"It's not X you should worry about - it's me!" - The UMvC3 Zero Combo Thread

Hey guys, scrubby question here. I haven’t played Zero since the end of vanilla because I’m retarded and I dropped him but now I’m trying to pick him back up again. I was just wondering for the Raikousen L followup from an Dive OTG Buster, is there a certain timing you have to do? I remember in vanilla after an Tatsu assist, I could Buster xx Raikousen L just fine but maybe the timing has changed.

Also for the timing of Dive OTG xx Buster, you’re supposed to let go of the Buster as soon as you see the sword connect with their body, correct?

Thanks!

NVM GOT IT.

i been practicing the loop for a week now and my way of doing it is TK but i do it very slowly…b4 i been trying to do it too fast and low to the ground but i could never get the charged buster cancel in the middle of the loop… i started slowing it down and got better results… im about 70 percent on both sides with consistency now.

I would also like to know the answer to this question since I am a new Zero user. I’ve just started practicing it today, but I’m a little confused on the canceling aspect of it. I know I have to cancel into L Raikousen directly from the Lvl 3 Buster, but I’m finding it very difficult to do so since the I’m not canceling into L Raikousen from another button press (for me, it’s weird canceling into a special from another special that’s not a button press). It’s pretty much just me guessing to find out where the timing of the buster is and then trying to guess where the L Raikousen is supposed to go. Either I do the motion too fast and the Raikousen doesn’t even come out since I’m inputting it in the animation of the Buster, or the Raikousen comes out too late and doesn’t hit the opponent.

Also, is it better to cancel into Raikousen or Hienkyaku after a lvl 3 Buster after the first OTG? I see Flocker playing matches and he cancels into Hienkyaku on his first OTG, and then does Raikousen for the following ones. Choosing Raikousen after the first OTG was obviously for the assist extended combo, but why Hienkyaku after the first OTG?

I know practice will make this easier, but I’m just wondering if there are any tricks to accomplishing this combo consistently. Thank you!

Hi! Just started playing Zero yesterday and I love him. Totally my kind of character. However, to do his BnB combos you need to hold L to charge the buster. I play on pad and I have literally no idea how to do it (seeing as I only use my thumb to do L, M, H etc). Any help would be awesome.

perhaps you can assign an extra trigger button to L and charge that with your left index/middle

Ahhhh yeah, thanks dude. I changed assist 2 to L2, and now R1 is another LP. I feels weird as hell but it works.
Now to learn his BnB. XD

So I have two questions about two interesting ways to start the lightning loop with Zero. My first question is how consistent is it to do s ryuenjin before your TK Raikousens. Second question comes from a video I saw if the lightning loop without TK’ing your raikousens it involved Vergil rapid slash assist how consistent is this variant and does anyone know the inputs for both just in case I missed something subtle in the combo.

i honestly think the most consistent way is: 2 L.tk raikousen, 1 H.tk raikousen, buster and repeat…
i dont know the inputs of the vergil assist one but im sure its not worth it just grind training mode until u get those TK’s

Is it just me or is the timing of Buster cancels in…well, any of his combos, highly awkward?
Having trouble timing the actual buster and the subsequent follow-up, and my execution isn’t that horribad, or so I thought. >:(
You guys are amazing at fine motor skills, lol.

Ah man, actually, immediately, the day after I posted that comment up there about Zero’s BnB help, I was able to pull off his combo for some reason. I just think it’s really awkward timing the follow ups to Buster since it’s not a physical button press, but if you understand links and cancels, I think you can do it.

One really, really important thing that I needed to do was clean up my inputs. Having clean DP motions and clean QCF motions really helped out a lot when pulling off the Zero OTG relaunch. Also, visual and audio cues like the sound/graphic of the Buster hitting really helped me time the follow up Raikousen to the point where I’m able to do it now consistently regardless of both. I really think that all it takes is practice.

This version still does ridiculous amounts of damage right? I might practice this version instead if so.

Just some of my practical combos that I feel safe doing without fear of dropping.

Ok guys help me please. My Zero is realy outdated and out of sync with the new technology thats out there.

Anyways Im trying to do the Zero/Vergil Double launcher into Rekkoha/Lihtning loop combo. But I can never get the 1st air launcher after I call vergil to connect and knock him back down into vergils rapid slash. Any advice, tips?

After Lightning Call vergil and do launcher right after it, it has to be kinda fast. Then just super jump and j.S as soon as you can as well. Should work.

Did my first lightning loop yesterday :). I miss D loop sometimes though :(.

Been playing Zero for nearly a week. It’s all coming along nicely.

I feel like such a such a scrub using his teleport/command dashes to mix opponents up FOR FREE! All I can say is, learn to fucking block PSN!

That’s what I’ve been doing, getting Vergil to come out is a big enough issue but when I actually do get him to come out and I successfully launch my opponent, Im sitting there mashing Up and :S: to bring my opponent back down and hardly ever connects

Oops my bad, I knew I could’t be bad this after just a short break from Marvel to not be able to do somethin so simple as a Double Launcher. It turns out Capcom’s new Autojump feature was turned on and it was delaying my :s:

Sorry, but thank you for the help Diveman!

Been using Zero for three days now… I can get the Raikousen OTG maybe 75% of the time now…

Anyways I’m trying to do the same Zero/Vergil double S combo, and I’m wondering how to get the follow up Rekkoha to connect. I’m trying to do it as fast as possible, but it never seems to work. I’ve also tried to delay the final S, but it seems like the opponent drops out way too quickly, so I have to input the S in as fast as possible no matter what.

Virtually the same damage
