Anyone else surprised he still works there after Cross Assault?
So in case you guys haven’t heard IPL 6 is planned to happen on the same day as the next Final Round. First signs of troubles for them?
Scytheavatar @ 2:45 in that vid link makes that so much worse…
Then there’s this interview http://www.gamespot.com/street-fighter-x-tekken/videos/mike-ross-talks-about-joining-ipl-and-predictions-for-sf-25th-6400907/?contsessid=16b512fcd3d94ef28a6f044625a1a15a&prevBounce=6400908
right at 2:40…
IGN and Capcom can go smoke a bag of dicks.
That certainly doesn’t seem to be too far from the truth.
E-sports can only be a good thing for the people that are interested. You can still be loud and what some people might consider obnoxious. Please do, I will be entertained. You might not be able to find a brand that wants their products associated with you, but you don’t care cuz “lol e-sports”, right? Just play the fuckin game and be yourself, don’t worry, you won’t be given any money you don’t want to have.
Also long down-times aren’t synonymous with e-sports but rather poorly run events.
IPL’s next tourney got announced to be the same day as Final Round, so apparently they want to shit on ShinBlanka. (despite what they say at 2:53 in that video)
fuck these guys, fuck anyone that wants to fuck with Final Round
i wonder if they’re gonna try to do something clever and not blow away whatever goodwill they have immediately
like having an ipl sponsored section of street fighter and sfxt at final round or something idk how this stuff works. (or just not running sf/sfxt at that tourney?)
being cynical, everything was already scheduled and they’re gonna pull the ol’ mlg of ‘well, it was already scheduled so i guess we’ll just run it whateverrrrrr’
What up IPL6 already conflicting with Final Round?
Is that not a surprise that there’s already an event conflict, but hey, this is what people wanted when they were eating this news and everything else that was being fed to them without question only because they hate MLG for whatever reason. What’s so different about IPL?
And I am sure that there will be more conflicts because there are more events in 2013 all competing for the same small group of players who actually compete, however we don’t have a large player base or spectator base who could attend these events in person to where a conflict wouldn’t be an issue.
I would have rather seen Capcom support the community directly and work with those who are already putting on events like they have done this year for the SF25 events instead of going through another corporate entity and causing conflicts like this. Capcom wouldn’t even be working with IPL if not for the fact that they still need to sell SFxT and on disk DLC to people.
And now I am supposed to believe everything is going to be swell now that this deal is official? I would believe it if I actually saw Capcom sponsor events like NEC and Final Round. But whatever, go get that money while it lasts since that’s what people care about these days.
Everyone in this community is so quick to put up their arms and fight, rather than seek solutions and ask questions. Quit bitching and work together.
My idea of course would be to let Final Round 16 host the first IPL event on the capcom side. It wouldn’t be in Vegas, but IPL can fly out more international competition to boost up and not have Shinblanka put up a lot of the money. Let IPL be an official sponsor of Final Round 16. It’s been around long enough, has enough notirity. With IPL sponsoring it, they can help setup the stream, make it more sleek and give whoever is streaming resources without the money coming out their own pocket. Let the stream go on, and then put the stream along with others on their main page.
- Increase the pot.
- Increase the stream numbers coming to IGN
- Everyone’s happy.
I don’t know the exact solution though…
the only way to fix that would be to change days, any other alteration would just be pretty trivial. if 2 events are on the same weekend at different locations, you can only go to 1 - there’s no way to change that unless players want to drive to both events over the weekend if they’re at different times (which won’t happen and i’m not even sure if thats even possible).
if they do change the days then kudos to IPL for putting in the effort, but i’m just going to sit back and wait for what happens to happen. i see this as their test run - if they mess this up then i hope Capcom is smart enough to pull out immediately. but… we are talking about Capcom here…
It’s going to be hard as hell to change days for either of them. In an easy world. IPL 6 just pays for Final Round to change, so they can do it free of charge.
apparently it got sorted.
Yup, looks good. Sorted very quickly too. They bowed to Final Round 16. If that doesn’t show they are serious about their commitment, then I guess most people are just looking to be pessimistic.
Huh, so they won’t run the fighters for their IPL event on the same day. That is amicable.
well, false alarm. you gotta admit though that was a pretty bad look tho
Best case scenarion would be the FR ends up as an IPL qualifier for the games in question.
I’d just like to point out the absurdity of this statement. Top players of older games had no problems playing their hearts out for next to no money, it’s only ironic that the level of play is generally lower nowadays than it was in games of old. Keep pandering to “Top Players” tho.
What good is living in the past? Back then games were harder, back then players played with their heart and with money they can’t now…oh spare me that shit. Old School players thought it was silly (and probably still think so) that playing games for a living and making money can even happen. They have made it clear they think it’s ridiculous, even thought it’s happening. Well I think it’s stupid Poker is shown on ESPN. Gaming is competitive and skill curves in these games are still relevant. Not anyone can do it. You all should know. At most of these events, the same people keep winning anyway, and people are just jealous. That’s all it is.
Most of your “Top Players” have been in the scene for a while anyway. No one is pandering to top players. Stop being so god damn jealous. It shows on SRK so hard.
lol who is jealous? of what?
I just think it’s absurd you think a player needs to be paid X amount of money to justify the work he puts in, of his own free will, to his HOBBY/PASSION. The only thing that justifies that is the enjoyment they get out of it. Players in japan get good on their own free will at the arcade on their own money. Spinking has played over 1k matches of BBCP on his own dime in what 13 days or it being out in arcades? Now I’m simply going to ask you, what justifies him doing such a thing for himself?
Is there something wrong with being paid for what you enjoy doing?
