3s is dead. I’ll even go as far as saying more ppl play this game than 3s. Btw when I say dead, I mean by the standards I’m assuming you’re using.
You know, the fighting game that has a really niche audience and is not rlly accepted mainstream. You know, kinda like 3s, and Sfxt.
So ya they are both dead. So lets both agree that 3s and Sfxt and VF are horrible games based on its niche-ness
I think I heard that 8 people entered for this game at NWC? It’s going to be hard for the game to see advancement with such little participation from the community.
Sure, I can give you that more people play SFxT than 3s, after all it’s the new and much marketed Capcom game to which people flock to, no surprise there. And IDK where you got my standards, what I meant was that SFxT is a terrible and shitty game that nobody wants to play because of said terribleness and shittiness, not that it has a niche audience, wheras 3s and VF do have a niche audience IN THE WEST but they’re good games, and VF’s nicheness might be changing with the release of FS, that is if Sega can produce some kind of marketing miracle, and I’m being optimistic even there.
Those are subjective terms based on opinions which are based on your personal preferences for a fighter. So again I cant see how u can say one has a niche audience but is bad but the other has one but its good. That makes no sense. Because the very act of you classifying one game as bad and one game as good is opinionated and not objective so it ties into the audience. I love SFxt and I happen to think its a great game, so dont be so quick to speak for everybody dude.
You need to learn to take a more objective stance when it comes to discussing games my dude. You’ll be seen as more of a respectful dude and an all around great guy to speak with.
This game got really bad press for some reason, maybe because the top players used SF characters and so didn’t like it, and everyone can’t form their own opinion and just agree its bad.
Its not as solid as SFIV, but maybe it’ll get patched, but in terms of brokeness its not even comparable to the brokeness of marvel. I think its really fun, and the only reason I don’t play it a lot is the combos are far too long and just frustrate me.
Well my man, being a great guy is also subjective to the thing you consider or don’t consider great. If I speak my own oppinion, which is that SFxT is a crap game, other likeminded people will think I’m a great guy, but you’ll think I’m an asshole, know what I mean? I can be a respectful dude, but only to the limit of my own oppinion, which I consider is more holy than being a respectful dude in your eyes. Of course when I say one thing is good and the other one is bad, even though both have or don’t have a niche audience, it’s just my own oppinion which I belive in and which has been formulated through trying all of these games, not that I’m saying that I’m better than you when it comes to grading a game. But let’s take another situation here; let’s assume that most people think 3s and VF are good games and that same most people think SFxT is a shitty game. Does that make it fact that SFxT is a shitty game? Because I’m willing to say that most people do in fact think that SFxT is a shitty game, whether or not that oppinion is formulated though experience of the game or just word to mouth. Therefore is it a shitty game? Is the oppinion of those people more valuable than your oppinion? OR does it actually come down to the facts, which there are numerous that indicate the flawness of this game?
Not gonna happen K3lloggz,
Alot of people hate this game with a passion, and although they don’t claim to play, feel the need to bash SFXT any chance they get. Logic is not needed.
Well okay then. And it’s great that you’re getting VF, that game needs love and a chance to succeed, it really is a very good game. I hope you have fun with it.
Well, Yaysayer’s complaints consists of a bunch of complaints I keep reading throughtout the sfxt forums from people who favor the game; people say those things keep the game from being fun/balanced. That’s different from the list of problems I was referring to. Some people don’t consider them to be problems though, that’s why it’s an endless loop.
Honestly, I don’t care if people like the game; that’s cool. I’m just trying to shed some light on what it is about the game that makes most people not want to play/buy it. That’s why I’m confused about this mentality people have here that says everyone is hating SFxT to be cool.
