Everybody in Xmen can compete.
I’d post up the 1hitcombo juggs vids too, but Ryad took them down.
So you based ur opinion of mvc2 on just cable alone. Nice. So why should we play street fighter 1 over ST? Its cuz theres a reason we play current or most recent games. Theres a reason why they were made. Why don’t you just try promoting Marvel vs Street Fighter? Or mvc1? SFIII:DI instead of 3rd Strike? seriously think about it.
I remember I got XvSF for my birthday when it came out i was so happy, then i traded it for Metal Gear Solid,Alundra,Tekken 3,& Res.Evil Director’s Cut.I miss it now…MAME here i come.
now this was one solid debait
Indeed. It brightens my heart to witness two people not just expressing their differing opinions in a friendly manner, but also actually taking the time to consider, comprehend, and respect each other’s opinion. Fighting games aside, I’m really glad I read this forum.
Nah not at M.A.T nobody plays it right now
so?? Free money for me that way =D
I’ve not really picked a team yet, but after I make my arcade stick…I’ll have to.
Suggestions for a scrub?
wolverine sabertooth
or team scrub (Cyclops Sabretooth)
Haha, i’m not sure if i should feel good about that. See, that article was written back when CvS2 wasn’t thought to be very balanced - kind of at the height of the Sagat/Blanka low fierce dominance. Nowadays there are at least a dozen extremely competitive characters in that game, so i kinda feel bad about encouraging you to waste time on such a mediocre team. Actually A-Chun isn’t half bad and A-Groove is one of the better options for Yun, but that whole team is strictly middle tier at best.
Anyway i’m flattered that you dig the website. Just so you know, i’m kinda in the middle of working on some random videos and it’s going to be a long while before i have any free time to update anything on Sonic Hurricane. Like 8-10 months, maybe.
Unfortunately there really isn’t very much on there that would be accessible to beginners. There’s that one CvS2 Guile Tactics video and maybe a couple of the strategy/reference articles, but aside from those it’s mostly obscure technical stuff that only hardcore CvS2 players would care about.
It’s pretty tough to make a good strategy guide because there’s such a broad range of skill levels out there. If you’re teaching someone in person, at least you can get a sense of where they’re at and build from there. On the other hand, if you’re trying to cover the entire spectrum, that’s an OBSCENE amount of work. I think it can be done and done well, but it would take one person like a year to do. Especially if it’s made accessible, like with visual aides and video clips and such.
More like 3 and counting.

I know Dhalsim is good, otherwise I wouldn’t use him (I never touch him in MvC2). It’s just the matches I lose that piss me off. Especially Magneto (he can do a Hyper Grav whenever he feels like it and it’ll hit :/)
feelin the love
I remember when XvsSF came out when I was around 13 years old. That junx was MAD fun. Anyway, where I played (a military base in Virginia) everybody was really scrubby so whenever I read of all this infinite craziness I really enjoy it.
Anyway, since I was 8 years old I loved arcades (and the second-hand smoke that came with it). Alot of my childhood can be summed up with: Street Fighter Champion Edition, Street Fighter Hyper Fighting, Mortal Kombat 2, Killer Instinct, Primal Rage (it seems this game gets about zero love here. why is that?), Samurai Showdown 2, and then later XvsSF and MvC 1 came around… super. Anyway, I completely digress…
dog-face, your 2/2/07 forum message beginning with “Wow, this thread is really hot. Even Sabin jumped in the mix?! Wow.” was amazing. I’ve read it three times. Your passion for XvsSF was so completely communicated that I am astounded. This may seem to you an exaggeration, but I was truly moved by your post. “If I rang your doorbell right now, and had my 64, we could play and have fun. That’s XvSF.” Most definitely. Personally, I prefer Super Nintendo Mario Kart (I love battle mode shell/star 3-hit combo death rape), but that’s besides the point. (however, I hate ‘feather-jump into the pool then turtle’ strategy, but that’s another story).
I have alot of love for MvC2 (despite my being keenly aware that my lovely team of BB-Hood, Tron Bonne, and Sentinel needs work). Even though I am in my early 20s, it seems I am kind of an old-schooler. I still hate the concept of UNLIMITED assists. I prefer more one-on-one fighting without whoring your backup-friends. (If MvC2 had LIMITED assists ala MvC1, that came would be so much more compatible with my preferences…)
Basically, I thoroughly enjoyed your post, dog-face. Reading it, I now wish there was an XvsSF cabinet here in Japan. Since there isn’t, I have no choice but to learn Guilty Gear Core and/or Arcana Heart.
Sincerely yours,
NemoDC I remember there being a xsf cabinet on the fighting game floor of More Amusement in Tokyo (in the 2d section, on the 4th floor i think it was if i remember correctly. i wonder if its still there)
but it was strictly a 1p cabinet only (cause as you know, any cabinet that is not linked is destined for 1p play only. there was some jap dood playing on it, but he was a random scrub, so i didnt spend any time playin :P)
XvSF at T8 this year.
What’s the werd on evo North and East?
XvSF seems to be everyone’s valentine.
I’m a scrub at the game but i still like it, it’s really fun to see how beastly the lower tier characters in marvel used to be. for that reason alone marvel players should love this game.
Slightly OT but:
Why is MSH vs SF so overlooked?
And if there was a character who started the word “broken” in this game…it was cyclops. that man was a glitch before a glitch became a glitch. what really made put that game to the “i don’t give a f*** about this game” list was cylcops being able to do a 100% damage optic blast as a counter move.
