Is trash talking a negative thing?

:rofl::lol::rofl::lol::rofl::lol:
That was the most funniest shit in life! That man was wild as shit! He needs to come over to the East Coast to some of our tournaments. He’d fit right in!

i dont trash talk, but i can handle it as long as its all in fun. i show no emotion when i play cause i dont let anything phase me during my matches

Funny matches I’ve been in with trash talk in the background

<— hillarious because everyone wanted me to lose but it was all in good fun

<— same but the guy I was playing’s friend kept it up for like 15 minutes lolol

I love a little trash talking on the side. Doesn’t bother me. Should never be out of hatred or anger though. That kind is bad and I think everyone who is decent is guilty of it at some point.

I will trash talk when playing games. It makes it more fun especially if you know the other people. I use to trash talk in the arcade to so don’t say I wouldn’t do it in person. I don’t see anything wrong with what J. Wong does either I think it’s funny & makes the game more hype. Also I would love some buddy punch J. Wong (or anyone at a tournament ) and get bum rushed. I am going to hit someone that is really professional and shows some class.

Don’t be a idiot. If you trash talk you’ll end up like this guy:

Don’t be like bugs bunny. Just learn to fucking play. Real talk.

LOL at the mention of Dark Prince. Dark most likely didn’t even care for the game and was in it for the money. Dark forgot the importance of a fighting which is to have fun.

Exactly what I thought. I have friends who constantly mention the “EVO 2007 MvC2 moment” where JWong’s Cyclops win the match by himself with a sliver of health left. “Ohh that made me realize I shouldn’t give up”. Yeah it was an amusing video but… Fuck people what kind of parents raised you? Because I learned these “lessons” when I was like 6-year-old. :stuck_out_tongue:

His existence really isn’t relevant to me at all and I don’t see how it affects anyone else who isn’t around him. But oh well, the other guy explained why he thinks JWong is important to the community and that’s ok, I just don’t feel the same way.

Hey I do that… LOL

If someone trash talks me, I do the same right back. If their little roadies behind them try to trash talk for em then it’s not a fault of his. Probably, not that good and can use whatever help is available.

Personally, I find it quite annoying. Imagine trying to play a high level chess match and you got some smelly dude talking smack messin up your Chi power. It’s alright if you offer words of encouragement but anything else is uncivilized.

this is kind of sad. i just watched a video of a guy getting all worked up as if somebody just killed his brother only to see the next video of him slapping an arcade stick like he’s masterbating.

are all high competition players really like this?

How come if the word cheap is used a link to Sirlin is almost guarenteed, but for stuff like this it’s just overlooked?

talking shit is a double edged sword.

If you opponents gets shaken easily, maybe a few words will throw him off his game to the point where he’s just garbage.

On the other hand, talking shit to the wrong person awakes the demon inside them

Jordan used to get taunted all the time, then he would drop 50 pts to shut them up. Tread lightly.

Yes, because seeing that 1 is like that is evidence that all are like that.

It’s pretty negative when you get stabbed. If you want to get death threats you know what players of a certain game to do this to.

trashtalking at your friends is the best thing ever

trashtalking at people you don’t know … dodgy terrain …

You obviously haven’t watched enough high level MMA fights, the best fighters in the world have a great deal of respect for each other, no matter how vicious they are to each other during the match, they’ll hug and touch heads after the fight.

Watch Fedor, Nogueira, Cro Cop, Shogun, Anderson Silva, Pac-man Manny, even red necks like Liddell and Tim Silvia have shown respect for fellow fighters.

The only people that fit what you’re saying are young cocky classless fighters who think running their mouth will get them attention and publicity. The real masters will let their skills do the talking. Just look at Fedor, he’s the best fighter to have ever lived, yet when he speaks of other fighters, he has nothing but respect. After he destroyed Tim Silva and submitted him in 36 seconds after nearly knocking him out, the first thing he did was go and give him a hug.

Now look at Daigo. Arguably the best player in the world, yet he exhibits none of the obnoxious and immature behavior some other players have. For example, in basketball, if you did what Justin Wong did to another player, you’ll get a technical foul.

Just because you’re competing, doesn’t mean you can’t show sportsmanship, just because you’re competing, doesn’t mean you can’t show grace and class.

To drive my point home, here’s an excerpt from Sirlin’s “Sportsmanship”

^this.

I would hate trashtalk by people I don’t know. So online voice chat is deactivated.

I REALLY dislike trash talkers.I don’t give a flying fuck if you’re a god in a FG, it’s no reason to talk down on me or anyone else.

Edit:
I would like to see a vid of someone getting knocked the fuck out for talking shit, really.

Its one thing to hype up a match.

But saying shit like “who is this guy” or being literally in the guys ear is going a little far (if they arnt friends).

Trash talk is fine when you know who you are talking trash to. When I was at Final Round, some people I know were talking shit to me. Well I knew them, we played each other in arcades, so that was all cool. But then there were some people I didn’t know who decided to hop on the train and start talking shit to me. Of course I turned around and was like “who the fuck are you, I didn’t get your name”. He shut up after that.

The problem with trash talking I have is that trash talking sometimes goes beyond the game. Okay, if I suck at Street Fighter that’s one thing. But saying “your mama’s a fat broke bitch” is another. That has nothing to do with my gameplay, and IMO that’s where the shit talking should end. Some people really want to just talk shit, but they are sorry as fuck. So they feel they must say something to fit in with the crowd.

To all your pre-09ers who have never been to a tournament (and I know it’s a whole fucking lot of you), you may think talking shit is cool. But seriously, know who you are talking shit to. Do not, and I repeat do not talk shit to a person just because you see others talking shit to him. Because if he takes out of the tournament and beat the shit out you, no one is going to have your back.
