Iron Man 3, now with more raps by Gwyneth Paltrow

Read Extremis front to back multiple times. So again since you obviously don’t know how to read, Iron Man 3 was pretty much the Extremis story WITH TWEAKS.

Right I completely forgot about the parts with mandarin and the little boy and iron patriot…oh wait…

Let me pose this question to you then… If you’re going to a movie just to see everything you already know recreated note for note, why even bother going in the first place?

[quote=“BigDewey, post:273, topic:154551”]

You’re assuming that A.I.M is dead-and-gone and can’t be revived in future films, or at least use certain elements from the comics’ version of A.I.M. under a new name?

What build-up was there of The Ten Rings and the Mandarin? The only things that was revealed was the organization in Iron Man 1 and the Mandarin in Iron Man 3, anything else AFAIK was fan speculation that the two might be connected. But the two are separate entities, and Iron Man 2 's villains were only Whiplash/Vanko and Justin Hammer. And Favreau being pissed or upset about this? I thought he moved-on and got past any big issues on the creative side of things.

And Pepper Potts saving the day was a nice surprise to me. She was painted in the position of “Damsel in Distress” only to create a nice role reversal at the end. Tony kicked plenty of ass in the movie(and the subsequent movies), Rhodey got to shine too, and Pepper actually putting in some work to nail the bad guy (the same guy who kidnapped and threatened her life) is that disappointing?

No GotG after credits scene was disappointing, but nothing to outraged over. Plus the rumors of that happening was actually what happens to Tony in the comics, not in the movie.[/details]

[details=Spoiler] in Iron Man 2, the guy who sends Vanko after Tony at the Grand Prix race had a ten rings tattoo on his neck. There are also numerous Ten Rings hints throughout the series. I just find it weird they’re trying so hard to kill a man, who they want to recruit.

I wasn’t disappointed in Pepper saving the day, just that she takes out the bad guy. Not as mad as Catwoman taking out Bane, but whatever.

And I don’t assume AIM is dead and gone. I just said it was dumb that they made one of the greatest groups of villains in Marvel history, into some group that was just recently founded by some nerds. Imagine if Hydra was just 4 guys in a basement who came together in the 90s based on some random racism. [/details]

at least we now how to make Hulk calm down in future Avengers movies, just have Tony tell him a story.

And from everything I’ve read, no Hulk movies until after Avengers 2. Which is sad, cuz fuck Ruffallo looked old as fuck

Watchman is pretty much a panel for panel re-creation of the comic and it’s boring as a mother fucker.

I feel like the nature of the Mandarin would create problems for his film adaptations. Especially amongst the politically correct. When I first heard that the Chinese version will be different I thought they were going to alter scenes with Mandarin. Turns out it’s the same film with blatant Chinese product placement.

I liked the movie.

YOu have to be a dumbshit to not like the movie. It was funny, it was action oriented, it felt like show. Really really really fucking good.

But, I do understand if it generates hate, but come on, GTFO. The movie more than makes up for it, because the movie stays true to the core character.

LOL at Mandarin.

Chinese fortune cookies are cheap American imitations which leave a bitter taste.

Nigga was so fucking right, fake ass mandarin left a bitter after taste.

talk about forshadowing and irony

Because its nice to see something in words and pictures transformed to motion with actors and music…especially if its good work because it means a larger audience can appreciate something you’ve loved for a long time. It’s also disrespectful to the creator because it gives the impression that"well you were good enough to write for a comic book but not good enough to adapt to a movie". Granted I’m not saying the director isn’t allowed some mobility during the process of adaptation…but ultimately if anime is able to adapt mangas panel for panel then why can’t we do that with US comics and movies?

Anime and Hollywood movies are two different mediums. Anime’s are pretty much beholden to the Manga’s they’re from. They HAVE to be adapted panel for panel like the manga.
Hollywood movies are different in that they have the materials to produce a story but they have wiggle room to do something different that would translate better in the movie form.

And it’s a flawed system because we get directors and writers who have 0 fucks what the source material is about and thus move adaptations become LOLZ. I get movies like the marvel films are for mass consumption but to me they will always be inferior due to there format.

There is a reason why comic books aren’t mainstream.

Stop being a whiny bitch, so as long as the movie stays true to what the main character is, so what.

Or what, its not like Marvel themselves aren’t making millions of alternate Universes.

ANd thank fucking god that at least these Marvel movies aren’t Transformers tier. Fucking trash ass movies

I actually appreciate that comic books aren’t mainstream because they can deliver on experiences without the"casual grandmother"in mind…it doesn’t take a lot to be mainstream as transformer showed. Also again…I said the movie is functionally great as a movie but contextually terrible to the source material.

The Man Darin.

I can’t think of much Anime that is a panel for panel recreation of the Manga counter part, and most Anime that does do this is criticized for being a carbon copy that offers nothing new, and usually plagued with pacing issues. They may be panel for panel in the beginign but almost all of them vier off into their own territory eventually for a verity of reasons, generally because Manga/Comic Books and Movies/Shows are different mediums beholden to different structure rules.

Honestly doing a panel for panel recreation to me is more insulting to the comic book because it makes it seem as if the movie was a better medium for telling that story then the original comic book was, as well as turning people away from checking out the original story cuz they already watched it, why bother buy and reading a story they already know? Instead people might see this movie and hear the comic book version of the story was better/different/equally good for different reasons/whatever and thus be intrigued to check it out.

Why bother if you’re just gonna retread shit you already watched (and vice versa).

lllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

seriously, what a hipster.

The movie is not even contextually terrible.

Does it have Iron Man??
yes

Is it true to who Iron Man is as a character??
yes

Does the movie focus on secondary characters relative to who the main character/s should be???
no

Does it have all the elements that make Iron Man Iron Man.
yes

then it’s not contextually terrible. Stop being such a crybaby about it

Yeah dude we get it, you liked Iron Man before it was cool. My grandmother was alive when Batman was first created, guess she’s cooler than you by that standard lol.

And yeah just be thankful we have people making entertaining Marvel movies at all. You could have Michael Bay trashing your beloved franchises, after all.

Great, now I’m remembering the old video game

Stan Lee has had better cameos.

The movie was solid. Would watch again but skip the Mandarin parts. Gwyneth being extra hot in this one.

IDK, id at least like one movie about transformers at least once.

I actually liked the first and third Transformers movies for just being big old action films with some humor tossed here and there.

On that topic, Iron Man is probably joins Nolan’s Batman trilogy as being one of the few series of movies recently that don’t have major let downs at either the middle or the end IMO. I probably like Iron Man more because the humor makes repeated viewings more watchable (especially for the first movie).

I think RDJ is playing it by ear based on seeing how Iron Man 3 works out this weekend. They’re already tracking it to getting 1.3 billion worldwide after everything is said and done.
They’ll give RDJ a good amount to stay in but nothing crazy.
