Dude would be nowhere without these franchises… he’s not even acting he’s just himself.
Also the whole way they decided to use the mandarin was kinda dumb… wasn’t he like the “main” villain in the iron man comics and shit?

the only way I can accept their handling of the mandarin, is if they get somebody asian (Ken Watanabe’s name has been brought up before), and have that person be the true Mandarin, and get pissed that America created the fake one, and seek revenge in the future.
And I am still waiting for an explanation into how the fake Ten Rings organization was shown to be quite not fake in the first fucking movie.
And I thought they were supposed to explain where War Machine was during the Avengers…
Really disappointed with the Mandarin’s portrayal.
The uber nerd in me wanted to see a Fin Fang Foom appearance, but I don’t see how they would have pull that off in this particular franchise.
I personally think the Mandarin reveal and such was a safe and good idea. I’d rather they did this versus attempting to give the people the comic book version of the character along with Fing Fang Foom and fucking it up completely.
I don’t RockBogart, they waffle as fuck whether Thor and Asgard is meant to be actual magic based and whether they are just aliens that have super tech that seems like magic. I think they dropped the Mandarin in because like with the original Spider-Man films did with Venom, they really wanted to have one of the most iconic villains in the films just in case it stays as just a trilogy and there are no other Iron Man films set in this continuity.
I thought I read somewhere that RDJ is still under contract to at least show up in Avengers 2 but everyone else like Paltrow and Cheadle are up in the air. If this is the last solo Iron Man film for 8-10 years or whenever they do a reboot, I would be fine with that.
Way I see it, Killian heard of an Asain terrorist called Mandarin and decided to run with it to mask his own activities.
The real Mandarin will show up in the next IM film hopefully.
Would have also fit in with Stark’s anxiety over the whole alien invasion deal, had the comic book Mandarin come along with his alien tech rings.
I still think the movie would have been worse off if he was just fighting the comic book Mandarin. I liked it the way it was. You coulda left him out entirely or named him something else, but coming from someone who isn’t a gigantic comic book fan I thought it was a fun twist. I KNEW people were gonna be mad when I saw it happen though lol. Didn’t kill my enjoyment of the movie, anyway.
I’d bet against having Mandarin come back in his comic form, also. They’re going to eventually start building up to Thanos in Avengers 2, so I don’t see how Mandarin would tie in.
Yall remember when RDJ had to resort to taking gay roles in the Wu-Tang flick “Black & White,” and he got smacked around for making a pass at Iron Mike Tyson
Yeah son, has came aloooooooong way.
And they could have easily made a reasonable explanation with all the super science and magic that’s been shown.
In The Marvel cinematic universe the revelation of an alien crash landing(how the Mandarin made those rings) is Phase One tier, given how everybody flipped their shit when Thor showed up. The potential of extraterrestrial threats is the whole reason behind the team forming. Phase One was the time for revelations, Phase Two is preparation. If the real Mandarin were in Iron Man 3 then that would necessitate another Avenger helping Tony(even though comic Iron Man handles Mandarin alone often). If Iron Man beat the Mandarin by himself then I think it would go against the mood that the Avengers movie set.
Loved the mandarin reveal lol, i knew they wanted to keep things separate
Just tons of lols
Great movie, felt very eighties action movie-ish at the end which is awesome

Personally, I found the whole Mandarin reveal to be hilarious, but also lazy and disrespectful to the core fanbase who most certainly got conned into seeing one of the main Ironman villains be treated as a joke. I can definitely see why others would be offended, even though I thought the Mandarin was a retarded villain concept from a bygone era of guised racism. If that was their fear, they could’ve simply used a more modern iteration (Ken Watanabe in a business suit co-owning A.I.M.) sans fu manchu, silk robe and long, pointy fingernails.
The movie was very entertaining, but it didn’t really feel like a comic book movie, more like biopic about Tony Stark conquering his personal demons w/ villain plot assist. (hence, the personal narrative int he beginning and end)
The first Ironman is the only one that got everything right imo.
Movie was awesome until the Mandarin troll part. It just bothered me the rest of the movie. I was so fucking hype every time Mandarin went in the air. I refuse to believe this is the Mandarin we’re given  ! Saw the last showing and the general consensus was saltiness afterwards; one dude in the back even shouted ‘WTF!’ when Mandarin was revealed  . RockB is right; why couldn’t they just explain Mandarin’s back story as another-alien-artifact shtick; it’s not like there aren’t any alien shit happening in the other related Marvel movies also.
Guy Pearce was spot-on with his char though; one of my favorite actor since ‘Memento’. RDJ is Tony Stark in real life.
Fuck watanabe he a jap. Use an actual mainland chinese to play him like chow yun fat
Honestly come on people
Plus he has no problem playing stereotypes and can be a great character actor
Now you can still have the real mandaron in hiding. you can still have him as a mastermind
Ra’s al-ghoul shit
I thought the movie was pretty good. Not really understanding the level of backlash from neckbeards though. Obviously, people are going to have gripes but, if Marvel can create and Ultimates universe out of thin air then they can do the same for the film universe.
Comics aren’t gospel.
I think they can change the narrative if they want. DC made Ra’s a white guy and Ra’s was a much more prescient villain than Mandarin. Also, pushing this flick in China was a power move. Having a cheap stereotype be the main villain was probably not a good look. Props to Shane Black for trolling everybody with the line that Pedoviejo mentioned.
That said, I never cared about Iron Man that much before these movies. So, for the hardcore Stark fans, I don’t know what to tell you. I guess I’m old enough to be grateful that studios are making comic book flicks with some serious money, after dealing with 20 years of horseshit.
Tom hanks, king of wakanda
They will put ka-zar in a bp movie just to have a white guy with jungle skills
I just want peter dinklage to play modok
I would NOT be mad is Tom Hanks played T’Challa, accent and all
List of what, whoodie?
Movie was about as blah as IM2, only got worse after the Mandarin reveal. Action scenes were cool but everything else was weak. Find it kind of insulting they think people can’t handle a dude with Ten Rings of Alien Technology that grant him powers and won’t even take the time to Moviefiy Fin Fang Foom Realy just take away the purple pants. I know things gotta be changed from comic to film but there are better ways to handle this shit.