I used to have no problems with people hating SFxT for legitimate reasons (At least well thought through evaluations of aspects in the game that didn’t appeal to them, or reflect poor game design). I used to be annoyed about the guys that hate on the game for reasons that reflect misconceptions, wrong information etc. Now, however, the blind haters have read and heard the well formulated and “legitimate” complaints about the game, and are regurgitating these opinions whenever they have the chance. Yet, when they open their mouths and try to discuss the game and use their own opinions and own words, you can clearly see that they have no idea what they are talking about (e.g negative commentators at tournaments). I respect and accept complaints from players who understand and have given SFxT a chance, and made up their own mind, but not the players who have no idea what they are talking about, and are just spewing opinions they have read or heard somewhere. These are the kind of players who are “hating to be cool”. I mean, there are plenty of “legitimate” complaints about other games out there, that people know about, but because they have given the games a chance, and decided that the pros they see in the games, outweigh the “legitimate” complaints, they still want to play them. They wouldn’t be playing if they took the complaints as proof of the games sucking, and leave it at that.
But seriously, you’re seeing a game that had crazy stupid amounts of hype behind it (a fucking reality show to promote it) that is routinely the first game to finish at streamed majors, if they’re playing it at all. Skullgirls / Super Turbo / SC5 / MK are all getting higher priority in terms of what gets streamed. And that’s before the current juggernauts of KoF13 / AE / UMvC3. This game hasn’t even been out for 3 months and it’s scene is dead.
Honestly, if this game wasn’t a Capcom release people wouldn’t even be trying to hold onto it in a tournament sense. But our blind loyalty to characters hinders us a lot of the time, and everyone has a soft spot for Ryu, Heihachi and crew.
I really hope this isn’t the beta for Darkstalkers 4. But I imagine that it probably is.
Why has 3S been an SBO staple in Japan for 8 years pretty much straight if it’s dead? The game is still a religion there and will for another year be one of the main games that will be live streamed.
The only reason the game is really slow in the US pretty much just comes down to a lot of the veteran players just not being happy with 3S OE. They’re really tired of playing anything that isn’t the versus city cab basically.
My point in making that statement was not to discredit 3s, but rather discredit the claims that a game that attracts a very niche audience is dead.
Again ur making pretty large assumptions. Yea sure what drew me to the game was the idea that SF is fighting Tekken, but what kept me in the game, unlike sf4 and Marvel, was what I saw and enjoy in the core of the game.
Idc how niche a game’s audience is…I will NEVER EVER EVER speak of a game Ive hardly played or havent even played extensively or thorughly. I give all games a shot until I even give any opinion on it. Idc about other thoughts and how other feel with PR gems blah blah blah. Hype doesnt run me, Hype dont mean a damn thing to me. Im not a spectator Im a competitor, and if what I play is fun and deep for me I’m playin it.
Capcom stirred up so much bad will with this game that even if the gameplay problems get resolved, SFxT is always going to be crippled by irrationally negative PR. If this game is going to advance, it is going to have to do show in the shadows; Capcom has irrevocably poisoned the waters for most of us. If I was a member of the SFxT community, I would actually consider asking TOs to drop the game for the time being, until the waters settle down a little bit, and the community figures out the game a little more (ie. what do do with gems?).
3rd Strike is one of the most mainstream fighting games period. Maybe it’s not as mainstream as SFIV or SF2…but that’s because nothing is. LOL. The Daigo Parry vid alone got people into fighting games and into 3rd Strike way back in the day.
It was more or less an advertisement for competitive fighting games and is still the most viewed fighting game video on youtube. Maybe not everyone enters tournaments for the game anymore, but tournaments aren’t really an ultimate deciding factor for what people are playing in general. The tournament part of the FGC is still pretty niche and still not something that everyone who plays fighting games regularly does.
The majority of people who play fighting games still don’t go to tournaments regularly.
Was one of the most mainstream fighting games period. Tekken is mainstream, SF4 is mainstream, Marvel 3 is mainstream, Kof is mainstream, 3s is not. (Im speaking from a worldwide perspective btw).
3rd Strike is definitely mainstream because people still watch streams and youtube videos of GameSpot and Mikado tourneys for it religiously. Anytime 3S gets announced on a major stream people still flock to it. It doesn’t get shown quite often but when it does it’s obvious that people want to watch it. It’s a game that everyone still cares about outside of tournament entry stuff.
Yeah KOF gets tournament entrants (not really that much), but that’s not really a deciding factor for what is mainstream. Tournaments just show what is popular in a niche community of players who strive to one up each other and travel to do it.
