Balderdash. Dragon Ball is a direct metaphor for the current crisis in the auto industry. This can be explained through time travel.
Iâm split as I like both of them (grew up watching DB and DBZ back in the days, and watching the american voice overs as well), I really do like the US English sub overs, because quite frankly, they feel alot more unique, I mean, Vegetaâs voice is just simply perfect in his US version, as well as Gokuâs voice over.
However, in the japanese voice oversâŚyou simply cannot beat the japanese version of the âKamehameha!â The way the japanese voice actor does it for Goku is simply epic on so many levels, because it sounds threatening and it gives you a sense of like âOh shit, where fucked!â While the US one is good, itâs not nearly as epic as the japanese voice over of the Kamehameha.
On another note, I was debating with one of my buddies who loves to downgrade the abilities of the DBZ characters. He said to me that Goku at SSJ3, Mystic Gohan and Vegito would only be capable of blowing up a planet and was not capable of destroying anything else above that, which completely threw me off my chair, because Vegeta blew up a planet before he was even SSJ1, and Cell stated that he could destroy a solar system if he wanted too.
So how could SSJ3 Goku, or Mystic Gohan not achieve the same capabilities of Cell with his statement of taking out a solar system, if not far greater then that, and especially someone like Vegito whoâs just simply retarded in his abilities. However he rides on the fact that these characters where never ever âshownâ doing anything above blowing up a planet (Obviously Broly was shown blowing up solar systems, however that was a movie and thus wasnât canon, so we both didnât use that within our debate), and neither have Cell, even though he stated that. Yet my revoke to that was that it would become stupid if at their power lvls (meaning SSJ2 onward) that if every single time they fought, solar systems or galaxies where being wiped out just because two beings where dueling would get super old and boring fast.
Not only that, but Iâve always felt that the DBZ characters although when they use their energy blast it wipes out alot of terrain, I still believe that they focus most of their power towards the opponent. So although a Kamehameha may do alot of damage within the surrounding area, someone like Goku would force most of the channeled energy of the Kamehameha at his opponent, thus you donât see the planet vaporizing every time he uses it.
I know DBZ characters arenât the most broken characters of all time, however they are definitely up their in their capabilities, especially characters like Goku, Gohan, Vegito*, and other non-canonâs like Broly.
Anyone else thinking the way I do as well or am I the only one on this boat?
Lastly, on a side note, Iâve always found Chichi to be the most attractive DB female even ahead of the young Bulma. However I wished that they would of made Chichi with her down more instead of it being all tied up, she wouldâve looked way better that way imo.
The way I see it, Drummond was perfect for Vegetaâs evil phase, while Sabat was perfect for his transition into a âgoodâ guy.
The Japanese version, on the other hand, had spectacular music, I was so depressed when Gohan turned SSJ2 in the dubbed version. All the drama was sucked dry from it.
spirit vs spirit was fucking awesome when he transformedâŚespecially that imagery of the pheonix where gohan seemingly is reborn.
uuummm what about their technology?
i agree with you but nothing beats the japanese version and nothing beats getting on my nerves like the english version. i bet if the vaâs check was going to be cut if they donât put enough emotion and effort as much as the jap. ver. i bet the english ver. would be up there with the jap. ver.
yeah the kamehameha does sound more scary in japanese
Japanese Kamehameha sounds more scary because its a woman behind it. If Chi Chi had Saiyajin blood in her I swear to God that bitch would break the universe.
And nothing tops Drummondâs âYOU WONâT ESCAPEâŚMY WRAAAAAATH!â during the Freeza Saga. I watched the scene afterwards in Japanese and it just didnât have the same impact. First time I saw it in EnglishâŚI got a little scared.
And the dub had a lot of moments where they ruined what would have otherwise been a powerful scene. Not just the music either, but mis-translation of lines and what not.
Eh I know Iâm waaay in the minority here, but I hated the music in the japanese version. It was fucking boring for the most part. Only time I really liked the japanese music is when Gohan went ssj2(spirit vs spirit) and when Goku is about to kill Kid Buu with the spirit bomb.
Drummond had a couple of great parts. I always loved âHEAR ME KAKAROT, YOUâRE FIINIIIIIIISHED!!â Shit was epic.
She got punched through a wall and into a tree by her husband and survived with a few bumps and scratches. Donât sleep on Chi Chi.
im pretty damn sure chi chi is not humanâŚeither that or its fucking akane from ranma 1/2.
Actually, it was a playful âpat on the backâ by Goku gone horribly wrong. :razzy:
He might as well have backed over her with a cement mixer.
Come to think about it, a lot of the characters of Dragon Ball are extraordinarily resilient, even the ones who arenât conditioned by combat with space aliens and mythical beings.
whats funny about that little tap is the z fighters are VERY good at holding their power level down to near nothing
the man brings up a good point. gohan has to constantly remember that when going as the great saiyaman.
course trunks and gotenks dont really give a fuck who they hurt as long as its nothing cute like a puppy.
Oh yes! Drummond is that powa. Drummondâs âpissed Vegetaâ is epic and scary.
i love when chi chi powered up. that was so epic
japan must be like a national tourist attraction in dbz worldâŚthink about the new grandcanyons and crators they got because of the fights theyâve had. tourist trap.
My take on Drummond is that heâs like Jack Nicholson in the 1989 Batman movie. He hams it up to the point where heâs always fun onscreen, but he doesnât necessarily capture the characterâs personality. For him, itâs not about doing a spot-on acting job, but how outrageous he can be.
First time I saw that scene I thought to myself, âSee you in another dimension Gohan!â
Itâs still a miracle Vegeta didnât turn Super Saiyan right there, he had no pupils and everything.
