The person you quoted is talking about his matchup. Assuming that he is talking about DJ, he is correct. It’s a get out of jail free card. If DJ is in the same situation… most Bison players would say something like “all you got to do is block”. That’s bullshit.

Bison’s problem isn’t the lack of overhead or lack of mixups. Most overheads don’t lead to anything, and his counterhit / throw mixup is legit. He’s just not rewarded enough for it (i.e. damage or untechable knockdown). Therefore Bison needs to get the lead first, or make sure the deficit is never that big in the first place.
Bison is near the top of my most hated list. I don’t hate the character or people who play him, but when someone good plays him, its just blatantly obvious how good the character is as well. Got a lot of respect for him since I used to main him but he really can just be a hassle to deal with sometimes.
Guile is at the top of my list, cant stand the guys fighting style, moves, design, everything.
if you block against bison you usually get backed into the corner and proceed to get chipped to death unless you have meter or a good gameplan. I think one of the reasons he has a bit below average damage is because he gets plenty of safe chip damage + pressure along with it. His throw damage output is legit though.

To some degree, yes, because it’s basic to most fighting games. But some characters don’t have normals that give frame advantage on block, and others don’t walk fast enough to tick throw effectively.
A lot of people thought Cammy was initially garbage because she lacked an overhead and a crossup, so she “lost to downback”. Then people discovered she could punish crouch tech (which is different than counterhitting, but the point is the same) and now she’s considered a lot better.
I remember that argument, that was before using TKCS took off and before AE when she lost it, well meterless TKCS anyways.
Agreed. I got away with so many throws on my friends’ yun it wasn’t even funny. Although bison thought it was when I messed up an input to do his U1 from a wiffed dive kick.
I need to get some of his bnb’s down but I’m starting to really like him. I like his pokes and that I feel like I can actually get out of situations. During the last couple of matches against my friends’ Abel I had him backed into a corner and was just doing a lot of pokes, sk’s and all the pressure all day. Shame I didn’t know the match up too well though (he was spamming rolls a lot to get out himself) but if/when I have more experience I think I could give him a good fight.
Play Hakan, try to oil up, and say that again. Holding DB does NOT work for a good amount of characters.
Played a bit more tonight and discovered why I hate bison so much, his normals fuck me up big time. Hakan loses so bad unless oiled. And if you’re a good bison you won’t let that happen.

“Blocking beats Bison” would imply that he has risky, unsafe moves. You can sit there and repeat scissor kick and psycho crusher is just a teleport that hurts the opponent as well. Combine that with the fact that MK and HK are god like and his way too fast movement speed and you’ve got yourself a broken character. More people should be complaining really. No overhead? Who gives a fuck? I’m sure the Bison defense force will come in here and give me all this theory shit on what you can do to beat Bison, but when you people are sitting here saying shit like “blocking beats Bison” it shows just how delusional you are. This character is nearly as bad as Yun.
