Still I donât get why Goten and Trunks were born without tails and didnât go ape. Someone might mention that well they mightâve been cut off, which doesnât make much sense considering Vegeta is too proud of a Saiyan to cut off his sonâs tail and tails keep on growing back anyways until you reach adulthood.
By that logic you could ask why Gohanâs tail didnât grow back when they went to Namek considering they left no sooner than after there fight with Vegeta.
Well Gokuâs constantly grew back when it was chopped off. I donât think Chi chi wouldâve cut off Gotenâs either. She didnât cut off Gohanâs at birth and Iâm not sure if Gohan or Chi Chi were ever aware of the great apes, to decide it would be better to cut off the childâs tail. Goku couldnât have told her to do it either since he didnât even know she was pregnant before he died. He was surprised when he saw Goten.

Yeah, Bulma would have had Trunksâ tail removed regardless of what Vegeta had to say, but even then, as much as thereâs a pride element to it, I donât think Vegeta would have cared THAT much. By the time Trunks was born, I donât think he really had any intention of trying to permanently leave Earth, so Trunks wouldnât be able to transform anyway (with the moon gone and all), and Vegeta had been living without a tail for over a year, so I donât think heâd put up a huge fight over it. And although Chi-Chi may not have been aware of the whole Oozaru thing, Gohan sure as hell was. He probably made his mom cut it off, or let him do so. As for the tails not regrowing, Iâd love to say it had something to do with the lack of bruits waves in the atmosphere after the moon was blown up or some shit like that, but, like most things in the series, Toriyama probably just plain forgot about it.
Iâd imagine Vegeta also didnât want to rely on his tail since heâs supposed to be rivaling Goku. Considering Vegetaâs personality after the Saiyan Saga I could easily see him thinking it as some sort of crutch that he doesnât need.
