Yeah as of lately I’ve been learning to just block. And if anything, Id rather eat a thrown than eat a crush counter combo. Just be patient and recognize when their attack string is over and you can throw something out.
Of course if they are being REAL with the disrespect just throw out a reversal here and there.
Learn to block and then use V-Reversal when you’re being pressured. Not sure what kind of reversal Bison has but if it knocks down you can start your own pressure.
Cross ups in this game get me a lot because most of them look like they’re hitting in the front not to mention the spacing that they’re being landed from. Just something to adjust to I guess.
That video is wrong on one thing and one thing only. Reversals (specials and CA’s) have a 6frame buffer window as opposed to 4f from SF4. So it’s actually EASIER to get a reversal out.
actually I found my groove already LOL I also found my main and it was the last character I tried, which is Laura.
I have no problems anymore and I am smooth sailing now. Thanks for the replies.
I feel like the neutral game involves a lot of frame trapping. Pressure seems more dangerous than ever. I’ve learned to block more to avoid getting my ass kicked.
It’s not just frame trapping, but there’s a guess between frames and range. Say you get hit by Cammys st.MK. Obviously, she’s at frame advantage, but there’s still a 7f gap between it and another one, so you’ll have time to squeeze something in for the counterhit. However, whatever you’re pressing will probably whiff if she doesn’t go for another one, so you might get punished. She might also opt to go for something quicker than another st.MK which would counterhit you if you pressed anything, but would whiff if you didn’t press anything, again opening up the possibility of a whiff punish.
There isn’t anything particularly remarkable about any of that, but it is a bit remarkable how rapid it is. Situations like that pop up at such a furious pace. I think it’s because how easy it is to do normals with reversal timing, coupled with the low pushback on mid range pokes.
It does, but frame trapping generally requires being relatively close. Don’t lose the neutral to put yourself in that situation. Also find your characters high active frame poke that zones out the random buttons to calm people down so you can step in yourself.
Everybody is still playing SF4 where pressing buttons was great. It’s still great because people aren’t used to meaty timing especially with the 3 different wake-up options.
I had a really bad night with this yesterday and decided screw it, I’m done respecting my opponents with silly mixup attempts and I’m going to go for meaty CC every single time until people learn.
This sums up my game plan exactly. When I knock the opponent down
If they have no meter - go for CC
Do they have meter? Yes? - do like a dash or something so they feel pressured, then block and cc the recovery
I’m not the best at it, but it’s my game plan for the most part. Once that stops working, I’ll move on to more complex mix ups.
you know what really grinds my gears?
Cammy’s vskill + lp. How do they get the timing to do another attack after something like that?!!
Vtriggers my rage…
