Haha, online, Combofiend’s Nova is worse than mine (and apparently his Spencer too)! I wonder if that first guy almost shat himself when he realized who he must be fighting. Would have liked to see Combo play some more online matches with his main team though after adjusting to the lag.

Edit: Crap, I meant to put this in the Nova video thread, not sure how I fucked that up. Oh well, maybe since it’s Combo, it can fit into the “combo” thread.

Yeah i watched this last night and was disappointed at the random-ing. Perhaps some people find that entertaining, but I’d MUCH rather see real teams, espcially his main. I wonder who 'fiend recommended for Mike Ross.

Why do people insist on doing Nova’s difficult fly/unfly combos. If you do :m::h::s air :m::h: fly :l::m::h::s: fd:h::m::h::s: air :m::h: :m:pulse then his dp hyper is extremely easy and does 688k mashed nd over 700k if you start with j:h:. The inputs should be right but I might not have remembered them correctly.

Because they’re not difficult once you adjust to the timing, and they do more damage. It’s an easy 705k unmashed doing the simplest variation of the fly/unfly, adding in some Human Rocket Punches in the corner, you break 800k, and all of it’s done solo.

Omg all this time I thought his triple fly/unfly combos only did 700k. I saw that 801k combo and when I was making my own I thought it was only 701k so I made that my goal. Ok these 800k’s are a must learn.

I usually play against another Nova user here in Portugal and I beat him most of the time because while I do a simple LMHS j.MMH xx fly LMHS, 6H, S, j.H xx Super Nova combo consistently, he tries to do the fly/unfly loop and drops it 90% of the time. I can do the fly/unfly loop just fine but outside the corner the spacing on that is weird so I usually go for the simpler combo if I’m doing it off of a hitconfirm and do fly/unfly if I’m whiff-punishing something with a st.M/H since there’s a lot less HSD there, making it that simpler.

However this makes me ask, does anyone have any video or annotation for combos including Nova Strikes (Human Rocket Punch)? I’ve seen some sick loops but those include specific assists and I wanted something of a BnB for it, even if it was corner-only.

Not sure if y’all were aware of this, but there’s a pretty big window after you land from the Fly/Unfly loop, and even the :l: Nova Rocket loop, to get an jump loop string in. This opens up a really big opportunity to extend combos through various assists. Here’s an example:
j.:h: st.:m: st.:h: :s: SJ j.:h: xx Flight j.:h: xx Unflight j.:h: land :a1: (Dormammu Dark Hole) rejump j.:m: j.:h: land :m: Centurion Rush :h: Centurion Rush SJ j.:h: xx :m: Gravimetric Pulse xx Super Nova

I know this isn’t the optimal combo as of now, but I’ll be experimenting some more tomorrow on what combos we can get with this string. I’m envisioning something with Sentinel Drones along the lines of land, :a1: (Sentinel Force) rejump j.:m: j.:h: xx :l: Nova Rocket j.:h: land :m: Centurion Rush

or

…rejump j.:m: j.:h: xx :l: Nova Rocket j.:h: rejump j.:h: j.:s: Nova Slam OTG -> stupid stuff with Spencer

Of course, this may only work in the corner… And I may have just made Kajoq’s team even more retarded if we can get the above combo to work.

Hey guys been lurking for quite some time. I have been using Nova since day one and just now starting to really flesh out his potential. I mainly use Nova as an anchor because I love doing the Centurion Rush M infinite to style of my friends. Anyways, I have started using Nova where I think he should be, on point. The team consists of Nova : Cen Rush / Doom : Hidden Missles/ Wesker : Samurai Edge. I was trying tonight to incorporate Centurion Rush M and H into my combo strings to see how much more damage I could get. This combo ended up netting me 922,800 damage using only two bars and gaining one bar in the process. Also like most of his combos it works from anywhere on the screen. Plus it looks pretty awesome when you pull it off. I am almost positive you could get a little more damage out of it but I am not really sure where I could land another hit?

Air Dash Forward. j.:h:, cr:m:, :h:, :s:, fly/unfly combo[ sj. :h:, :qcb:+:s:, j.:h:, :qcb:+:s:, .j:h:], :h:, :s:, j:h:, j:s:, :a2: (Wesker:OTG), :dp:+:m:, :qcb:+:l: xx :dp:+:atk::atk: (Super Nova),xx DHC, :dp:+:atk::atk:(Sphere Flame).

u can do fly/unfly H, S, jH, fly, jH, jS on this point i think u have 3k more dmg or 4k ^^

Wow, Nova has some great air to ground conversions.

Meeting a someone air to air, Nova can go like

(Corner Only) Jump :h:, land, :s:, jump :h:, :l: Nova Strike, air dash down, jump :h:, land, :s:, jump :h:, :m: Gravimetric Pulse, Super Nova
And of course the midscreen variation of that is like

Jump :h:, land, :s:, jump :h:, :m:, Nova Strike, jump :s:, Nova Slam, :s:, jump :h:, Super Nova

He’s also got himself a nice lil’ jump loop for those air to air conversions.

Jump [:m:, :m:, :h: land] x3, air :l: Nova Strike xx Gravimetric Blaster/Super Nova

And I’m sure we all know that :m: Centurion Rush causes a ground bounce on airborne opponents, so that’s pretty easy to follow up with the standing :m: into the combo of your choice.

With that all said and done, I’d say rushing up on people after a snap back with these moves’ll do pretty good against people who like pressing buttons. Each of those combos do between 560k and 600 somethin’ k, so it’s all good. Of course, the best thing to do with Nova when meeting people air to air is that air grab. His range is so sick, I love it.

Does Nova’s j.M have good enough priority to justify trying to go for an air loop? I mean I’m not gonna try out if the move gets beat out every single time…

I dunno. To me, it definitely looks quick enough to beat out most of the moves people like to mash on as their new character is coming in. I’ll get back to you with the frame data and hopefully results from a match tomorrow. I have to admit, all of that was just me messin’ with a jumping training dummy.

I would say it does more than j.:h: due to the fact that j.:m: has a considerably faster startup than j.:h:, and its hitbox is in the general area that your opponent will be when you’re trying to beat them in an air to air… most of the time. ;O

Instead of Human rocket punch you can do H centurion rush then H in the air then super nova then dhc to doom since Super nova causes a hard knockdown when canceled they shoudlnt flip out.

Also when I call in drones for nova and drones hit, then I got for j.:h:, cr:m:, :h:, :s:, fly/unfly combo[ sj. :h:, :qcb:+:s:, j.:h:, :qcb:+:s:, .j:h:], :h:, :s: and try to rep they flip out. No matter what I do after that :s: they flip out before I can brink them back down with Nova’s :s:. HELP ME OUT NOVA FORCE!

Instead of relaunching, why not just s.H > Nova Force?

Also, in order for the Nova Force to grant hard knockdown, you have to DHC before 2/3rds of the way in.
