 I think you’re thinking about it too hard. Regarding the accounts, online is great, ranks are probably a little too easy to attain, but it’s whatever.
She’s fine. She’s really good, but she’s not auto-win and it’s a shame you feel that punishes won’t stop her from grinding her DPs out. My honest suggestion is just pick a character that can punch her in the dick whenever she DPs and use that as a counterpick because at this rate it sounds like not much else will satisfy you. Character’s good. Does a lot of damage. Has a lot of range. Has good pressure. Has good tools. Just a really good character. Nerfing is so out of the question for her since any seriously reasonable nerfs would be like, one or two frame adjustments on some moves and maybe some negligible (up front) proration changes. Outside of that, she’s just really good.
To add to what I was saying, I don’t think I’ve ever seen any Mitsuru players online with bad win/loss ratios, and a lot of Mitsuru’s I’ve seen that are clearly not as good as their rank would claim. You can tell they are carried by her tools and not the player itself.
I’m actually surprised people are questioning how amazing she is…and there were a number of top players that were saying so. When I was relatively newer to P4U, I was pretty skeptical about her being that great but from continuous watching of high level play, plus fighting Mitsurus (bad and good ones), it’s hard to deny that she could be SF4AE Yun-level in terms of imbalanace. The players that typically overcome her, do so with great (but risky) reads that would have probably gotten them blown up if they guessed wrong.
Well in any case, I’ve started using Teddie now and I’m hearing he has a better matchup against her (though I’m not sure if it’s a good matchup yet).
Yes you can, she can’t OMC if Bufudyne doesn’t hit. You can’t OMC whiffed moves (and it will whiff if you dodge it, which you can do after the super flash even after blocking a DP because it has forever and a day of startup), only on hit or block. The only situation where she can OMC without hitting you is if the DP doesn’t hit Asterius but Bufudyne did. Even if that happens, you’re still back to neutral and she still just traded a chunk of blue health and 100 meter to take 1 persona card from you. You’re still winning here.
It shouldn’t matter how much meter she has, if you dodge Bufudyne it’s always a free punish. I’ve actually practiced doing this for Mitsuru mirror matches, every time I see someone try to DP me, so I know for a fact this works, and it’s always free damage. I just tried this in training with the exact same timing I do on Mitsuru mirror using Slab to see if there was anything character-specific about it, and Slab gets to punish perfectly fine. You can dodge and still be in range for 5B into sweep > oki or combo into whatever you else you want.
Welcome to learning matchups, enjoy your stay. Guess what, even a low level Yukiko, Kanji or Naoto can completely change how I have to play Mitsuru depending on what they’re doing. It’s how this game works, you can’t autopilot the same things against anyone, you need to play the matchup against every character you fight.
Some characters completely invalidate my main way in, so I have to do something else. Sometimes I have to block for 20 seconds before I get a chance to press anything. Sometimes I’ll have to lose 40% of my health before I get a chance to get in, and the moment I make a bad guess while in, I’m back to full screen again.
Akihiko can punish blocked Coups guaranteed every time, so I can’t use that as a way in at all if they know how to play the character. Some characters I can’t go in on at all, I just have to let them come to me (i.e. Yosuke). It’s how this game works, these are just things you have to deal with.
I’ve seen this with every character, it has nothing to do with Mitsuru, it’s how the ranking system works. If anything, I’d say low-tier Mitsurus beat other low-tier players often because Mitsuru’s easiest to use core tools (i.e. long range and frame traps) are extremely good at beating everybody else’s easy to use core tools (because low-tier players have lots of bad habits that just don’t work against her, like pressing too many buttons all the time, never blocking and mashing DP every time on wake up).
That doesn’t really have anything to do with how any matchup against her should actually work between any two players who know what they’re doing at high level. The way you talk about her would make someone think she’s like ST Akuma or AE Yun, when really she’s more like UMVC Magneto. She’s strong, but you’re way overestimating how strong she actually is.
There’s nothing else I can say to you really, if you’re so determined to not want to think about this game at higher level. If you really think it’s all that easy, I’d recommend you to pick her up youself and play people at A/S/SSS level (especially against characters like Aigis, Yosuke and Chie), then come back and tell me if she’s as much of a free ride as you think she is.
Bufudyne will hit Asterius, that’s the problem. If it touches him (which it pretty much always will unless he was already doing the underground uppercut or he was on the other side of Mitsuru which is a rare situation to have), then it will be OMCable. You basically have to gamble on it or just respect that it can happen at any time and settle for the weak punishes and not any fatal counters.
This is also an issue against other supers, like that cross slash Yu super (whatever it’s called). It will hit Asterius, so you can’t safely roll it.
In any case, it would be nice if a non-Mitsuru player would defend the statement that she isn’t that ridiculous. It seems like it’s only Mitsuru players trying to defend their fraudulence.
Won’t happen if he gets hit by the DP when you block it. And again, even if that didn’t happen, you’re back to neutral and she just spent 100 meter to do nothing.
Expecting someone on SRK to learnmatchups? Impossible! No seriously, it’s a part of the game. Mitsurog has some great tools, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say she can get away with murder ala AE Yun; trust me, I mained AE Yun :razzy: Get in the lab, or take your licks, until you learn. So what if “not as good” Mitsuru players are grinding it out stealing your BP?
This game is still young, and it’s a fantastic game. So anyone on the fence about picking it up should really give it a shot, because it’s a hell-of-a-lot of fun
Story mode is so awesome, they really nailed the graphic novel element perfectly, especially with the excellent writing. And the story actually does making Labrys’ voice more endearing
As far as the balance goes, I’m not a “pro” by any means :razzy:, so from a casual perspective, I do have to say Mitsuru is a bit OP. When I messed with all the characters she immediately felt easy mode compared to the rest. Of course that was just my initial impression of her…is she still winning tournies?
Oh, you! A-combos aside, I’d hardly call the system “dial-a-combo”. Combos and pressure require timing, and mistakes can be very costly. If anything, it reminds me of Marvel. Also, P4A is faster than Blazblue, more accessible for new players, and has different mechanics/characters.
For what it’s worth, I just think Blazblue is a much better game in general. It was cool to see another awesome 2D fighter come out, but the simplicity was a huge turn-off for me. It just wasn’t something I could get into.
Ah, OK gotcha. I come from a Street Fighter background, P4A is the first air-dash game I’ve really gotten into. I tried to get into BB:CS1 but just couldn’t get excited while learning it for some odd reason. Might try my hand at it again when Chrono Phantasma drops, if there’s enough new content and the price is right.
I really don’t understand a lot of the hate for P4A from some of the BB community on SRK, though. I mean, I think this game is a great jump-off point for the whole air-dasher genre
Agreed… this is my first ArcSys game ive got into (outside of Guilty Gear back on the PS2 Days) and i love it… in all honesty it in fact is making me strongly consider getting Chrono Phantasma on Day1 to get more of the 2D goodness… Sure it may be a completely different beast then persona in regards of gameplay but getting persona showed me the kind of quality product ArcSys puts out and now i want more
People just expected it to be something, and then when it came out it didn’t even come close to meeting those expectations.
We wanted BB quality gameplay; gameplay that required intricate timing, a good footsies game, you know…the works. What we got was a button masher that was hooked up with a whole bunch of bells and whistles (persona’s, awesome music, flashy effects, ect.) and plays more similar to Mortal Kombat’s simplicity than it does anything to Blazblue. It’s not really a *bad *game per se, it just wasn’t really what I had hoped for. It really just seems like a game that was built more for the casuals than anything.
