I dont think it was so much about you know who but about Merus motivations. We have seen this with Zamasu and West Kaio. They like trying to portray them as humans.

Usually they try to show deities as devoid of emotions and super cool but the key ones are purposely shown to be different. Kamisama entering Budokai to stop Piccolo, Kaioshin trying to stop Buu by his methods and getting involved, Zamasu getting super idiosyncratic, Merus being Merus
If they still go by canon then Buu is still a creation by Bibidi, correct? Kinda like how Dr. Gero created Cell and the other “androids”

Vegeta winning would have done so much story wise and character wise and you could have easily used it as another motivation for Goku. Instead they went with the Gohan SS2 transformation rehash and it’s just bleh.
Now that I think about it, this will turn more into DBS Freezer saga after looking like DBZ Namek saga. I think Vegeta will -try to- finish the job.

Vegeta didn’t get his major win on the DBS Frieza arc even though it was perfectly set up for it.
So while I expect him to use his fission move to weaken Moro, that’ll only really save whatever that dude was and Goat Moro will manage to fuck him up anyway.
