Is Yun good with any super arts other than Genei-Jin?

Right now I am not that good with the Genei-Jin. So I was woundering if he is good with any other super arts.

No…close thread.

Seriously. SA2 isn’t bad and there’s actually footage of Japanese tourney players using SA2. It’s got options and he has a decent amount of ways to connet the super. It’s just once you get good with SA3 there’s really no looking back except for the sake of variety.

yun is good all the time
all the the time yun is good

Mester’s good with SA2.

If thats the case then I will just have to stick with SA3 then.

SA3 is godly, no doubt about that…

but SA2 is decent, and it’s fun to play Yun without GJ all day.
Seriously, play him how you want, if you’re good with SA2, stick with it, go against the flow:rock:

It seems that next time I go to the arcade I might want to also try SA2 also.

You can hit confirm it off c.mp… I don’t know if it works on standing guys, though. Pretty easy confirm though, if they’re crouching you can c.mp, link it to another c.mp, and hit confirm it.

Apprantly I am a SA2 user. And while I was playing I think that a Ryu player got bored of watching not that good Yun player and decided to pwn me. >.>

I’ve been using SA2 Yun pretty much lately. He’s very fun to play and if you learn some links you can get some beefy damage done too. And it’s kind of nice to have the threat of EX kickies on wake-up all the time. And having more EX anyway.

c.mp; c.mk; c.lk x2; s.mp,s.lk; c.mp,c.mp,s.lk
can all be confirmed to SA2 on standing

s.mp,s.hp chain; c.mp, s.mp,s.hp
can be used on crouching, though the latter is hard as hell to pull off in a match. It’s still good after a ground to air parry or parrying Remys RRF or something that leaves them crouching.

Now I just need to learn how to do 123 x EX kickies on shotos consistently. Very good damage with qcf+hp or another EX kicks as follow up but it seems completely random to hit the first.

SA2 FTW

Forget SA2

SA3 is just too fun to play with

And SA3 makes you look cool infront of the crowd. =P

Eh, I’m inclined to disagree with the last two. Yun SA3s are everywhere nowadays (well, 'cept my arcade), crowds in my area have a better reaction to Yuns who kick-ass and DON’T use SA3.

No, I don’t know how to use SA3, because I can never land a 123 combo or a launcher to begin with; I’m always getting Shoryu’d on wake-up or after whiffed divekicks.

It’s good to play SA2 from time to time, simply because it helps your game when you don’t have meter. Knowing all of your options when you aren’t flashing blue god is quite helpful. But in a serious match? Why the hell would you even think about it? What’s next, SA3 Chun? What’s the point of playing a character if you aren’t going to utilize their best options?

If you play Yun but can’t/don’t want to learn Genei Jin, then I would strongly recommend just playing Yang instead.

try blocking

i use all supers i believe it helps become a better overall yun to know how to play without genei jin also sa2 does have alot of options while sj cancel you hou is just plain fun

They probably havent seen good SA3 players
anyway
I do think other SAs are nice, but when it comes to major tourney play you just CANT winm without SA3.
Because experienced players know how exactly how to play against yun while he has no genei jin.

if there’s no genei jin at all, man you’re in big trouble

incorrect its just harder to win without genei jin though there is to be said most people don’t know how to fight against the other supers

sa3 is better why give yourself the disadvantage though i have seen mester get to the finals with sa2 yun to prove he didn’t rig brackets of tourneys he has ran

I’m not trying to offend you but that attitude is really confusing since with that logic I could reply “what’s the point in even playing lower tier characters since they have worse options to begin with”.
I do see where you’re coming from but still…
Beside SA2 is nowhere as bad as Chun SA3.

I forgot this in my last post: SA2 can be used effectively for punishing whiffs. That stuff really gets people since they are not used to Yun spanking them for whiffing something over 1/4 screen away. Fun stuff.

And although I would rarely risk it I have to say that EX kicks give Yuns AA game a nice boost since he really lacks that DP kind of move.

EDIT:

True. But most people aren’t used to Yun doing traditional hit-confirming and actually pulling of damage for landing a poke.

Since I’m still having trouble learning SA3 I think that I will just try start to learn Yun.

Then you’d be asking a question that had nothing to do with the original question. My point is, Genei Jin is what makes Yun feared. Yun just doesn’t have the means to compete in high level play without it. SA2 is okay for punishing whiffs, but that’s not what Yun does best. Yang, however, can punish those same whiffs for almost as much damage for the low, low price of an EX.

And I use EX kicks from time to time, even with Genei. Against certain characters u can juggle with a 2 hit roundhouse upkick afterwards, which builds almost as much meter as u spend doing the EX. I don’t do it often, just enough to keep people honest.
