Tekken is probably the only fighter with single player that you could genuinely be content with but heres hoping for the best.
This is also true, I spent alot of time on the last few tekkens doing just single player for character items and whatnot, but outside of that there was little to do if noone else wanted to come over and play.
So again they will have to be REALLY spot on with their netcode,I mean I’ve never really been a big fan of Tekken games (Cept perhaps Dark Ressurection on PSP)dispite having played them all but if it can bring some good features for online to the table then I’ll probably be easily persuaded.
I mean theres only so many times I can handle facing the same characters over and over on BB and dealing with Ragequitters spoiling my GP progress on SF4…I NEED another fighter, I just wish KoFXII was it
Oh yeah I forgot that the online play is the most important factor in whether a fighting game is good or not. The offline play is after all a non issue since no one actually uses the versus mode.
Unfortunately we don’t all have friends of comparable skill to play these games with, sometimes we just want to get in a quick few rounds before doing something else, or just don’t know anyone interested in playing it. That is why online play is important. I like KOFXII alot, but I would not recommend anyone buy it unless they had friends to play with or until after they make the net code better. Net code isn’t the MOST important thing, but it is definitely the second most important.
Again, and I’ve stated this before…so I’ll cut and paste my original statement on that same excuse…
*"What people fail to understand is that when your playing with friends you have to deal with them being there, lets face it most people do NOT have the temperment for competition.
Most of my friends either dont play games, dont play fighting games,or dont take losing very well.
Which is part of the joy of playing online, I dont have to convince my non-gamer friends to play and I dont have to deal with the nerdrage from my other friends, not to mention I can experience different strategies against random people than I will against my friends who do the same crap over and over no matter how many times they lose, and Im able to play the game whenever I freakin feel like instead of just when Im able to have people over, I mean if I pay $60 I want my god damn moneys worth.
The problem here is noone sees a problem with the fact that the online is garbage and it was a key selling point in the games advertising, throw that fact in with the fact that theres next to no offline content and theres a huge problem.
If your going to market your game as competition for games like SF4 or BB and have the game focus solely on online then it better fucking work!
People shouldnt have to play strictly with friends in this day and age, thats the point of online, and alot of coding has reached a sophisticated enough level that this shouldnt be such a problem to handle but for some reason it is for SNK.
Now if this had been a $20 game then yes I probably would keep it around to play with friends occasionally, but for $60 it needs to work in ALL aspects or it doesnt need to be released at all. "*
Not to mention that almost 80% of gamers nowadays are all graphics whores, I cant tell you how many times I’ve heard someone tell me they wont play KoF or BB because it doesnt look like SF4, alot of my friends are included in this group and they all suck at SF4 anyway!
That same demographic seems to always prefer FPS games as well, also where alot of my friends seem to lurk.
Plus not everyone wants to make an ordeal to invite 2 or more people just to play a freakin game at home, for $60 I shouldnt have to make that kind of effort, otherwise I would go to a damn arcade except that they dont seem to exist anymore on the west coast.
So stop making this sorry excuse in defense of a game that for lack of a better word SUCKS, if you have to limit yourself and rely on people coming over to play a game that has an online mode then its not worth owning, period.
Plus this would have been less of an issue if there was some actual offline content to go through which also adds to the “Party” aspect of these games when you invite people over.
For a game that lacks so much and only has online going for it then YES functional netcoding for online IS THE MOST IMPORTANT, OTHERWISE LOWER THE PRICE OR ADD MORE CONTENT, end of story.
Again this game is great, but the faulty online holds it back and makes it suck.
when will the next installment come out?
the GT review says “next year”
being fair, a lot of my friends (if not almost all) say that they dont like the graphics of sf4 cuz they arent that great like sc4 or cod5, funny thing is that many of them are more impressed with bb and kof xii about how the game looks and how well animated is, just throwing it in
lol, people actually expected good netcode!?
snk/ignition just buy a GGPO license, go legendary as being the first company to use it on consoles, and have the best online code in the whole world Goddammit!!
dude, I’m so broke I can’t buy this game. I’m hoping blockbuster will have it for rent
edit: complains in this thread are big lols, people expected too much, I didn’t. I know new graphics change game a lot, I was there 1996 if you know what I’m talking about. lack of content is actually a good reasonable excuse though.
blazblue has GGPO. They are the 1st.
Well it all depends on whether you guys wanted to wait or not. This game was announced and came out pretty quick for the arcades, then came out roughly 3 months later for the ps3.
I would personally rather have it now than have a tekken 6 style wait. There’s always gonna be KOF XIII with a complete story. So you can wait for that too.
not GGPO perse, its more like an hibryd between hdr and ggpo (at least what i heard), the only proof about it is an old post of the Aksys rep, saying
“Lest just say that we love Ponder :lovin:” or something like that

For those who don’t know a single soul within a 15 miles radius that cares the slightest about fighters, let alone KoF, online IS a big part of the picture and could redeem the game easily. Without online play, the game is sitting on my shelf getting no play.

It’s just starting up, but it’s something to check out, folks.
Cool im in the chat room and playing in a team battle on XBL.
"The SNKP Development team has asked us to tell everyone to check their console’s NAT settings. If your console is set to NAT3, change it to NAT1 and be sure to forward your router ports as well.
Please check your console settings, attempt this “fix” and report your findings back to this thread. SNKP has claimed some users have experienced improved online performance by doing this. It is important they receive accurate feedback on their “solution” so they can take the next step in bringing the online performance to a working state.
Many of you may have already tried this but please bear with us, this is a necessary step in order to move things forward and make the online situation clear for SNKP.
We thank you for any and all help in this situation."
Hear that, guys? It’s your internets that’s making everything suck. Not shitty programming. :looney:
I got the game today, gotta say the game isnt that bad very solid gameplay and new sprites look amazing I just hoped 360 had at another feature like the ps3 did (clan support) its not very fair to the 360 users…
Tourney just ended. It was a good room. Some folks even came away with some swag as well! Thanks to folks for coming out!
Ive been playing online consistently and so far I’ve only experienced a few lag matches with a disconnect… Majority of the time it’s cool.
Rank matches are a no no though, I suggest just playing player matches for now only because the rank matches seem to have tons of red bars… not cool… my win % stinks lol
I thought only 360 had ranked matches?
