Is PC gaming really on the rise, while console gaming is declining?

Have to keep CPU in mind thanks everyone. I originally thought that CPU didn’t matter much because I’ve heard people say that games are more GPU bound than CPU. Intel is really that much a better investment than AMD? I was recently looking at the fx-6300 and that seemed like a good deal.

It’ll run what you want it to, it’s not “bad” by any means, but it’s markedly inferior to Intel architecture. Here is a direct comparison between that AMD hexcore and a comparable i5:

PC was on the heavy rise during the end of the PS2/ early PS3 era. Now i think more peeps are giving consoles love and will do so until after christmas and until next gen console hysteria wears off.

computers aren’t made to be consoles though, there computers. Think its funny when people use computers only to play games

Computers are made to do what ever you want them to.

sounds like a waste of money, when you could just buy a console and do the same thing, you might as well use more the just 1 function

A gaming computer can do more than just game, and you buy a gaming computer to have the games play a shit ton better than their console counter parts.

that was my point. Some people I know only use a pc to game, when it has so many other functions. You might as well use them

Thats also part of the cost argument, people always say shit like “why should I pay so much just to game”, and I always tell them they can do so much more than just game on a PC. Its like they’ve never used a PC before or something. Most of these people have crappy office PC’s and so I tell them to think of it as a mighty upgrade. You’ll still have all your office features, plus more most likely, and you can play dope games…the way you want.

I use laptops to browse the internet and write papers.

I use my consoles i payed for myself to game on. Which is like 1-2 games a year unless its summer, so i am just borrowing games.

Why, in the hell, would anyone spend 700 dollars so they can play games better? Its a huge ass waste of money to me. Unless your just that up or you have absolutely no responsibilities to pay for whatsoever, then yea, drop all that money at once so you could waste time better.

I have many responsibilities…it took me 3 months to piece together my PC (a 7 or 8 hundred dollar PC). Ive said it before…I do way more than just game on my PC. I read a lot, I do video editing, image editing, go to school, watch movies, educate my children, store media, video streaming…I could go on and on about the uses of a PC.

I also game on it. And I definitely enjoy them way more than I do on a console.

A good PC costs as much as a brand new console…

Buying a console at launch is dumb as shit too, unless its on some ps2/dreamcast 250 launch day era.

I mean, I said in the post if your just that up, then yea, treat yourself and buy a gaming PC. That post was more directed at people that say PC is inexpensive, especially now where people struggle to get good jobs.

We got school and shit to pay for, no one got time for 800 dollars to play a couple of hours a week.

People that say PCs are inexpensive are of three catagories

A. Make enough money that 800$ dropped won’t mean much

B. Live with parents/anyone who pay for any important bills for them

C. Truly don’t know how to spend your money.

Or people who know how to wait for sales…

I don’t think anyone has said they are inexpensive, just that they are not as expensive as people seem to think they are.

Who says you have to pay 800 dollars all at once? You can buy parts over time. Im pretty sure anyone can budget their money right and save for a decent computer.

I think what people are trying to tell you is that that SAME PC you use to write your papers, browse SRK, and work on whatever else you need to work on, can also be the SAME PC that you play games on. A PC is infinitely more useful than any console, and most of the consoles nowadays are starting to resemble PCs anyway, so that should tell you something.

I bought a $750 Vaio laptop. Compared to the Macs I was buying (which were great computers, but crazy expensive) that IS cheap.

how many viruses you think there are for PCS, and how many viruses there are for macs? And if you are such a expert please explain how much easier it is to hack a mac, do you even know how much protection there is on a mac? 90% of the market is PCs so why would you waste your time anyway learning how to hack into a mac?

Im no expert but I dont think he was saying there are a bunch of viruses on Mac, just that there are some. He also didnt say its much easier to hack a mac, just that hackers are putting more effort into it.

This guy must be a mac owner. Fuckin’ idiots dont even completely read shit before they try to get all defensive about a product they like when they think someone is bashing it.

Brand loyalty is some crazy shit.

you must be a pc user, just throwing out shit, ya im going to agree with every other pc user

Do you even read your own posts before you actually post them? Do you actually read other posts before you respond to them? If you say yes then you just have terrible reading comprehension.

Im just assuming you took what he said and I said as a bash against Mac’s. Not so.
