Is there STILL not a Dragon Ball thread? If so

Against whom? It’d be ridiculous if Vegeta took down Frieza

Oh Super, not Z. Yeah that was wack

Lmao fr tho

Almost dies to a lowclass warrior and a bunch of Earthlings
gets bodied by Zarbon
gets bodied by Recoome
killed by Frieza after being humiliated
gets bodied by A18
gets bodied by Perfect Cell
sells out to Babidi’s magic for a minor power boost and he was still behind Goku
blows himself up which sends him to otherworld again and it didn’t even affect Buu
serves as a punchbag for Kid Buu while Goku is doing fuckall charging the spirit bomb

and that’s just DBZ

In return of f
whis rewinded time before vegetta could blast frieza with a final flash.

Goku popped in with a kamehameha to finally kill freeza

“Move bitch get out the way”

Recoome really whooped his ass. That shit was painful to watch as a kid. Perhaps the gap with A18 was wider but it looked effortlessly and without much malice. Recoome kept taunting while pushing his shit in

and then Recoome fucking broke Gohan’s neck

god, Z was a brutal ass show

Super really is like a saturday morning cartoon in comparison. Hell, in Japan it pretty much was

IIRC things have changed in Japan between the two shows. Hence the differences in the level of violence. The DBZ manga was even more violent than the anime. Gohan killing the Cell Juniors in the manga made the anime version of the event look like patty cake.

Even the wording of stuff had changed. We have gone from the “ultimate saiyan who thirsts for blood and battle” to “the pure of heart who something something”. As much as I love Frieza coming back, making him a frenemy doesnt quite sit well with me.

But yeah Z was great regarding violence. When Majin Buu showed up, he murdered everyone in a painful way: Gohan, Dabura, Kaioshin, Vegeta

Videl killing Spopovitch and Yamu brutally

Freeza isn’t a frenemy tho, he only helped out in the ToP to regain his life and escape Earth Hell. He’s still quite the unrepentant evil, he’s just learned his place in the universe and has to scheme now. lol

DBS definitely soft on the violence tho, I only saw one instance of blood when Black stabbed Vegeta

IIRC the Blu Rays have a little more blood than the broadcast versions of the episodes. If anyone has a Blu Ray, could you please confirm this?

The Zamasu arc in general had more malice than anything else in DBS. Zamasu facial expressions going from contempt to evil to disdain etc was great (watch when he tries to murder Gowasu). Tenkaichi Budokai allowed you to kill an opponent but the ToP where your universe is on the line didn’t? o.O

The Black/Zamasu arcs+ ended up being one of my favorite arcs in the franchise. It had everything, good fights, a charismatic villain that for once wasn’t one note and had a reason for what he did (which is probably a first for DB) and the heroes even technically lost.

And yea, that was an odd condition cuz if your team lost you were gonna get erased regardless. Also interesting how the super DragonBalls can reverse erasure, i wonder if you could use them to negate Zenos abilities

Wait what?

I don’t think that was a thing, you’d get DQ’d on the spot.

Tbh, so was the rule on the ToP, except getting DQ’d there means you get erased from existence.

Edit: That reminds me, the Exhibition matches pre-ToP did in fact allow killing in Super, until they realized that wasn’t the best idea.

(Imagine Hit just sniping people from across the stage. Not quite the exciting fighting the Zenos had in mind.)

that’s not saying much when it’s basically the only story arc in all of Super

When I say franchise I mean DB as a whole, chief

I just wish they would have stuck the landing. Trunks getting the kill would have been a better ending IMO and even they kept the original ending. Trunks and Mai should have stayed behind. I know people are going to say “what bout the End of Z”. At this point, I just don’t care anymore. Having Trunks and Mai going to a similar but not same future with another Trunks and Mai seems more like a punishment to me.

I actually liked that about the ending, the enemy became so powerful they couldn’t punch, slash or blow it up like they usually did and it served as a preview for why ToP and Zeno were not to be taken lightly.

Future Trunks and Mai being in the present could have worked but I think they still want his inclusion into things to be special. Even having him move to another area or planet he would still be in Goku’s range for anything so later battles with him, particularly their games, would be less of an event.

If they wouldn’t have sent them to the other timeline, the ending would have worked MUCH better for me.

Im still waiting on an explanation about that form he unlocked… why couldnt they give him ssj3?

Because SSJ3 is just unviable. It takes hella energy and drains at such a speed that for prolonged fights you’re better off staying SSJ1 or 2, or going God

alternatively if you want your fill of SSJ3 Trunks - Heroes is your best friend

It’s kinda hilarious. You’d think that after this entire arc alone Trunks would’ve learned the ramifications of time travel, only to create a mess in another timeline altogether. Two Trunks’ and Two Mais!? How the fuck is that gonna work out?

I mean…SSJ3 is pretty fucking stupid lol.
