And this is coming from a guy who has a graphics card that was standard in 2004, and thinks an HD 4200 is great. lmfao.
My work laptop uses an HD 4200. It’s perfect for the kind of tasks I do with CAD.
You see, video games are nigga technology. They’re a waste of time, and most importantly, unproductive.
Computers are versatile machines that, for the most part, are used for productivity. Word documents, power point presentations, database management, Excel, html development, video editing software, flash and shockwave development tools, coding your video games, etc etc. This is what computers are used for.
If you built an electricity-hog PC just to play high performance video games, and nothing else except for the occasional web-surfing… kill yourself.
Yeah, I admit that I like to waste time playing video games. But unlike those fat neckbeard closet racist PC gamers, I waste my time on a machine that was built for the very idea of wasting time.
I’m gonna build a rig that draws out excessive amounts of energy so I can play Generic First Person Shooter Sub-Sequel 4 at high settings. My home PC is reserved for off-site work because it never ends, and web browsing of course. Because my job requires me to not be a useless piece of shit.
My Playstation 3 satisfies all my gaming needs. You can’t play Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, Demon Souls, Gran Turismo, Wangan Midnight, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD, Gundam Extreme VS, Gundam Unicorn, or MGS4 on the PC. I could go on for centuries, listing all the games the PC missed out on. The PS3 also serves as an entertainment center for Blu Rays, even though I could install a BD drive in my PC. But I would rather be watching my shit in 5.1
I already made it clear that I was ignorant about PC components. As soon as I said “alienware” and “gaming laptop” this thread really started to sizzle.
At least with HD 4200 I can run Half-Life 2 like it was supposed to.
If you’re a bourgeois mother fucker, then yes. It must feel pretty good to have all that disposable income for platforms dedicated to certain genres. My paychecks are more than enough to purchase advanced gaming rigs every month, but I don’t like wasting my money on shit that I don’t really need.
What the PS3 did right was letting developers utilize a mouse and keyboard for their game. Unfortunately, most devs didn’t want to take the time programming custom M&Kb controls into game, especially with daunting architecture. I would probably play more shooters if developers would just let gamers plug in and play with their usb keyboards and mouses.
@ElderGod LoudHoward=SisqoDisco/Havatchew/whatever. It sounds too much like him, check out his post history, coupled with the fact the real BeGuiled came back.
Most of SRK is too broke for a PC that can play games decently.
As far as PC gaming and console gaming going anywhere, they’re both sticking around. Unless you guys have like, stock invested in Pentium or Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo, none of that trending stuff should really be concerning. Although I will say it’s good to see more genres finally get ported to PC.
I do plan on building my own desktop but it’s not the most convenient choice at the moment.
If I’m going to house a top of the line rig, then I might as well make it a total fucken battle station with a 50 inch monitor, Hi-Def speakers, the whole nine yards. All of which that I don’t have the space and budget for. lmao.
For now I’d just rather have a gaming notebook, decent headphones, and a gamepad in handy. It may not be the best value but it’ll serve me well for the time being.
An Amiga 500 was affordable and much less expensive. For 500 $ in the early 90s you had access to amazing games, covering all genres. A Windows/DOS PC at that time with the same capabilities would cost 1500 $ at least.
I was lucky to play games on an Amiga 2000 (1500 $) in 1988. There was no Windows/DOS PC at that time that was equivalent in gaming. What PCs had become in 2000 with multi-tasking, you could perform it with an Amiga in the late 80s.
IMO, yeah I’m with the other posters. $230 is a BIIIIT too low if you’re planning on playing games.
Though I’d recommend not asking here but registering on a PC forum. They’ll give you the bare minimum budget that’s up to date and with future discounts on solid GPU/CPUs in mind.
It’s possible to future proof your desktop with $500-$600 especially with all these sales that are constantly going on with these GPUs, but you won’t find those deals if you don’t know what to look for or where to look. HENCE you ask someone that knows.
Not too shabby, plays most current games at low/occasionally medium at a decent manageable frame rate and can resell it for the same price later down the line, would have been way better if it had a i7 but it was given to me. Go to the link above and see if there’s something you can find with your budget.
Perhaps someone would sell you a decent laptop for a good price on the forum or give you advice on what to hunt for and search on other forums.
