I have not played the game yet, I get it next week. I have friends that are skilled in SSF4 but have no experience in MvC3. They are complaining that the game is broken. They say that they have 20 win streak with no skill whatsoever. They also say that if you find a remotely good player, you can just cheat with an infinite and beat them. I cannot give my opinion, but do you guys think the game is really that broken? My friends are claiming that they are going back to Super.
The game’s not broken it’s just XFactor can basically turn the entire match into a coinflip and execution curve is about as low as gas prices back in the 90’s.
did anybody watch the bo8b stream yesterday?? Task/Morr/Lei Lei vs Ammy/Wesk/Phoe IN GF weres ya boy sent at?? (granted phoenix is WAYYY better than sentinel)
You know what would be fun? Bring back MvC2 Sent, he’d be just as powerful but would require talent again!
I trade all the time in this game. It usually nets me a free combo.
Unless you play Megaman/Cable/Tron.
Just a certain someone… not saying who.
rim shot!
Yes, and the damage I’ve seen in mvc3 is above that. I’m looking forward to seeing how damaging the combos are by Evo. XFC == you are Tron-Y/glitched Juggy.
mmct is a terrible team. It’s just designed to beat mashy Mag/Storms. Play smart against it and you’ll never lose.
People are still complaining about Sentinel? That’s soooooo last week.
Execution requirements may be quite low but MvC3 on the whole is way harsher and demoralising on the casual player than say SFIV. A small difference in skill level can have the lesser player completely shut down over and over.
I’m a mediocre Marvel player and I get at least 3 ragequits an evening from other (slightly worse) players. I think we forget how brutal this game (and FGs in general) are on casuals.
Nothing to do with the subject. I created a thread to comment about ONO’s tweets an It was shutdown. Now I see every single day, comments of ONO’s tweets on the front page! LOL
So, is the game scrubby or not? I see only “explanations.” In a simple format, YES or NO, is the game scrubby or not?
Because SFIV moves at a turtles pace. So not only are the inputs easy, you have like a century to do them. mvc3 on the other hand is very quick so the leniency with inputs has less of an impact I feel. There’s less concentrating on how to win in a situation aside from ‘stayawaystayawaystayaway’ and ‘attackattackattack’. Keep away isn’t easy either due to the speed so 9/10 with less skilled players I’ll bet the guy who just super jumps and air dashes to the other side of the screen first has a decent chance.
There’re fewer opportunities to fuck up and still win. In sfiv you can mess up quite a bit and still have plenty of hp and meter to pull a win out of nowhere. in mvc3 if you fuck up just a few times you’re toast against anyone who can hit a,b,c,s,b,b,c,s, super or some variation there of.
likewise if you’re considering how your team works and want to play keepaway you can cover the entire screen with projectiles and someone who can’t figure that out is going to be really pissed and likely just run into shit out of frustration. not to mention advancing guard even if they do close the gap.
it’s just a game of extremes. that’s good for capcom since sf4 is very moderate by comparison. ‘scrubby’ is just a silly term and shouldn’t matter to anyone. enjoy your games and if you really dig something you WILL get better at it. it’s fine to not know what you’re doing as long as you realize and either a. move to something more your style or b. work to improve your play. if mvc3 lets everyone put their foot in the door that’s fine. the good players are still going to win more often.

Im a fighting game noob in every sense first of all. I keep reading how so many people are NOT thrilled with the X-Factor mechanic, that its too overpowered. (I also have read at this point that almost every fighter has been mentioned as overpowered… does that make it balanced?)
Here’s why, in all my noobness, I struggle with why X-Factor is so bad (Yes, I have played the game.)
Player A - Has all 3 characters, still has X-Factor
Player B - Down to one character, still has X-Factor
How is Player B at such a tremendous, broken advantage when Player A has X-Factor as well, and 3 characters? It is powerful, extremely so, no doubt, will definitely give Player B a fighting chance, but if Player A, with that power as well, and THREE characters, cant hold them off for the win (only last for 30 seconds)… wouldnt that be on Player A?
Good, they should be.
I wouldn’t know about scrubby, but it’s definitely back watered. When I use projectiles I get bored and no longer consider it a fighting game. When I go for melee it’s almost impossible to get to them. When others rush, they don’t rush, they teleport behind you and crap hits and it looks like they are rushing. Then when you try to enjoy a game and beat the crap out of the other person there typically tends to be some long as combo which removes the fighting part and is more of a sequence.
No, that’s every week.
