This is pretty specific, but you do play Ammy so: smaller characters (women/midgets/animals) get pushed out of the corner if you do Cent Rush L + Cold Star as fast as possible. Not sure how useful that’d end up being for what you wanna do, but it gets a lot of random reset situations for me.
Well I was looking for a way to get a ground Super Nova DHC’d early into Blue Light Special which would put the enemy right at the perfect height for a Snapshot afterwards, but the problem is that the only way to get the opponent out of the corner for this setup to work is to do Nova Strike which spends you groundbounce and thus prevents me from any kind of snapshot afterwards.
Re: Tokido, the king of cheap picking Nova/Strange/Vergil.
There’s a groundswell of opinion in Japan that Nemo’s team is the best in the game, so Tokido just took that and added extra cheapness with Vergil. He was absolutely awful with the team.
LOL yeah, seems nemos team is so good because spencer allows the crumple rocket. If rapid slash can do that, he’s got a squad. And thus far I haven’t found a way. Though honestly, I’m not really goin for that anyway.
Dumb question: should an M cent rush reset ground bounce if novas on point when he does it? Or just a property of the assist. pretty sure its a no, but figured id ask here before sticking a fork in the idea.
That should be great news, and ill verify for sure tomorrow, but I’m pretty sure when I do rapid slash extension, when first does ground pound, but then does M rush, after dhc when I lunar phase it doesn’t bounce. Ill be so happy if I’m wrong about this, but don’t think I am. Ill confirm or deny tomorrow.
All forced ground bounce moves reset ground bounce
it works like this
Say the game counts how many times you ground bounce per combo. We all know you can only have 1 right.
So lets say we do your combo
The game reads 0 for now
Until you do that :f::h:
The game reads 1
Then once you do :dp:
The game reads 0 once Nova’s foot touches the opponent. This is the reset
By the time you see the ground bounce, the game reads 1.
Therefore, you can’t have another ground bounce.
Couldn’t wait, had to try it. Lol no bounce guess it wasn’t meant to be. The main sadness about isn’t the dmg, as it already does more than enough, but my nova bnb isn’t building a meter before super, so if I get the first hit right away, I have to reset : / don’t suppose there’s a midscreen combo without extension that builds a bar?
Edit: oh the irony. I actually figured out a new RS extension using L cent rush instead of pound, AND no M rush! And it even builds the meter before super!! …but now the combo does 900 instead of a mil. Waa waaaa. Also requires grav blaster instead of potnf to get the dhc off. So close!! Still, I’m not much of a lab monster, so kinda happy to have gotten that much. Very specific timings:
After basic fly bnb, after fully landed, call RS during the dp motion for cent L, as soon as possible afterwards superjump jS, land L cent rush xx grav blaster. The assist call timing and sj jS timing need to be really precise.
Basic Nova fly combos always build a bar, if it’s a confirm off a Jump H, LMHS, MMH fly LMHS f+H S H xx Super Nova builds a bar. If it’s confirm off a cr.M or something, then you have have enough hitstun timer left to do MMH in the last air series and still build a bar. Same combos work off an air throw.
If you want to reset the bounce, you need to not use Rapid Slash in your combos so Cent Rush is available when it moves into that slot, using M Cent Rush in your combos with Nova on point is irrelevant. I’m pretty sure any extension you can do with Rapid Slash is actually nerfing your damage, since you’d get more with the reset ground bounce after the DHC.
(Footnote: You can actually get MMH on the last air series on the first combo, but you need to have done everything as quickly as possible)
I hadn’t been doing the ground pound portion, was just doing L rush into PotNF after knockdown. But ill see if connecting nova assist during the post-dhc sword sequence(which I’m doing now anyway), in fact, resets and lets lunar phase bounce. That’d be really nice. Lol thanks for all the help and input everyone! I’m REALLY lovin the nova vergil xxx shell, so feels good to make it work well.
Edit: well, off a jH it does work! I get 920k off the combo. So some chars will be able to hard tag out, but oh well. Main thing, though, is off the cM as you say, if I understood you right that you recommended sjMMH fly MMHS (instead of LMHS), that doesn’t quite build a meter.
And off a throw, L rush, sMHS sj MMH fly MHS they drop before the jS! If I only do sjMH fly, the S hits but then the combo barely misses the bar lol any idea what I’m missing? Strange that the one normal that’d give the meter is making the jS whiff. There’s got to be a proper sequence.
Off a cr.M you can do cr.MHS, j.MMH fly, LMHS, f+H, S, MMH xx Nova Force. The shorter start to the combo means you have enough hitstun timer to get a full series off the last launch instead of just Jump H.
These combos don’t work on ground throw, but they do work on air throw. For a ground throw you can try and get Hawk assist to hit after the Cent L for extra meter?
You’re still having trouble with that? How do you hold the controller when you do it? I play pad and if I just hold my thumb over :h: and :s: it works just fine. I especially find it handy for block strings. cr:m::h:, fly, unfly+:h: or unfly+:l:.
I haven’t done much with applying it to combos really because of my little free time, but I might look into this eventually. I’m still trying to work out the kinks with playing actual footsies on the ground with Nova right now. Coming from a guy who’s mained Thor since vanilla, Nova’s health is really something that’s causing me to approach fights with a different mindset.
Can someone jump up and airthrow you if they block a 2 and you try to overhead them with FC :h: ? I haven’t messed with it in blockstrings but it’s now part of my BnB whenever I land a grounded hit.
Alright Nova/Ammy players, I know some of us play teams that don’t do enough damage, but I finally found a way with my team to kill anyone up to Spencer off of any grounded hit. The confirm feels foreign at first but it’s worth learning.
IO j.L s.MH, call Cold Star and do Grav Pulse L, wait, Nova Strike H for the crumple. After this I tag into Doom, do two reps, finish with the Cent Rush assist combo extender into a DHC. This does 1.050 usually, around 850 before the DHC.
The nice thing is that this works with any confirm that has the opponent on the ground, so c.M s.H is an acceptable starter too, and instead of calling Ammy at some weird time, s.H xx Grav Pulse L makes everything consistent. This works with other assists too but I think Cold Star allows for the easiest confirms.
Anyway I don’t see enough people doing that, maybe cause their 3rd character isn’t necessarily a heavy hitter off a hard tag, but I thought I’d share.
