IPL getting capcom games?

Its obvious who plays for the love of playing games, and who plays for fun…

sigh, that aside. IPL has not happened yet, we have no idea how it’s going to go. No one here is saying or has saying they hope it crashes and burns. People just voice their concern using previous examples from other games(hence the whole stephano thing because that matters, this is a social game/community).

Does this mean that the SC community is full of child molesters?

EG taking action against a sponsored player has nothing to do with a tournament organizer trying to make a big event. The only difference between grassroots and IPL is the money put into the event and level of players put in to play.

Anyway, I understand people voicing their concerns but uhm…

“This is shitty. Almost litany levels but w/e.” - Pertho

“Why not just get a real fucking job if you’re in it for the money” - SmoothJaz101

That’s not voicing anything. Those people are just over-exaggerating and trying to look cool. I don’t mind people giving actual concerns, and I think a GOOD concern would’ve been similar to the MLG League of Legend finals at (Anaheim?) where Curse and Dignitas got their prizes taken away for colluding, which never even got proved just because they played an “ARAM” match in the finals, which Riot liked but then got upset at when they thought they were colluding to split prize money.

You don’t know Pertho or Smoothjaz101, which is fine, but don’t take them to heart.

What I meant was individual players rather than organizers and tournaments. This is an in person community rather than an online dominant one, some shits gonna get said. It’s just something to think about if Stephano got penalized so hard for something “arguably” malicious.

So I checked and this AxLegitxLegend guy has literally spent entire days responding to stuff on this post and I have to speculate as to why it matters that much to him.

isn’t it obvious??

He’s an AI created by the eSports Illuminati to try and convert the FGC to eSports so that when Slasher fuses with Twitch.tv he gains complete control over competitive video gaming?

My tin foil hat isn’t on that tight.

 I love you guys too

ahem

hmm isn’t there like a bunch of stuff people called games before but now bunches of people play them for millions of dollars and like to pay to watch people play them and have integrated themselves into society

oh wait SPORTS

video games
>>popular
selling more than movies
check

>> integration into society hmm 65 percent done
give it time

sports =/ and will never = eSports

You don’t honestly believe tht video games will generate multi million dollar salaries.

THe future is bleak indeed, nigga technology at its finest.

they don’t have to be
by the way they said sports never would be a job
professional career at one point
Kobe Bryant makes 27.85 million, this many . give it time

The majority of sports around, including the ones that are competed internationally, are amateur and have niche appeal. If most sports can’t get mainstream attention, videogames have no chance. It certainly doesn’t help that sports have relatively consistent rules, while video games change wildly every few years. Give competitive gaming some time to develop and maybe it could reach the level of appeal that poker has. Even then, the fighting games won’t get most of the attention.

It will be tough for videogames to become chiefly professional. When your income is heavily dependent on reaching the top few places, it’s hard to make a living off of tournaments. I don’t know how much money players get from their sponsors, but perhaps more sponsorship money could allow people to live off playing videogames.

hence nigga technology and bleak future. Its bad enough with sports, now this shit?

ah you meant it as a bad thing
i dont think its so bad though
it gives children of pverty something to aspire to , its a constant reminder on how breeding super workers works out bad , and i stimulates a cities economy

i feel as though things will fall into place
just like for sports
and just like when video games became a dominant form of entertainment
just give it time

Did you read the part where I said most sports are amateur and/or have niche appeal? Things didn’t fall into place for sports. They fell into place for a very small group of sports.

I’ll throw out there that my favorite sport is a niche sport. The top performers at the Olympics can get endorsement money, but otherwise no one cares about it. I’ve accepted that it will never be mainstream popular. I’m aware that videogames will never be mainstream popular either.

Anyways, I don’t have any particular feelings on IPL. I’ll just wait to see how fighting games in esports leagues works out.

Well, all I can say is that fighting games as a whole need eSports. Capcom may be the leading fighting game company at the moment, but in order for more fighting games to be developed and published, there needs to be more movement in eSports to help those games grow. For example, if Capcom released the first Street Fighter today and wanted anything to do with competitive gaming, they would be begging eSports leagues to adapt their games for the added promotion and support for the competitive players. Luckily, the fans and Capcom did that themselves before any of this really blew up. But, times are changing. More players are playing other genres of games and Capcom as well fighting games overall, cannot compete as well as they like. They need to start branching out to other communities and organizations that can help the genre of gaming much more than the grassroot segmented reality we all live in today.
