Is trash talking a negative thing?

That’s rather ignorant. Words do have an impact, granted not when it comes from some twat during a match of Street Fighter, but to say that taking words to heart is a sign of mental issues is fucking stupid. Cuz you know, we use them to communicate. Like now.

Trash talk is a very important part of the game. Come a live tournament and find out why, or sit at home and wish players were more ‘sportsman like’.

Plus, its funny as hell, and most of the time its not said with any real-life ill intent.

Yeah, but over a game…Think about that.

cry me a river.mp3

Thats some funny shit right there grade a smack talking.

THIS NIGGA
Listen though, I’m not all that competitive nor do I really believe in shit-talking or insults,
but if some stupid fucking faggot bitch, broke stank-ass nigga gets punched for speaking out of turn, I LOVE THAT SHIT
No seriously, fuck a Brazzers pass yo
I’m pitchin some 3 inches of stainless flesh steel and I call up my moms and I’m like
"Yo it happened again!"
I used to bodybuild and play hockey with Wayne Gretzky and train in various martial arts in monasteries in the mountains (note the rippling E-muscles)
But I’m not competitive or anything, so I won’t argue with you if you have a differing opinion for any more than like, 2 hours or 11 pages of a thread, whichever is longer.

amen

Of all the rivalries and shit talking ive seen at tournies once the game playing is over you’ll find all the players either eating, drinking or playing casuals together

Anybody who talks all this tough guy bullshit about hitting somebody for talking shit is a PUSSY. anybody can take a swing, a real nigga can brush the hate of your shoulder

And if you box, weight lift alot like i do, or take martial arts i’m expecting a lot more from that person in terms of NOT getting physical. big deal if you can knock out some skinny shit talker at a tourney. Self restraint is godlike

Ever been to the Rucker?
a rap battle in Harlem?

shit talk is everywhere. man up

Only pass i’ll give is if someone puts their hands on you or if they steal your joystick. joystick thieves should be pounded out lol. seriously though…i hate those fucks

Real talk somebody get this guy a mic.

Hold Dat really does spit the truth.

Also if we didn’t have trash talk how many people would have “dat curleh mustache”???

Man so many chisseled, boxing, tough guys, able to knock anyone out peeps on here. The US must be a scary place if there’s this many badasses even on a game forum.

I would just like to know what is the difference between people “getting hype” and trash talking safe in the knowledge that people won’t get away with actualy taking a swing at them and the kiddies you hear screeching abuse down the mike all the time when playing GoW or Halo?:wonder:

(serious question)

edit: Come to think of it the op was also doing it over the internet, any thoughts on that?

the difference is that gow and halo are both bad and if you play a good game like quakeworld you won’t be able to track everything that’s going on and scream like an idiot at the same time problem solved

I admit that I’ve had my fill of trash talking people at times but majority of the time now, I just tend to stay quiet and such. Does me no good to do it and sometimes it does make me look like an @$$. I can understand it if its done in moderation or around people you know within a fun atmosphere then sure…its ok.

Things just tend to get out of hand on Live and in arcades that it just makes me either stop playing (on live) or go home (away from the arcade). Either way, its like now when I play against people on Live and they trash talk, I just stay quiet and just prove what I can do to them…err…unless you find me on a bad day where I’m in “B**** mode” and I just end up going on the off end and just find a unlucky victim to trash talk to for the hell of it.

That happens rarely but when it does, it isn’t pretty. All in all, I say trash talk is ok as long as you know your limits and know your surroundings.

wow, i cant believe i didn’t see this until now. first of all here is what happened:

Me vs Stoli (the guy who started this thread) online, Stoli wins, good game. Then I get this message:

I don’t think I know the guy at all, I have never met him and did nothing to provoke any sort of reaction. I have a disconnect rate of 4% and I play alot. I have never rage quit and we finished the match. We had no mics on during the fight and no prior messages.

Out of no where I get that message. Out of all the matches I have played online no one has every started talking shit after they won. So I think maybe somehow dude knows me.

I write back asking him who he is and then I request a player match with him and then I get this response:

OK, now he gets what he wants, a reaction. I get mad because guy is shit talking and wont even go for a second match.

I look him up on SRK and find out that he lives here in my home town and then I figure its all a joke and that he knows me because most people who play SF4/Capcom games do. I send him a message along the lines of, hahahaha you live in orlando, can’t wait to meet you. Then I get this message.

I then send him a message telling him to come down to bar I work at. That is all I said, implications aside I just wanted to see what dude would do. I told him Im working all weekend. If I started a fight at work I would most likely be fired. Go figure.

I run monthly tournament’s at a local venue here in Orlando and host weekly round robin ranbats at my house. Everyone has fun, plays hard and if they are FRIENDS with each other a little trash talking happens.

I proceed to message Professor Stoli saying: “you just got banned from all my tournaments. nice sportsmanship asshole.”

I don’t want someone like that at a tournament I run, sorry but unprovoked shit talking to people you don’t even know is uncalled for, I don’t care what game you are playing.

Then I get this message:

Now I really want to meet this guy. I send him this message:

“wow, still talking shit? come on down, I told you where.”

As far as I am concerned this was uncalled for, I should of let it go but didn’t. I really wanted to physically fight the guy, and probably still would.

And our dialogue ends with his final message:

After that I let it go, I realized that dude was never going to confront me face to face over some XBL bullshit and that I, not at first, but eventually started to over react.

Trash talking is ok with your FRIENDS, but you don’t know me.

So heres the olive branch, I am personally inviting you to my next tourney at will’s pub in orlando. It will be on june 8th and I will wave your door fee as a gesture of miscommunication. We were both out of line and I hope you realize that.

As long as the trash talk pertains to the game, I am all for it, especially from skilled players. Trash talk fuels anger and what you decide to do with that anger gives an indication of what kind of player you are. Are you going to follow the imfamous ragequitters? OR are you going to use all that negative feedback to push your game to the next level? OR are you going to ignore it altogether?

While there is trash talk that is unnecessary, its still just TALK. You can use it to up your game, or let it consume you and reveal the scrub you are.

Wow, face’s post just completely pisses all over stoli. How pathetic. (of stoli)

trash talking is one of the reason why me n one of my friends can never play well at any game together throw each other off big time

haha when it’s with friends we’re all good about it. We just go “SON SON SON SON!” it’s pretty stupid to get mad over a game. When I lose I jump on my friend but it’s just roughhousing.

But why would you tell someone you enjoyed beating their ass? That’s just stupid -___-".

I hate it however, when you know you got owned and they say “GG”. Idk if it’s some kind motivational comment, sometimes I see it as mockery xD

EDIT

  • Wow face, that sounds rough. Stoli sounds like a total douchebag to keep taunting you and still doesn’t have the balls to show up and face you.

Way to go Face. Take the high road. Stoli you better be there on June 8th.

Get hype son. Whatever shit that goes down better be recorded.

@kte: replying GG after a match win or lose is good sportsmanship son.

Haha oh great, now there’s Canadians in this thread.
As if the topic couldn’t get any more worthless.
