Giving low tier characters the mobility of Magneto/Storm would solve a lot of balance issues, or at least make a bunch more characters better. Since they’re going as far as removing game breaking glitches(gambit glitch), a rebalanced mode isn’t too far out of the realm of possibilities.

Man, I’m reading my local forums and wow, people are not too optimistic about this, at least, locally. But hell, I am. I just hope that my connection with my internet doesn’t suck so I can get down in some matches with no problems.

edit: I do hope that some of these changes aren’t gonna be too bad. But from what i’m reading on here, they’re only changing the really bad things and actually listening to the fans.

Yes, yes it is. It was hard enough balancing a simple 15 year old game with 17 characters. How long do you think it’s going to take to balance a 9 year old far more complicated game with 56 characters and 565554 character combinations?

How much and where do some of you think you can buy this magic pixie balancing dust that game companies use?

The majority of people who download this game are going to stop playing it after a week when they realize how hard it is to win with venom, spider-man and megaman on the same team.

I’m more excited about Marvel and Capcom renewing thier dealings than the announcement of this game.

I don’t care too much about online play because there are enough people in my area that play games.

I like marvel, don’t get me wrong. I just see no reason to piss my pants over this announcement OTHER than the fact that it implies the possibility of capcom and marvel working together more in the future.

Like, if capcom came out tomorrow and said they were releasing 3S as a download I would be like "Uh, ok. They’re re-releasing an older but really good game on XBLA and PSN. Cool I guess. "

EDIT: this game is going to attract an insane amount of ragequitters. People drop games in 4 for falling for dumb throw mixups. Imagine the same scrubs getting hit by AHVBs.

It doesn’t address balance issues, at all.

I’m sorry but this is just not true at all. A lot of people complaining about tiers are people that don’t want to play the top characters nor put in all the huge effort it takes in beating top teams with non-top characters.

Back in the arcades, many many people bitched about the balance and even stopped playing. Hell, even I got kinda tired of seeing such a massive part of the roster go unused. You can even look at all the non-hardcore sites like Kotaku, Joystiq, IGN, etc. It’s mentioned every two or three posts. And they will be the majority playing (at least for a while). Those people didn’t go “omg look at the Spiral lockdown! Taken!” They were the ones playing Guile with the Ken AAA getting mad that they couldn’t get Storm down from the top of the screen.

I know the majority of the still-playing community wants the game the same and thinks it’s fine as-is, but let’s be realistic here.

Not to mention the (565554)(5655*54) matchups (NINJA EDIT - 27,662,342,400). Unless it was being worked on for like a year (and that’s a very optimistic figure), the remix mode isn’t going to happen. Best to hope for an MvC3 instead.

SPEAKING OF WHICH: even if you aren’t fond of MvC2 (how can you NOT be?), if you want a chance at an MvC3, BUY MvC2. Suck it up. You (and by you I mean everybody grimacing at the price point) probably spend $15 on shit that isn’t nearly as worthwhile as MvC2.

In TVC when you move from widescreen to 4:3 some peoples combos can’t been done the same way.

Yes, it has.

It’s a constrained widescreen, so there’s no “bonus” screen area playable and thus this shouldn’t have any effect upon combos. The key is that only 4:3 is ever playable even though 16:9 is visible.

Because I personally love the game the way it is and would not change anything. When I or anyone else uses low-tier and wins it makes you feel really, really good inside knowing you took down the beast.
