Is cable cheap?

Cable is cheap, but not that cheap.

I asked people on SRK if running takes skill like a noob, and one said "If you have Cable, Storm, Blackheart, Spiral, Cyclops or Sent then no, running takes no skill. But in actuallity, running does take alot of skill.

Have you ever played BeatsofD? That nigga is a motherfucking beast with IM and his Magneto is pretty damn good too. He has this team (Magneto/IM/Doom) that can kill you in one fucking combo. 40 hit rom s.hk+Doom xxx hypergrav xxx tempest Dhc into Proton Cannon. At that time, you are in the corner, and you know how broken IM is in the corner. He PERFECTED me with that team.

If you do not know how to run correctly, you will get owned. And I know for a fact that only Wentinel, the best Cable on Xbox live IMO, Mixup, although I never played his Cable in person but Romneto, a MAGNETO player, told me that Mixup was a monster, and probably observedego, since he can play at a high level with EVERYBODY, can do this. And Im on my way lol.

Oh and the top 10 is fucking cheap.

Magneto? Who the fuck has that much priority and speed? And his Bnb is his infinite. wtf?

Sentinel? Stomp, Stomp, Stomp, AAA, repeat, win.

Storm? Damn why is she yelling so much? And why am I getting beat out so much? Omg she coming towards me! Damn Im dead.

Cable? chip game is good, and AHVB X3!!!

IM? like 10 broken infinites.

Spiral? Trap that builds crazy meter. Chip, chip, teleport repeat.

Cyclops? Priority is so broken. And SOB is a big wtf.

Strider? With Doom? Not fair at all lol. Hell, even Strider by his self is a fucking pain.

Blackheart? I don’t even need to go further lol.

Doom? 50% bnb, annoying keepaway game, great priority, what more do you want? An infinite? Oh wait, he has 2.

I would even go as far as Dhalsim being broken because of his meter building abilities and ability to runaway the whole match. Thank god he doesn’t give much damage.

Short answer, yes.

Did I teach you how to hate spiral Dizzy? :stuck_out_tongue: I cant believe this thread is still goin lol

i love this post. i dont get why more people dont complain about blackheart being cheap, especially when combined with a lockdown assist :rage:

Actually yes. You, my friend Joe, Hypnotic and MadBooFace made me hate Spiral/Sent and/or Spiral in general. Everytime I play Joe, I get angry and I just go on a rampage with Sentinel. I have never performed fastfly combos in my life until I played his Spiral. Spiral is CHEAP!

Sorry if it seemed like I trolled, but I had to prove my point. I play BH too, so I know how cheap he can be. Blackheart/Sent ftmfw.
And Dhalsim is fucking gdlk. I need to make a team with him real quick…

Now you’re just going to extremes there. Just because a high-skilled player can own an average cable-team, does not mean those characters aren’t cheap.

There was this one instance on X-Box live for example, when i went into this player room and ran into this one dude. He had a beastly Thanos team, and my mainstay line-up was no match for it, he destroyed me twice. Reaction time, mindgames, etc you name it and he was better.

I was going to bow out, but for the heck of it, stuck around and when my turn came again, i picked Cable/Sent/Cyke and went at it. Even though he was a player of much higher skill than I, and i never play those characters, he still had no answer for my spam and got destroyed.

Did i win because i was a better player? Hell no, its because i picked a cable-based team and cable is a sleazy ho-bag lol. Even a mid-level player like myself can PWN a Higher skilled one with BASIC Cable runaway tactics+backup spam on the side.

Edit: and when i say BASIC i mean it. There was no AHVBx3, guard block, etc involved in my win. My cable sucks lol.

The feeling of beating down a scrub using Cable is something that I hold near and dear to me. That said, I hate Cable when he’s used by scrubs. I don’t mind if you’re good, although getting caught in Cyclops’ assist and AHVB multiple times is frustrating. Cable taught me how to read character patterns better though, so that’s a plus.

Most scrubs are stupid though. thats why they lose against good players.

My thing is that you have to be extremely smart to play cable, or any runaway character at a high level. I play alot of stupid Blackhearts, Spirals, Storms, and definately Cables, and I own them for free with my Cable, and I beat them regularly with low-tiers. Now I still think that a scrubby Cable is still extremely tough for low-tiers, but against a good Cable, it is hard to win.

you probably won because the guy doesnt know how to fight cable/ end thread

I was not fighting some newb who never fought a cable before. It was a Good, EXPERIENCED player on Live. No doubt been around for years and faced many cable-based teams(can’t really last worth a damn in marvel without some idea on how to fight him).

