It’s not that, in fact, with the Aegis one some of the tech options also have a high/low, which i like.
The reason I don’t like Strike/Throw resets (meaning with no other mixup options) is that you can OS out of them really easily. Easier in Ultimate now that you can throw-break during startup and recovery of a move.
Aaah I see what you mean. I think the reset being in such a random spot will not prompt people to tech ( first couple times ). But you’re right. I actually started working on a video on options If the throw is teched. But probably wont release until after the holidays.
I need to work on my High/Low Mixups. His lows are so freaking slow
I’ve got a video in the works on Nova’s Mixup options… But that one might be a bit, I’ve got a list…
I like with your aegis setup, that if they block it (which they probably will, it’s not a surprise that the shield is there). Then your options are:
ADD>Low
ADDF>High
ADDF>High>High
ADD>Throw
ADDF>jC/OS wiff>Low
ADDF>jC/OS wiff>Throw
These are really just tri-jump options, and I’ll cover them all in the vid eventually. But it’s those extra options that make me love your Aegis Setup… Now only if it didn’t use red life… sigh.
Thanks I’d really like to see that video. My Tri Jumpin is ass with Nova as of now. I have to break the habit of tri jumping like its Maggy. Doing it too fast and his jab never comes out.
And on the Red Life subject. A Red Life Aegis might be even deadlier ( assuming you dont have a ton of red life ). You dont have to jump to set it up and while they are blocking the red life Pulse, you can jump up and put up another one since you are allowed to put two at the same time if one used Red life. Call a lock down assist. Then tri dash like crazy. Talk about mind fuck
Oh yeah, it would be stronger, but I really, really, don’t like giving up the red life. The more I play Nova, the more the red-life thing feels like a restrictor (ala swiss cheese) than a tool.
addf makes the mixup much easier to block. addb is where it’s at. he hardly moves back at all, which makes it really hard to tell the difference between it and add, and hits j.A so much faster. it’s much more ambiguous when mixing up between addb j.A and add 2B. it’s pretty hard to fuzzy block that setup because they both hit at pretty much the same time, too.
You ADDF because they can PB the shield. And at that height, you get double overhead options to make up for the speed. Also, Fuzzy guard if your team is set up for it.
Got the standard Fly Unfly combo down, not too bad. 720K for a little extra effort. The standard M,H,S sj M,M,H,S 243L 243AA while stupid easy still yields 624K seems kinda pedestrian now.
I will say that the new combo yields itself really well to resets. I will try to work on the more complicated one in a bit.
I love nova so much. He’s the one character I refuse to drop, I’m just glad he’s good. I just wish I could figure out some tech on my own Gotta learn if there are combos that I can work my assist with.
I was in a similar situation to you. I was trying to learn Desk’s corner H-loop before the BnB and that can definitely mess up with your timing on the j.Hs.
(I’m talking about this BnB: whatever-S-j.H-fly-j.H.J-unfly-j.H-land-s.H-S-j.H-j.S-6H-S-j.H-623AA)
Some of the things that I took note and adjusted to land it consistently…
1 - it’s more important to get close to them after the initial S, than to stick out a j.H as soon as possible to keep the combo low to the ground
2 - try to put the 2nd and 3rd j.H’s as close together as possible to minimize the distance the opponent falls away from you, your distance to the ground is irrelevant since the s.H covers a good area to relaunch. Compared to the Desk combo, the timing between the 2nd and 3rd j.H’s are a lot shorter
3 - take your time on the relaunch combo, you don’t need to keep the combo low to the ground
Desk’s combo does a ton of damage without an assist, but I’ll leave it to the elites
My combo has probably been listed, but I like to do this anywhere on screen, and it’s relatively easy and allows for an assist (in my case Hawkeye poison shot), carries pretty far, but haven’t checked if it will carry across the whole screen, it may though.
j. :h:, st. , st. :h:, :s:, j. :h:, fly, j. :h:, unfly, j. :h:, land, st. :h:, :s:, sjc, j. , j. , j. :h:, j. :s:, assist (if you have one), :dp: + :l:, :dp: :atk: :atk:
If you do it in the corner, it’s incredibly easy, and gives just over a bar while doing 554k meter-less. If you do it midscreen, you have to delay the st. :h: after the fly portion just a tad so they fall closer to the ground, otherwise you won’t reach them in the air when you launch.
Just a new combo for you all, taking advantage of the new discovery of the forced wallbounce, hopefully this will give you guys some ideas:
