Is there a Dragon Ball Z thread? If not

Besides the fact that it’s all dub, nice link. The DB dub was decent and I’ve been dying to see the Picollo stuff. Thanks

I was rewatching some stuff and all I have to say is…

Coffee Drop Vegito > Buu, you, and your mom

Coffee drop Vegito is broken.

He’s basically a Kobun-sized Sentinel on steroids

Hell yeah, Buu was getting owned by a Goddamn piece of candy that possessed Vegito’s consciousness AND strength!

“I’m no ordinary candy, I’m a jawbreaker, the strongest piece of candy there is!”

I was just watching Season 1 the other day
dang I wish Raditz would have stuck around longer he was cool:sad:
that was back when Gohan annoyed me…but then grew on me slowly but surely.

I loved when he started wildin on Vegeta for dissing Goku after the Namek thingy
he dun like when people diss his daddy

Stupid Toriyama…why allowed FOX to make the DB Live Action for 2009?

What makes you think Toriyama decides what gets done with Dragon Ball?

Yeah, Toriyama didn’t even want 75% of DBGT made (and for a good reason, cuz GT SUCKS!)

DAAAAAAAAAAAADY

I’m surprised no one brought this up, as this is significant news

New Dragon Ball anime special coming out!

Mind you, this is really the only significant piece of DB animation in over 10 years. In other words:

GET HYPE!

Yeh I read about that

I wonder what it’s about

It won’t be the same unless they have the same voice actors and characters.

I remember in DBZ future Trunks and Vegeta were awesome, then in GT… shit was weak.

GT also lacked Piccolo.

On a side note, the Piccolo actor that will be in the movie is pure garbage.

The nose and eyes are so fucking deformed.

Way to further kill a show after it ended.

:rock::rock::rock::rock:
U say da troof!

but man GT was wack
I hate how slowly but surely they weeded characters out mang!

GT was wack…but I just finished watching the last episode and it was sooo sad
and touching:shake::sad::sad:

I always felt that from the Frieza battle into the androids and Cell, DB became pretty damn boring. Just fight fight fight, with practically no story, ridiculous muscles and lots of talk about power levels.(You’re that strong?! Wait a minute! runs into another dimension, comes back Now I’M stronger than you!!) Then the Buu story began and the humor came back, there were wacky characters and it even regained some of the emotion that the very first episodes had.
When I talked about this with a Japanese colleague, she looked at me with horror and disgust in her eyes and started to rant about how the Buu story sucked and that was why DB got canceled. I couldn’t believe it! Am I the only one who thinks this?

I was and still am a huge vegeta fan… I have a lot of the uncut english/chinese dubbed episodes on tape

There was a little store in chinatown, Elizabeth street mall, $5 a tape, 3-5 episodes. i still have maaaaaaad tapes in my momma’s basement lol

Gohan versus Bojack…Gohans last true beastly powerup. i know he surpassed that level but that power up and rushdown he put on Bojack and his crew still gives me chills. the music, the voice…it was nuts

plus my favorite vegeta tribute…i love that kick he missed on janemba lol

From an anime perspective, I agree with your Freeza-Cell boring sentiment, as it was really dragged out and over dramatized in some respects. Looking from a manga perpesctive, however, I would be inclined to disagree in some respects. I haven’t read that part of the manga for the most part, but with experience with Naruto and One Piece, I can say with some confidence that these sections were OMFG roller costers with just way too many twists that made it awesome.

I agree with ya on the Buu saga too. I think since Toriyama didn’t have too many places to go in terms of power, he went back to his main strength: humor. And lol at your colleague thinking DB got cancelled. DB ended… out of fucking no where.

DB just started getting really stale in general post-Freeza. The action was still top-notch, but it lost its sense of adventure and humor. The Buu story arc just felt more imitative of the glory days than anything else.

Yeah, I know the anime had a lot of filler, but even the manga feels sluggish to me. It would literally have a good guy punching a bad guy in one panel and the bad guy punching back in the next repeated for ten pages in a row! It does nothing to progress the story. Not even the fight progresses, 'cause nobody’s really winning. Whenever you think someone has got the upper hand, the opponent simply reaches into a top hat and pulls out a new move/fucking huge power level…

Anyway

As for the colleague, she usually knows a lot about these things since she grew up there and was a huge DB fan. She said something along the lines of that (I think) Shonen Jump made him end it and that that’s why it was so sudden.
That ending felt really epic to me when I read it actually. Though I think in any story that huge the ending will feel epic…

Since they said One Piece will also get a new animation feature…maybe they’re gonna do another team-up like they did before, with the Kaizoku and DB crew vs Eneru…if they do, I hope they take on the CP9.

Now I see what you’re saying. That can get pretty boring. On the other hand, with One Piece or Hokuto no Ken, when the opponent comes up with some other trick the hero comes up with some other one! Sure, sometimes they might lose, but there are rarely any “power up” or training sequences. That’s probably why I really like One Piece…

And from what I understand, Toriyama ended DB himself after not being able to keep up with fan demands anymore. He obviously wanted the second part of DB, or “Z” to be Gohan’s story, but everyone wanted Goku. I do think the ending is pretty well done, but it lost its impact due to GT ruining it.

That would be cool, but it would be even better if it were an animation of the freakin awesome Cross Epoch one shot manga.
