SSF2THDR for quick tourney setup, so I don’t see them changing that up, though I wish they would.

“When I got to see the new version of MvC2, the first thing I noticed was: widescreen-1080P with a smoothing filter. The filter was designed specifically for Marvel vs. Capcom 2, so it looks great. (If you?re a purist: its possible to turn off all the new options and play it the way it was originally designed.) In addition to that, they?ve also added online play and a new button configuration. Taking advantage of the modern controllers, the new versions let you have the familiar six buttons plus extra buttons for dashing or tagging. This will help players that have trouble playing on sticks and use regular controllers.”

Look for the paragraph right before Mike z comments.

Thanks. But he’s talking about his first impressions of the “new” MvC2 (i.e. the 360/PSN version), not necessarily a newer version that what we’ve seen in the demo. There still might not actually be 2p & 2K mapped to a single button. It does have a “new button configuration” (a la SSF2THDR) unlike the older MvC2s. There are also two “extra buttons” to assign, although only to a single command. From that he could easily be talking about exactly what we’re seeing in the demo.

I appreciate you posting the info, but the quote still is open for interpretation.

i hope to god cvs2 follows after this.

I see 3s coming before that, maybe I’m wrong but I feel like that one may be harder to pull off.

Tried it out and it’s really cool! Whatever music you have saved on your PS3 plays over the music of the game, so you still hear sound effects such as “HADOUKEN!,” the announcer and everything else, just over whatever song you pick.

You can’t swap the songs out individually for stages in the demo, but you can set up a Playlist of whatever songs you want and play that while you are playing the game. So it’s like listening to a CD you made while playing the game, but you still get your sound effects and everything else!

I still want to be able to individually swap out every song, but this is a nice option too. Make a Playlist of Marvel and Capcom related songs from video games, movies, cartoons, game soundtracks, anime, etc. or heck songs you like and you can have a lot of fun with it.

That’s Dope.

I hope all these scrubs asking for Dash macros know what they are getting themselves into. It’s much easier to learn to press 2 buttons at a time then it is to play around MVC2 vets doing combos with a dash button.

So I know that I’m probably going to score some major -rep for this but I just have to know.

If this game is full of infinites, and from what I understand, Magneto/Storm/Sentinal is the best team and is really unbalanced (once again. This is what I have gathered from reading about MVC2. I’ve never gotten the chance to play it myself) along with tons of balance issues then why does the game get the praise it does? Is all that information highly exaggerated?

Once again. I have never played the game myself. This is all based off of reading this thread and reading about the game in general/watching videos.

You really shouldn’t worry about that at this point, those are mostly high level issues.

Well Storm, Sent., and Magneto are the #1,2,3 god tiers so technically that is the best team, but it’s really not that simple. First off of course there’s Cable at #4, he certainly is the most limited of the God Tier but AHVB can’t be understated since it has the highest potential to swing a match of any move in the game. Then you have to realize that while Storm/Mag/Sent is a god team it lacks severely in AA assist. While top god tier players play around AA assists, knowing you can’t AA at all just makes it that much easier to bring a relentless rushdown.
I’d say if someone told you M/S/S was the #1 team they would be wrong and right. It’s not like the team is so good there is no reason to play any other team though.

I agree with the Rabbit2k7.

This game is full of ridiculous bugs that need to be ironed out. Almost any new player can learn some of those infinites with a little practice. It’s not just a high-level issue. Something about the fact that those bugs have remained in the programming for so long really bothers me. In addition, the fact that some of those combos are considered high level also says that the game has a huge learning curve. I personally won’t touch this game because it’s just…too complicated.

I think it’s cool that we’re seeing more of these classics brought into a more updated environment, but the game is crap (the bugs I should say) IMO.

There’s NOT ONE reason why this game should be brought back in it’s last state.

I think infinites are way overrated in MVC2 by new players. They are flashy and it sucks to get caught in them but outside Ironman and Sent only infinites most really aren’t that practical.

That would be like saying it’s as Japanese as apple pie.

Here’s a saying that’s kind of been changed by person.

“If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. But, if it’s broken as fuck and has giant robots and lasers everywhere, don’t fix it.”

Something like that. People say that what makes Marvel Marvel, is that it is broken as fuck and changing that wouldn’t really make is what Marvel is anymore. I’ve only played the game a couple times myself, so taking info from me about Marvel wouldn’t be the best idea.

That’s not the best team, but Storm/Sentinel/Godly Assist, Magneto/Storm/Godly Assist, Magneto/X/Sent, pretty much run everything aside from Sent/Strider/Doom and a few random variations of the top 5 characters (Magneto/Sent/Storm/Ironman/Cable) + Godly Assist (Cyclops/Commando/Doom/Psylocke/Tron).

The top tier is pretty balanced and is more fun and diverse than any game out there.

Low tier matches are also godlike. Beating god tiers with low tiers is even more godlike.

Knowing how to do one in training mode and applying it in a match are 2 very different things.

I’ll probably play for a couple days before I even thing about picking Storm

Yeah, truly the only way to “fix” Marvel is to make everyone not in the top 2 tiers better and not touch: Mags, Storm, Sent, Cable, Doom, BH, Spiral, Ironman, Warmachine, Cyc, Psylocke, Capcom, and Strider. Actually fuck that remove Striders wall climb move that shit is beyond garbage. Making any of the God/top tier any different and it just wouldn’t be MVC2 and no one would want to play it.

^ and give strider normal heath plz.

No, you have no idea wtf you’re talking about. If anything, he needs his health lowered.
