Yes.
Hey I’m fine with the game as is, but it was just a suggestion for those worried about balance issues
Yes, but it was figured out beyond the release window of SFIV. It’s like a clown showing up at a kids’ birthday party in the early evening after all the presents are open and the cake and ice cream has been eaten. Yeah you’re there, but at that point no one cares. SFIV lived out it’s hype machine. No one “broke the big secret” at a time when it would have really mattered. Furthermore people have been speculating on this shit for YEARS. I’m sure you’ve heard the old saying, “A broken clock is right twice a day”.
I’m sorry but this is just not true at all. A lot of people complaining about tiers are people that don’t want to play the top characters nor put in all the huge effort it takes in beating top teams with non-top characters.
Back in the arcades, many many people bitched about the balance and even stopped playing. Hell, even I got kinda tired of seeing such a massive part of the roster go unused. You can even look at all the non-hardcore sites like Kotaku, Joystiq, IGN, etc. It’s mentioned every two or three posts. And they will be the majority playing (at least for a while). Those people didn’t go “omg look at the Spiral lockdown! Taken!” They were the ones playing Guile with the Ken AAA getting mad that they couldn’t get Storm down from the top of the screen.
I know the majority of the still-playing community wants the game the same and thinks it’s fine as-is, but let’s be realistic here.
doesn’t team chemistry play a factor? If your low tier character has an angle issue or a matchup problem, combining said low tier with proper assists is vital. you obviously can’t take a random team, then put it up against a team with good team chemistry. Just like how you can’t play random in any other fighting game because it’ll get you killed.
Thank youuuu That’s all I’m saying. The game is what it is and it isn’t going to change, but saying “lol jus get betta dude” is like saying, “Guess you shouldn’t have called out your assist when Cable had meter.” Yeah true, but you’re still stuck between a rock and a hard place. Even when you win it’s annoying to go through an army of the same shit. Hell I just won another SFIV online “tournament” in Challenge mode. My opponents? Sagat, Sagat, Sagat, Sagat. No fucking joke. It’s not just that the good characters are really good, it’s just that when you consistently run up against them the annoyance is magnified.
Some characters just aren’t built to play against some shit… I feel really sorry for the guy that loved Buster Bros.
I’d have the same complaint if I get the game and the first 5 people I play pick Ken, Ryu, and Akuma.
Low tier team synergy is important, but it isn’t going to win you a match alone. Plus there are few other teams with better chemistry than Storm/Sentinel, Cable/Cyclops, Sentinel/Commando, or Magneto/Psylocke. Pretty much your low tier team without Trone is going to have issues. And to be honest with you Tron is a crutch for low tier players. Personally if I’m playing low tier vs low tier with someone, I really think Trone is unfair, but it’s fair game against top tiers.
Has this been discussed yet?
In TVC when you move from widescreen to 4:3 some peoples combos can’t been done the same way.
Will this happen to MvC2 as well…
Ive never been a fan of marvel =/ If its not a rebalancing, don’t think I’d pick this up.
Fighting MCS and SSC combos and watching their mirror matches doesn’t appeal to me.
If you’re really committed, you can try to become good with a low tier team. You need to make less mistakes and learn how to block everything. You’ll also need some nice tricks and gimmicks. But the sole reason I like Marvel is not for it’s competitiveness (I think competitive Marvel blows) but the amount of creativity you can put into the game when making teams. It has a bit of a strategic element. And there is Sentinel is the best God tier character to exist.
I know this is completely subjective, but it’s kind of nice to have a physical copy of the game, even though I’ll probably never play it again once the PSN version is out. If I had an incomplete copy I’d probably sell it fast and hope to get my $$ back, but it’s such a nice little package…:lovin:
I know, but the problem arises when you looked for proper assists/batteries to make a somewhat good team. To avoid having a glaring deficiency (dies to rushdown, can’t stop runaway, etc), the best “roles” ended up being one of the usual suspects. It’s a necessary evil in many cases, and I don’t have much of a problem with it. But I can easily see how people don’t like “being forced” to pick that CapCom/BH AAA assist to guard against runaway because the character they want to use as the pixie just can’t rushdown or trap all that well. And that still doesn’t excuse a good portion of the cast being almost completely worthless, no matter how well thought-out a team is.
Heh, this discussion is making me hype for this completely unbalanced game again.
I’d rep you if I could.
and I’d neg rep you if I could.
And here, boys and girls, is an example of somebody who doesn’t understand the first fucking thing about licensing.
Im sure this has already been posted, but in case it hasn’t Playstation Blog has the same trailer with different music… THE TOUCH!:rock:

2009 definatley the best year ever for fighting games. Now just give us a Capcom vs SNK 2 remix too.
They can’t release a new game from marvel, and adding online play to MVC2 would legally make it a new game. Therefor Cacpom must have the license. This is the exact reason why the Xbox port’s online got cock blocked.
Well Marvel is a game where top tier characters bring out more of the system mechanics. Many low tier characters can’t compete because their design is far to basic to take advantage of advance technique. Low tier teams end up becoming really assist dependent as well.
Also you don’t need top tier characters to counter rushdowns. Very random low tier teams counter MSP all day. Megaman/Trone rapes the shit out of MSP when worked right. Also team Watts pretty much fucks MSP for free. MSP is probably the dumbest team, but the team most highly susceptible to various low tier gimmicks. While Santrhax isn’t as dumb but normally keep low tier gimmicks in check better. Marvel has layers of brokenness which really kind of balance it in a strange way.
woooo hooooo!!! cant wait til thursday:rock:
