Its official MvC2 is back with online play!

I can see some people being real cheap and using lag switches.

That’s because way more people are on this site now then a year ago thanks to SF 4.

Come on, give the fighter community a little more faith. We seem to have a higher sense of “honor” than the Gears of War 2 community. Fact is aside from the general taking advantage of lag every now and then I can safely say that no fighter has cheated me online.

What on Earth would make you think that?

Completely untrue. There is a reason that the term “lag tactics” exist and why some characters are better on line than others. Defensive characters get the shaft because lag rewards offense since it’s harder to block.

Well, well, well, looks like Capcom finally decided to answer everyone’s prayers to release MvC2 on PSN and X360 (as if we didn’t see it comin’).

Guess everyone has pretty much chimed in on the good, bad, and indifferent on this release, but I definitely see it as a great, positive thing. This being my first post, on the site, hopefully y’all will take it a lil’ easy on me, but I probably have already played a few of ya in SF4 on PSN.

But anyway, as for this being a great thing, that’s a given. I definitely see more things to come from them doing things like this. With SSF2THD, and SPF2THD, and the high sales thereof, I kinda guessed the most requested title would hit the systems sooner or later. I personally would have preferred MvC1, but I can’t deny the sheer mass of requests of MvC2. Why would I have preferred MvC1? Well, I have feverishly debated at how more balanced it is than MvC2. But I can get into that debate a lil’ later – as a hint, I’ll expand on what someone said a few pages back about “keep away” vs “in your face.” But anyway, bring 'em on. Hopefully we’ll even get Vampire Savior (which is my personal fav fighter of all time), or the Alphas, or Threes. But for now, I will hold my own with my main team on MvC2: Amingo, Tron Bonne, and Jin. I deviate time-to-time to Jill, or Megaman…hell mostly only Capcom characters, but gotta love the Jin-man.

VIrtuaFighterFour:

> It’s going to be at least 350MB if not close to 1GB…

How so, when the original DC version of the game only took up 120MB?

re: online

E_C’s post is 100% correct. I think anyone who think that people are going to flock to Mags and Storm online are crazy. They ARE, however, going to flock to Cable en mass (with maybe Sent-Y for backup), and 99% of the games will be nothing but jumpback Viper Beams + Projectile Assist. They will do this because for the majority of players who will be playing this, this will be a winning tactic. Cable is, has been, and always will be a MASSIVE obstacle that people playing the game will have to deal with, and I predict he will drive away those who don’t want to play him/deal with his crap. The fact that Mags/Sent/Storm are better is completely irrelevant, because the majority of matches will not have players getting beaten down by ROM/Hail Storm DHCs/Fly-UnFly, since less than 1% of the people playing will even be able to do that stuff. Rather, the majority of people will be losing to jumpback Viper Beams + Projectile Assist, because any idiot can do that. And they will. Trust me.

Anyway, I’m almost 100% sure, if a new Marvel fighter (possibly MvC3, though I would prefer MSH2) isn’t in development, then MvC2’s success will be a gauge for a new Marvel fighter.

Well PSN is always updated on Thursday around 9-9:30 PM on the East coast of the US. It doesn’t really deviate from that with the exception of holiday updates.

What the fork do Magnetro and MikeZ have to say about this?!

Here’s hoping for the emergence of yet undiscovered techniques, teams and such.

he’s been making dumb posts in this whole thread (and other threads). not as bad as rockman, but you should probably ignore him so you don’t get trolled.

marvel vs capcom 2 will still be on dreamcast at evo?

how come xbox 360 user’s don’t get a demo like the psn user’s? :bluu:

There will be lag, just how much is gonna be tolerable is the case. I dont expect this game to be lag free on run anything like offline so better to get people used to the idea that there will be lag. If its the best lag free game ever …then great if not then we will just have to deal.

Personally I think this game will come down to one big guessing game when it comes to rush down magneto and storm. Trapping should be pretty sweet too, there should be more Spiral users to since lag will make it difficult to get out even if they arent doing the trap 100% correctly.

I will buy it and I cant wait to play it with my friends online since I moved away.

Because 360 Users Got Hd Remix And The RE5 Demo First.

Same reason Bethesda and Rockstar released exclusive DLC on the 360, $$$$$$$. Sony coughed up enough $$$$ to persuade Capcom to only release an early demo on PSN.

Plus I really don’t want to hear anyone bitch since the 360 got the beta for HDR.

DEMO TOMORROW!!!

I think I am gonna call in sick with swine flu so I can play all day

Well, they said the original textures were way bigger than what the DC could handle. So this version has more hires textures. And large textures is one of the big space users (the other being high quality sound/music? not sure).

Yin:

Hmm. Good point. That said, I doubt it’ll reach the level of 350MB (and certainly nowhere near “close to 1GB”), but we’ll see.

But I thought they were talking about display resolution? Since the Dreamcast was only limited to composite video, even if the textures were really high quality on the disk, the output to the TV was only gonna be at most 480i to match the TVs at the time (as opposed to today’s 720-1080p HD screens).

Maybe I’m wrong though.

Stop complaining, 360 got the superior netcode, the players, the popularity, the SF4 good stuff like input display online, downloading replays, and what did PS3" get?
“Funny.” “Awesome” Plus 360 is getting demo after PSN does.

The demo is pulling out your dreamcast and playing on that.