Even though he was better, cable is el-cheapo and Thanos & co just didn’t have the tools to contend.

no doubt your assumptions fuel this type of ignorance. Your generalizations aren’t useful in any way.

Pretty cut & dry here: I went up against a higher skilled player armed with mids, who destroyed my mainstay lineup twice.

I went against him again this time with all tops and cable at the forefront, while he still had his mid team, and he lost horribly.

In addition to this i rarely, if ever, touch cable. So not only did i have nothing but the basics to work with, but also made plenty of mistakes of my own since my cable sucks. I still Dominated regardless.

Cable= cheap. Not unbeatable, but cheap. Wouldn’t be considered a “god-tier” if he wasn’t.

How is this post useful at all? If anything, it’s an example of one mid-tier user vs a low skill cable. These types of examples aren’t helpful for somone who is trying to learn about the game. It would serve the new players better by basing opinion on A) high skill cable user vs B) low/mid tier user who is very experienced at approaching cables options + the priorities of his assists. Ask yourself why vdo is able to close the distance vs top tier options, make notes of his positioning vs top tier option sets.

cable is easy to use yes and in the right hands hard to even touch. if that = cheap then yes

Its for the purpose of the thread, and giving an example. If cable was not cheap, then theres no way i’d have been able to totally PWN that dudes Thanos team that way that i did with my unskilled cable fluff.

On a side note its so annoying when i hear players attempt to bring that wishy-washy crap argument in. Claiming how it does not matter who is picked, only the skill level of the players. Thats Grade-A horsehit right there. Some characters are simply a LOT better equipped than others.

Especially when its by players who main said characters. I guess its so they’ll feel less guilty and won’t have to admit to themselves that they’re being jackasses with that gameplay style lol.

A basic definition of cheap: Whomever is able to do the MOST damage, with the LEAST skill possible and lowest risk to themselves in the process.

Don’t be like this moron people, step your game up, not your excuses.

^^ Wow flinging insults eh? A sure sign when a poster has been backed into a corner with the other’s logic, and can no longer come up with a counter-argument.

Not that you had much of one, if any, to begin with…

I’m simply pointing out that anything you say should be taken with a grain of salt. My main concern is that the new players realize that you’re horribly misinformed and that your advice should be avoided like the plague.

I’m not giving anyone advice, i’m just telling it like it is. Again, you’ve yet to come up with a counter-argument of ANY kind.

Hell, do you even have an argument here? I’ve already given a detailed explanation on my case & views several times, whereas you have not said well…anything, beyond simply telling me i’m somehow wrong.

Okayyyyy…

Dude, if your Cable sucks, he should of got in that ass, even if you had a good AAA in Cyke (Cap might of been a different story). Either he sucks or you are good with Cable. Which one is it?

A good Cable IMO does not need an AAA, like Cable guy’s Cable. He can zone you out with cable’s own specials and a projectile assist. If you can do that you are a good cable. A good Cable can also kill or really hurt somebody in one solid hit and three meters. If you can do that, you are a good Cable. If you can punish any move including Hail, then either you have gdlk reactions or you have a good Cable. If you can’t do any of that then your Cable sucks.

This being said, Thanos does not have many options against Cable but Thanos still should of got in that ass. If your Cable sucks, then he sucks. Sorry but this guy does not know how to play against Cable.

Hold it right there…

So you totally forgot about Rouge then huh? Rouge’s damage output is bananas compared to the top 8. One aircombo is 51 damage, where most characters average 44 or less. and rouge is pretty hard to punish. so by your definition, Rouge is cheap and she is god tier (because you said that Cable is cheap, that is why he is god tier).

What about Magneto? He is very high risk. You know how many times I beat a good magneto player just by calling Cap and jumping back with Cable? Though is damage output is really good, a number of his moves are punishable and he requires alot of skill. So saying that, Magneto is not god tier (which MANY players in this forum will be happy to show you why magneto is god tier).

Now last time I checked, Rouge is mid-tier and Magneto is God tier.

Im not saying Cable isn’t cheap, because he is cheap with the ability to take out the whole cast of characters in one solid hit, but still you not putting up much of an arguement at all.

EDIT: Look at VDO and how he rapes Cable teams with fucking Rogue/Colossus/Ken. THAT is a good player.

Not my Cable team. But yeah VDO is pretty good with that team.

I don’t know why people hate getting hatemail using cable. That’s one of the main reasons I keep using him lol. Although I do wish I put more time and effort into using magneto and storm more effectively. Cable’s cheap, but not as cheap as Mags and Storm.
