Is America done in SF5?

30 games, games been out for a month…yeah some people are gonna get crazy and be super addicts where they play more than 1 game a day.

I never said that I expected my situation to be the norm. Just that I don’t know where people find the time to sit down and seriously lab stuff and play the thousands of games that some people already have.

America would’ve had a chance if they put Lupe in. Where was America’s hero when we needed him most?

Yes.

Next question.

Americans will always be a step behind the Japanese.

Even if America would get the game 3 months in advance before the Japanese, the Japanese will still send 3-4 players to your majors and bask in your pool, you will always start a festival and chant OK USA! in your majors when one of your top players manage to beat a Japanese because it will always be seen as an amazing feat, while the Japanese see you as mere pot money stepping stones.

There are many obvious factors that make it so the Japanese will remain superior, stop listening to guys like Artaro talking about catching up, you aint catching up to shit, and never will.

Cry.

Americans are too fat, lazy. Drink too much beer, eat too many donuts, don’t take anything seriously. They worry about things like story mode, and writing fanfictions of street fighter characters. They concern themselves with styling showmanship rather than doing what it takes for victory.

Meanwhile the Japanese are all business, every minute spent playing SFV is a productive minute. Every minute not playing SFV, aside from the necessity of 3 meals and sleep, is spent meditating and visualizing victory and various match up scenarios.

America never stood a chance.

That explains why a Korean won.

So idk if anyone noticed but Arturo tweeted about the west coast players coming together with east coast players to share tech, Don’t know how serious he is about doing that but that’d be interesting. I have a feeling that Japan shares tech with each other more than US players, people here learn something and keep it tucked until the next tourny and even then they don’t show everything until they get to top 8. NCR is still ahead though.

They’re serious. They were doing exhibitions at final round. No money, just communication.

That’s not a fair comparison at all. The Japanese players that came over to play are all amazing players while undoubtedly many of the 900+ US players were just average players who just played for fun. It’s not like it was 15 random Japanese dudes that came over and started bodying people

kazunoko lost to mago & tokido. and of course top 9-16 is mostly american, who else is it supposed to be? tournament is 99% americans

and sonic fox is evo champion in 3 different games and probably the biggest talent in the country, only a matter of time before he’s the best american SF5 player

its simply impossible for americans to admit not being the best at something. and if they do, its always followed by an excuse why they are not the best

That explains why Fuudo didn’t give a shit when that Razer girl with the wide ass and short dress was taking a selfie with another Razer girl in front of him. He knew they were free and wouldn’t help him towards total victory

I’m aware of that, my point is that when the tournament consists of almost entirely US players (in this case), you are bound to have them trickle into the upper brackets.

I don’t really understand your point. The Japanese players earned their spot but the American players just made it there as a result of the tournament being mostly Americans? If that’s what you are trying to say that’s just silly

That’s my point in response to the claim that there were many Americans in the top 9-16…of course there would be, it’s a mostly American tournament so there are bound to be players that trickle up to those spots.

That’s basically what hes been saying for years

But they didn’t just “trickle up”. They beat good players to get to those spots. Anway, this is probably my last comment on the subject as I think the whole “fighting game nationalism” thing is pretty lame. Plus it seems like it’s not even Americans who dwell on whether or not they are better than Japan, it’s people from other countries who apparently have some sort of an inferiority complex (or, more likely, it’s just weebs)

On an even distribution of skill you’d see an even % of players from each nationality in each category. Having the asian contingent cluster at the top despite being like 5% of entrants implies they’re better players, while having Americans cluster in the spots under there implies both that they were worse players and that they have the numbers to fill out the rest of the bracket placements themselves.

There’s a lot of randomness in fighting game placements. Anyone can have a bad match and most early pools are just two rounds. If you stack a tournament with americans then they should have a mathematical advantage towards placing towards the top.

Why did the people who won, actually win?

Because during these matches they were better.

Just like any other instance of someone winning.

Looking at the sales numbers, yeah, america is done with SF
