As far as VFX go, I think Weta Digital did a great job, but ILM would have done better. Sometime it just seemed like the daytime scenes never got the lighting “just right”. I know that there were about 5 but they were the leads for a lot of the big stuff. I wonder why the switch, especially since Disney owns ILM, and that plan couldn’t have been that far removed to give them the work.
Usually the studio/writers are at least their laziest/greediest when part 3 comes out. Resting on their laurels bigtime from the success of the first two. So the 3rd movie is an abomination that tarnishes a once promising trilogy.

I think what hurt most about Mandarin, was the 2 movie setup into failure. I wouldn’t have minded so much, if it wasn’t something that was setup for such a long time.
I was about to get to this myself regarding RDJ. People are confusing who they dislike and equating their “undesirables” for throwaways. There are people who only watch Ironman for RDJ, just like how they’re tons of fangirls who’d probably boycott Thor if their precious Loki was replaced.
Speaking on that, when I was in the theater and Thor’s trailer came on, you had one camp of women squealing every time Thor was onscreen, and then another camp squealing when Loki appeared. An interesting dichotomy of women’s tastes.

Less seriously, its a common conspiracy theory here that that particular soap opera has a mythical reputation in the US, just based off of how many alumni have hit it big. kinda like a good luck charm. Nobody cares about this show, but if you leave it and move to the US magically you find success.
