There are. In fact, all of the voices have been re-recorded. It would make sense for Funimation to redub as well, but I wouldn’t expect it for another 2 years. I wouldn’t hold my breath, though.

Each one has three volumes in it and some of the pages are in COLOR!!!
Although there is some censorship in DB… No one flips anyone off and some of Roshi’s more lascivious comments are edited from the original release…

speaking of comics…how’s that fan comic with all the universes coming together doing? I don’t have the site on this new comp and I’d like to catch up on it.
are they still censored in the older releases or just for these new editions?
that fan comic is pretty damn good. It funny seeing some of the other saiyans in awe at Goku and Co. powers. Pan actually takes out the primitive Goku with the “paper, rock, scissors” technique.

The answer to that is a difficult one:
Initially, Viz released all the Dragon Ball mangas uncensored, but then realized that there was money to be made by selling Dragon Ball manga at Toys R Us and Wal-Mart, so they quickly put out censored versions. Then, due to fan outcry, they released the uncensored versions again.
Now, puzzingly, the VIZBIG versions have some references that were initially censored that aren’t now and vice versa.
Example: The Puff-Puff scene with Muten Roshi after Goku and co meet Ox King for the first time was censored, but now it’s not. However, Bulma flipping the Bird to Pilaf and Yamcha flipping off Tenshinhan are now replaced with them shaking their fists menacingly.
However, all the Child Goku penis you ever want to see remains uncensored. Funny that the one thing I actually WANT censored is still in.

So is Kai a re-drawing of the series (to hopefully fix the crappy anatomy of the earlier arcs like Napa having ONE row of abs, right down the center of his abdomen), or is it just upscaled to hd?

I read all 119 pages in about two hours. Good stuff. Bookmarked!
cutting anime filler, and upscaling it to hd. along with new voices (for the VAs that died) and new intro and ending sequence. For example, it only took goku 1 full episode to cross snake way.
Hopefully they’ll do something about that 50 episodes that take the span of 5 mins when blowing up namek.

The only thing I didn’t like about the original series is that the animation is inconsistent. Sometimes its good, sometimes it looks all cheap.
That’s because it was done by 3 different studios. The highest quality studio was saved for important episodes, like Gohan going SSJ2. The general art style changed over time as well. I personally like late-Saiyan saga and early Freeza saga the best as far as art goes. Some of those last few episodes of the Freeza saga look horrendous though.
