i wouldn’t be surprised if the value of the Dreamcast, PS2, and Xbox copies of the game have already dropped dramatically.
I still got my original Dreamcast copy…wouldn’t sell it for the world. Even tho i dont play Marvel from that disc…thats what Illegal bootleg copies are for.
but you’re an 09 member…you probably dont even know what the fuck im talking about…LOL
Well, if that’s the case, then you’re wrong. Cyclops is ranked fifth, hence why you see him with more frequency than Iron Man(or most of the cast, for that matter).
I have no idea from which year are your crazy tiers. Nowadays, IM is more common than Cable at tournaments, and so are Psylocke and Capcom. You know who’s not that common? Cyclops. The other guys saying that were your first clue.
Every top player will tell you that IM is not only a more commonly used top character, but also that Cyclops is mainly chosen as an assist, like a less popular Psylocke or Capcom. Every person who’s been following MvC2 for a couple years will tell you that IM is at least #5, and that Cyclops is nowhere near IM on any competitive criteria. Heck, if it wasn’t for Wong using Cyclops as and assist, he would see less finals than Doom lately. Maybe you saw Wong’s comeback vs Yipes and got impressed. That was impressive because Cyc is nowhere near IM’s league.
You should all listen to KillerKai BTW
Of course. They’re sticks, and japanese players like Mitsu came to Evo several times using them
I think the problem with cyclops is the fact everyone doesn’t want to learn/master his infinites, and everyone would rather go with the easier infinite(IM).I personally think cyclops has the potential to be top 5,but again, people would rather master god tiers and easy mode infinites. Then again, if it could be done, you think by now someone would have,so maybe IM is top 5…
Yeah I read the wiki yesterday but I still was confused! Guess I just need to play the game to see how it all fleshed out! I have a few people on my FL who will be starting out as well as some experienced guys so I should be able to have some fun at least!
I dont really care what the tiers are, but im just not in to that infinite combo glitch bullshit, but everything else is gravy. plus i use low tier characters anyway, and always have.
Good to hear.I’m pretty sure when MvC2 comes out this summer some people will make lobbies just for low tier only. This way everyone wins.I personally like wolvie based teams myself.
That’s not even the point. The point isn’t “there’s a God Tier”; the point is “the God Tier has been the same for quite some time.”
In all likelihood, if you limit the existing top tier like with dhalsimowns point system suggestion, MvC2 would be dominated a new top tier of characters, But the point is that it would be different. Limiting who you can pick would open up more teams and make other characters viable when they weren’t so much before.
i agree, why the fuck has this thread turned into theory fighter? this thread is supposed to be about info on the new release, but now it is cluttered with shit you can find in the mvc2 board…good job guys!
I don’t think those top players really avoided learning anything. What I see as a big advantage to IM is that he can bring the opponent for high damage from just about anywhere, and his infinte really hurts. Cyclop’s infinite needs a lot of conditions to hurt someone. But Cyc is really good. IM is just even better for most people.
AND THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT FOR NOVICES - INFINITES IN MVC2 DO NOT KILL FOR THE MOST PART. WHAT WE CALL INFINITES ARE JUST LONG COMBOS, SINCE EVENTUALLY THE ENGINE MAKES YOU POP OUT OF THEM. What experienced players do is usually try to mind trick you to get a new hit in the middle of some infinites (resets).
ALSO, BASIC MVC2 IS PRETTY EASY TO LEARN - All that advanced stuff is tough, but the basic moves, combos and assist calling are easy to get into and a lot of fun. I really never meant somebody who didn’t enjoy playing the game against friends of any level. So at worst, even if some SRKers are too tough and you get a little discouraged from tournament play, you’ll have fun for sure against people n your friends list. Try the game and I can almost guarantee you’ll love it. This is a game that had 128 people at local Californa bi-weeklies when it was new, and fighters weren’t even a big deal back then. Everybody played it because it’s simply that much fun.
True, but a good low tier can beat MSP too.
Niiiiice. That reminds us of the awesomeness that is coming !!! I’ll be watching it!
I also support people doing any unorthodox rules they want in their online rooms, as long as there’s some way to know about it beforehand. IMO we should be able to name our rooms like MK vs DCU. So if some people want to play low tier only, they are entitled to whatever kind of fun they think it’s better
I just noticed that if you compare this thread to the Street Fighter 4 announcement, the MvC2 thread got bigger faster - http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=141060 . Bigger in 2 hours, and bigger in one and a half days, for instance. Not too shabby for a re-release.
Randomness aside, does anybody know at what time exactly demos start to be available on PSN? I want to Wolverine the hell out of my TV before work!
Online? good luck wth that bullshit. Everyone needs a dream. It’s hard enough to escape the holes of a good strider doom. Adding lag in the mix pretty much makes it GGPO. Lag rewards offense, but strider doom is pretty “safe” to begin with. and has auto offense.
