It was fun and all, but lets get real for a second

But yeh, Liquid I have watched your videos and your execution is top notch! If you were more aware of the numbers you could really go to town on people.

Work on hit confirming f+HK into st.HK on hit, back throw or block on block. This is another reason why I don’t like using cr.LP after the overhead, it conditions you to just throw it out anyway and it isn’t remotely safe.

Instead of doing jab jab st.HK xx Empty Duck on block. Try mixing up your timings. Try and condition your opponent to crouch tech by either doing cr.lp cr.lp > throw or cr.lp cr.lp > cr.LK a few times. Then when you feel they’ve been trained to crouch tech, do cr.LP cr.LP then a slightly delayed st.HK xx Empty Ducking and train yourself to be able to hit confirm from the Counter Hit message that flashes on the screen. Again, you have ages to hit confirm it and you will find it is very easy to do in Training Mode if you put the dummy on random block and random counterhit, you’ll be able to do it nearly every time after only a couple hours practise. When you can spot the Counter Hit just roll out CH st.HK xx Empty Ducking > st.HK xx LP Jet Upper > Ultra or CH st.HK xx Empty Ducking > st.HK xx Ducking Uppercut xx Super for HIDEOUS damage.

Try and land the biggest damaging combos rather than using all of those extra jabs and target combos. You’ll get stun quicker and be eating 33% to 50% of their life bar for every time you land a single hit.

Dudley can hit potentially confirm off ANYTHING he lands into a huge combo. Any jab, low short, AA Jet Upper, Counter Hit should be a huge combo.

And as I said, from watching your videos I am absolutely certain you have the execution skills to be able to pull it off.

I’ll test that out

I’m not trying to call you out or put your skills in question, because your tournament record speaks for itself, but Liquid, you are pretty guilty of this. As far as I can remember, every match I’ve seen you get an overhead, you follow up with: c.LP, c.LP, s.LP, EX Machine Gun Blow. This means that by the time you actually throw out another move after EX Machine Gun Blow, it is already at 50% scaling and only gets worse from there. This is perhaps something to work on, because Logan is right, there is a large difference in damage between jabbing [easier links] and some of the more harder ones [ex. f.hk, s.hk…]

I know that’s not something that’s going to make you instantly say that Dudley is not worth dropping, but it can’t hurt to master, as long as you’re playing him.

P.S. I hit a friend of mine with a c.HP, s.HK, EX mgb, duck > upper. I tested it out later, it does almost 400 damage and 620 Stun. Not really pertinent to anything, but it was a daily achievement, and you can pretty much breath on someone with Dudley afterward and stun them. Imagine if this would have been counter-hit lol.

st.HK xx Empty Duck is indeed -3. Free guaranteed DP for Ryu. That’s a shame.

You shouldn’t be throwing out st.HK xx Empty Duck as a block string anyway though. It’s bait for a counter hit into 450+ damage, if it were safe it would be broken as hell.

I genuinely believe that Dudley has the tools to deal with every character in the roster apart from Guile. I’ve not seen anything yet that makes me believe that match is even remotely winnable.

lol I have been trying to hit confirm the occaisions I accidentally land a cr.HP against Rufus when I am crouch teching with it and it hits randomly. I feel robbed when I don’t follow it up with a st.HK into EX MGB.

I want to try some of those links out, but without plinking the pad just isn’t doin it for me, gonna have to wait till i get stick

Can’t you plink using the shoulder buttons? Say if you were to set the shoulder buttons to LK and LP, you could always plink using them?

im assuming you mean the the left shoulder buttons? its possible but i’ve been comfortable with those for my ultras, i could give it a shot. the only thing i really need plinking for is the F.HK -> S.HK and C.HP -> S.HK. BnBs i got down no problem

Well when I was like 12 and played Alpha 2 on the SNES I had L and R shoulder buttons mapped as HP and HK respectively. I don’t see why they couldn’t be mapped as LP and LK so whenever you need to press a Hard or Medium button you can plink it with the Light equivalent with your index finger.

Second.

Same here.

The thing is, Dudley doesn’t have a solid game plan against each character. You really have to read the player you’re fighting and usually, greatly out play them. If you slack off a little it can lose you the match. It gets exhausting.

I’m still not using Dudley to his fullest potential, and have some exciting new things that I wish to try before I make my verdict on the character.

you’ll notice as you get better, every matchup in the game is played like this. (not a troll post) The game is exhausting unless you play top tier.

Wow, seriously… whine more. He’s not even low tier, and even the low tiers can do shit.

I don’t care about tier list. If we all cared about tier list we wouldn’t be using him. So why even bring tier list up? SMH

That was kind of my point.

tier lists are infallible and immutable; the perfect argumentative tool to affirm your…whininess.

edit: infinite sarcasm.

I was just tryin ta give advice -_-

same…

I mained balrog for a long time, until I realized there was a more gentlemanly pugilist out there. So, I decided to go hunting after a new main (with Dudley being my prime prospect). I did the C to Shining C achievement (oh yeah that was fun…no), and I still feel as if Dudley is who I want to transition to. Him, Gen, or Fei. All were very fun and had among my highest win %'s…which even I found suprising. Most of my Shoto win %'s are extrememly low (Ryu and Ken are both around 47%, Dan is 55% haha.) In any case, even if he is low tier, and I don’t cafe much for tiers, then Dudley shall be my main. To the training room, must practice links!

woah is that true? even if its super meaty and you hold up afterwords? no escape? illl have to test.

also ive been doing empty duck. neutral jump (to avoid throw), JHK, St. HK Xxx i guess my opponents just have slow reflexes, I’ll have to test that too
